Thanks for the recipe!! Hydrolyzed collagen such as Great Lakes is great for hair and skin. But only so much it can do. You will have some saggy skin after losing weight but the health and energy benefits are worth it!

Kickstarting weight loss after 2 years of maintenance
blondie66 replied to Amy*'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Protein first, 3 meals 2-3 small snacks, protein every meal, reduce sugar, drink 30 mins after meal not with and no alcohol... what we did the first year.. But we learn the tricks on how to cheat! Like I could live off carbs but I'll gain weight and won't lose. Oh and exercise 30 mins daily. I'm with you I want to lose some more and I know I've been developing bad habits! -

One year out, not losing enough weight?
blondie66 replied to meridianlosing's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Cutting the carbs should help and make sure you're eating enough protein. 1,000 calories a year after surgery is very low. -
Best protein shake!! I premier at Costco

Timing Issues
blondie66 replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exciting that your surgery date is coming up!! Giving up coffee sucks but try and do it now. It takes about 3 days to get over giving up coffee u get headaches and feel like crap. You want to do it now so it's one less thing you have to go through after your surgery. You can't drink coffee after surgery for about 6 - 9 months..about the same amount of time I gave up alcohol. It's worth it! I have a completely new and active life now. Coffee will make you sick after surgery and it dehydrates you. You don't want to be going through withdrawal and healing from surgery at same time. -
At 6 months was when hair loss was the most noticeable try to keep up with protein shakes and vitamins. I took a chewable hair and skin vitamin that I think helped. I have thin hair to begin with so was worried I would have bald patches but it didn't happen...but now a year later I am noticing hair regrowth at temples.

Enjoy the dumplings!! The honeymoon phase doesn't last so enjoy it while you can! At that early stage u can't eat enough protein anyway have to drink shakes to get it...well that was my experience.

Enjoying Life?
blondie66 replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree good advice! It takes a few months and then you'll get used to a routine and also realize you can live a normal life and eat much more then originally thought...which can be good or bad! And clothes shopping will become fun! Picking out cute outfits and going out and meeting people and living life. -
Panic Attacks?
blondie66 replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm trying to think of what I can write that would be useful. I'm 130 pounds lighter and 18 months post op. I can pretty much eat everything. This surgery is not a life sentence of no fluids and applesauce. Make sure to take meds vitamins and sip water and protein shakes. You don't have to be perfect your body will heal but you must get some rest. Try and get some walks in and realize you have 1 year to lose most of your weight. This is an opportunity not a curse. Take this year to lose what you can and get healthy. After that it will about maintaining and losing maybe a few more pounds. I'm amazed at how much I can eat now and not gain weight. It was the best decision I made for my health and relationships in all ways. -
Who will you tell that you are having WLS?

I told husband, kids and close friends. If I would it it again I would have only told my bff and husband. I still haven't told my mom but recently told my sister to try and help her but met with judgement. -
I'm 18 months post op down 130. At 6 weeks postop I walked 30-60 mins daily it's the best exercise and at 4 months post op started light weights and trampoline or elliptical. I'd start on elliptical slowly for 20 mins and work up a couple of minutes a week to 30 mins and then do that daily 3-5 x a week add in some weights and you're set!

I was able to tolerate a skinny vanilla latte at about 4 weeks...make sure it's sugar free or you could dump. Eventually you'll be able to tolerate more sugar.

Your body is healing the weight loss will come. I've lost 130 so far about 10-20 more to go to my goal weight. Just keep up the protein shakes and vitamins and follow the eating schedule and weigh yourself once a week...the surgery works!

I take cetirizine for allergies prescribed by dr for hay fever. I did notice I started getting rashes 6 months after surgery. I took MSM which is good for stomach healing for 4 months and rashes are gone. I don't take it anymore and no rashes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The vitamin sch can get confusing!! I take two multivitamins in morning. Then 2 cal citrate and d (in same tablet) at lunch and then 2 again before bed. This seems to work well for me my blood tests since doing this are good. I don't need b12 but most people would need to take a dissolvable table of 1000 every other day. Warning eat your protein/vitamins!!!!! 8mths post op Gastric bypass
blondie66 replied to curlysue86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey at 3 months post op you won't be able to eat much of anything especially meat. If you're throwing up try slowing down when eating it takes awhile to eat at that early stage. Sip water throughout the day and don't drink with meals. I always have a protein shake or yogurt with my vitamins. Some of the chewables are good if your dr approves. I started taking chewable skin and hair vitamins and they helped my skin also fish oils. I was never able to get in 32 ounces of water a day. But make sure to get the 2 protein shakes in for the first 6 months. It gets easier I can eat everything now...just not as much. I miss those early days of seeing what I could eat and watching the scale drop! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm a year and 6 months post GB if you do not take your vitamins you will end up with a deficiency. Trust me!! It happened to me cause I got lazy taking extra calcium and vit D. Started getting very bad lower back pain and tired...blood tests revealed low D... started taking vitamins and levels all good and back pain gone. Just take vitamins and drink protein shakes it helps with skin and hair repair too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
