    B12 Deficiency and Neuropathy Anyone?

I became vitamin D deficient but not b12 1 year post op.

    Excercise post surgery

Keep drinking your protein shakes and taking your vitamins. I used to have 2 premier protein shakes a day.
  3. Yes that was my experience also. I was never able to drink much until 1 year post op.
  4. Make sure you're walking and taking vitamins.

    Need some ideas...

    Try peppermint tea
  6. I was on some medication post op for 3 months not sure what it was for but i think it was probably to help prevent Gerd and help balance stomach acids. Maybe see if there is a medication u can be on to help prevent this issue and help healing. I've never had Gerd in 2 years post op and I had it constantly pre op
  7. Yeah unfortunately in time we can go back to bad habits. You can also gain the weight back not as easily as before but it can happen with poor eating choices and little exercise. I can eat whatever I want so I try to balance out my eating with exercise. I do have bad days where I eat too much. I try and balance it out by being stricter during week and more relaxed on what I eat on weekends. It might be a good idea if U can join a support group or exercise group - something that can help support you and make you accountable such as weight watchers to help you build better eating habits. I know myself if I stick to 3 meals and 1 or 2 snacks and exercise I'm good but normally I find I snack too much and don't make good choices. Any diet or healthy eating program will work it's finding the one that you will stick too. Exercise I find essential to controlling my weight and helping me to handle stress. Maybe u could try that along with finding healthy substitutes for your snacking such as fruit and smoothies. There are also numerous life coaches available online that might be able to offer a support program. Good luck!! We've been given an opportunity to release our excess weight now we just have to keep up a program to maintain it. I found little support from my hospital's nutritionist - just the usual this is what 1400 Cals a day looks like but that's hard to live with on a day to day basis and weekend and vacations.

    Any peeps from Ontario, Canada

Wow getting close! Good luck just keep positive and follow guidelines and you'll be fine. It's overwhelming at first figuring out what to eat the first few weeks but then gets easier.
  9. That's very interesting. My experience with GB has been very positive and I'm 2 years post op. But if you're planning on having children I'd go with the sleeve as I've had issues with nutritional deficiencies even though I'm fairly good at taking my vitamins. After both surgeries you can gain the weight back but GB seems to be more successful long term but it depends on individual and if they keep up exercising and watching weight to prevent gain. But it's much easier to lose 10 then 130 pounds!

    Any peeps from Ontario, Canada

Good luck! I'm in Ontario but 2 years post op. Health care and support i received from hospital was very good. Wish I had done the surgery years prior!

    Best tasting protein drink?

Premier is the best shake - low in calories and sugar with lots of protein....2 of them a day helped me reach my protein requirements for the 1st year post op.
  12. Not sure had gastric bypass not sleeve. But weight fluctuates daily post and pre op. My experience I weigh myself the same day as I had my surgery - a Thursday once a week for the past 2 years since my surgery....helps to keep me on track and that is my weight for the week not a daily thing.
  13. The pain seems to depend on the type of incision. But u will have gas pain so bring some gas-x strips to hospital as they help. I didn't need pain killers post op just some walking and gas-x. Good luck with the surgery!! All the best!

    In recovery from addiction transfer?

Congratulations on staying clean! I've read about transferring addictions and hear it can happen. Keep up the positive changes. It's all about one day at a time. I really like some of the books by Gabby Bernstein she is a recovering addict. I'm still probably a sugar addict...but manage it with dieting and exercise.

    Bowel issues

I've had that when dumping when I've eaten something too heavy or too high in sugar. It can take a few hours to happen after eating.

    Alcohol

I waited 8 months to start drinking again and avoided anything carbonated for 2 years.
  17. I think post surgery that will be difficult to digest. You might have to wait a few months to try.

    Vitamins

I take 2 maternity multi vitamins in the morning, b12 tab goes on tongue 3 x a week, calcium citrate with vitamin D, 1,200 slow release - take 1 two times a day. I buy everything at drug stores or Walmart. Right after surgery will have to use chewables I used Centrum and a calcium citrate chewable.
  19. Make sure you're taking your vitamins and drinking protein shakes that'll help with your energy levels....and the bloating is normally gas from the surgery that will move with walking.

    Im feeling like a failure...already

Did u have the sleeve or RNY? Maybe looking at different experiences. 10 pounds is a good start. RNY works!! Follow the eating plan and you'll lose. There is no way you won't lose weight if following the eating plan! It's an emotional time right after surgery but it gets easier. Just take this opportunity on! I don't remember feeling hungry but I would feel empty and need to eat something. If that is what you're feeling that's normal as your body still needs liquids and vitamins to heal and live - the first 2 weeks....u need to have something in your system.
  22. I'm amazed at how much you can eat!! But I know you're getting good results. I could eat only a couple of bites of protein the first year...then so full I could barely move. Kids called my stomach my snake belly cause I'd have a nap to digest. I meal prep now but no issues eating a chicken breast or steak but took at least 18 months to get to this point.
