    Abdominal discomfort

So sorry to hear of your struggle. I know now at 2 years post op constipation is something I have to deal with constantly. It never was an issue at the beginning. My experience has shown a really good probiotic helps such as HMF neuro powder. You have it in a cold drink 2 x a day. It has helped with my digestion and being regular. Also Triphala is a good supplement for stimulating the vagus nerve. You can take for a few months then take a break - I'm in a month off now. And when all else fails Milk of Mag helps. And water and daily walking always beneficial. I hope you can find an answer to your issues. Wishing u all the best.

    Haven't told anyone

I was in hospital 4 days 1 day extra cause of complications from hernia surgery and could keep liquids down. When I left on 4th day I could have driven and was not on any pain meds. I think it depends on the type of incision - i had laparoscopic surgery. Make sure u have your protein shakes and vitamins and first 2 weeks of food - not much you'll need but applesauce cottage cheese that kind of stuff - so u can just concentrate on healing and walking and eating the first couple of weeks.
  4. It really depends on where you store your excess weight and your age and elasticity of skin. I lost 140 pretty F'n impossible to be firm after losing a person lol!! But honestly skin not too bad!! Arms and legs skin is lose but I'm older so expected. I might do skin surgery - maybe but in no rush. Honestly get to goal and then decide what to do with lose skin. The likelihood is you might have some but you're all young so your skin is more elastic. Take vitamins, eat protein, drink water, exercise, moisturize like crazy and skin brush or use a skin scrub on dry skin. Oh and collagen and biotin help.

    Discouraged

Don't worry it will happen! Make sure you're having protein shakes and take vitamins. Good luck on your new journey! I'm 2 years post op and lost 140 pounds. It will happen for you too! Walk as much as you can each day.
  6. It took me months to tolerate meat. I had to have protein shakes to get my protein requirements. Probably around a year protein got easier to digest but honestly very slow process. Now at 2 years post op I can eat a steak with no issues.
  7. I take Citracal for calcium and D it's slow release and works well at keeping my vit D up which I struggle with but unfortunately they're large pills.

    Sex after RNY?

Waited two weeks no issues - i had laparoscopic surgery so the incisions are small.

    100 pounds lost!

    Wow you look amazing!!
  11. Yes have to agree that was my experience also I would have approx 1000 Calories a day sometimes 1800 and I was losing weight during the honeymoon phase which ends around 9 months. I recorded everything I ate in MyFitnessPal - now too lazy.
  12. I'm very happy you have found what works for you!! And yes 2 years post op I've noticed relationships do change but usually it's just growing pains and people adjust in time. I haven't lost any friends and have gained many!! But some family members have issues still but that's their issue.
  13. Yep my experience with hair was keep my protein to min of 60 grams then okay - I'm tall and workout so need lotsa protein. I lost small amount of hair at my temples which was noticeable around 6 months. But it was very slight - not noticeable to others. Now 2 years post op it's grown back.

    Working 5 days post op

If you're working at a desk should be okay. Just remember to get in your daily walks.
  15. The first year post op can be an emotional time and people can be extra sensitive it's best to not have to defend yourself or hear negative comments. You want and need support at that time so from my experience the less you tell the better. I had a friend tell people she had gallbladder surgery... I think it's about the same time off. And she didn't get bombarded with questions and opinions.

    Kidney stones

I recently found out that after gastric bypass you're more susceptible to Kidney stones. Has anyone experienced them? It's one of the reasons we need to drink so much water each day and limit processed foods.

    Kidney stones

Oh I had a capsule I had to take for about 5 months maybe it was same thing - it was to help my stomach heal but can't remember the name of the medication.
  18. It's actually pretty easy to not say too much. I had a hernia fixed same time as RNY so I just told peeps had hernia operation and then I was on meds for 6 months which I couldn't drink alcohol when taking and now had to watch what I'm eating - it's best not to tell people cause they judge you!! It's the easy way out and it becomes a discussion even years after surgery by some friends and family who won't let it go...normally people who need to lose weight! I wish I had told less people. Your health is what matters people need to mind their own business and comments. If they want to get the surgery they can talk to their doctors and do research. I told a person who had easily 200 pounds to lose about my surgery cause I thought it would help and she asked how I lost my weight and she's used it against me since and has told many people...so lessened learned we don't need to try and save people who don't want to be!!

    I just need some support

The pre op diet sucks!! Just do what you can. Mine was 3 weeks long wth!! I had to have optifast I was dehydrated constipated starving and just plain miserable!! It gets much easier post op. I lost 6 pounds pre-op so u can tell I didn't stick to the diet very well! But I kept to liquids and my liver was small enough to have my RNY.

    Protein intake question

Took me about 16 months till I stopped having daily premier protein shakes. I wasn't able to eat enough meat to ensure I was getting all my protein requirements. I'm tall and work out most days and need a lot of protein and vitamins/minerals. I still have smoothie with protein powder 3 - 4 times a week for breakfast. And since the surgery I don't like meat much I'm slowly turning to only eating fish and other protein sources - as chicken pork and beef all too heavy.
  21. Yes mine did that too! Make sure you're taking biotin. U can buy it in chewable form and also make sure your vit D and cal are sufficient. I became vitamin D deficit at 6 months post op cause got lazy with my vitamins.
