It's the best thing I've done for my health and happiness. My only regret is that I should have had the surgery sooner.

The reality is you will likely be able to eat pizza and junk food again. So practice getting healthy and try to look at the 9 months of losing weight as an opportunity not a curse. I eat pizza and ice cream and pretty much anything just smaller portions and nothing carbonated. I'm 18 months post op and still want to lose some more weight so I know I have to exercise and cut out the junk on most days.

I'm still stuck on the odour? -
I still avoid carbonation most days as it bothers my stomach but no issues with champagne...but coolers and beer cause bloating and dumping for me...wine is fine. I'm 18 months post op.

The only protein shakes I can stomach are ready made Premier protein...30 grams of protein 1 gram sugar

I was never able to get my water intake enough until 1 year post op. I sipped water throughout the day and had protein shakes on ice. Make sure you're walking daily. The Weight will come off. But don't look at the speed it comes off....the numbers start to add up and then 4 months later you will be down 50 pounds. J

Yes I'm 18 months post op and sometimes it scares me how much I can eat now. I still have some weight I want to lose and it's much tougher now cause I can eat anything and have an appetite. It's important to keep up the exercise and build muscle to help your metabolism. Great job losing 115 pounds!!

This might be not valid but the first few months if I drank anything and ate at same time I'd vomit. I couldn't eat any solids until 10 weeks... kept to protein shakes. But healed well and no issues.

Minimizing complications
blondie66 replied to Gabriel29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I followed the rules for the most part and had little complications. I also had a good surgeon and good post op care which I think all contribute but so does being a good patient and taking meds and following Instructions. U will get gas pains so bring gasx strips to hospital to use. Give up pop coffee booze and take vitamins for 2 months before surgery. Also start with the premier protein shakes at least 3 months prior to surgery to build up a food reserve of nutrients. I am very happy I did the surgery and wish I had done it sooner. -

Long weight loss stalls
blondie66 replied to Jessibird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hernia also. Probably time to add in exercise for 30 minutes such as elliptical or cycling 5 - 7 days a week. Walking is good but at 3 months post op it probably should be for 45 to 1 hour every day. Exercising will help your metabolism so a year out you'll be burning lotsa calories with the muscle you've gained. -

How many ways per day
blondie66 replied to snapy17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe check with dr as to why you're feeling hunger. Also, I think 5 meals a day is fine...just make sure you're sipping your protein shakes. I used to dilute mine with ice at that early stage. -
Best to wait a year

From my experience and friends who've had surgery. Sleeve surgery quick and beginning but person never lost all their weight. The three RNY bypass lost all their weight and have maintained the weight loss.

St. Joe's Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario - CANADA
blondie66 replied to megaustinxo's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
It takes about a year to go through the process between meeting the nutritionists, social worker, nurses, surgeon. From my first orientation to surgery was 9 months. Had my surgery in Ontario. I didn't miss or reschedule an appointment...went when they told me cause didn't want to get set back in schedule. -
I'm over a year post op ...do yourself a favour and stay away from junk food. Just keep telling yourself it's bad for your pouch and body. Transition to healthy food junk food doesn't exist anymore

If I knew then what I know now...
blondie66 replied to justme55's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's still early days hopefully things will turn around. I didn't take potassium not sure what Its for...it's interesting the variety of experiences and post op procedures. If I could change anything about my surgery 18 months post op. Is I would have done it sooner. -
Great advice!

The first 8 weeks you should have a weekly schedule and meal plan. After 8 weeks can start eating normal food but low sugar and fat. Keep up protein shakes to ensure you're getting enough protein cause u won't able to eat enough. After a year you can eat most foods.

Not much lol!! Cottage cheese yogurt protein shakes oatmeal eggs applesauce
-
Also the chewable vitamin I tried was Natures Bounty and then Biosil...but I think the other collagen products are better for me. Start taking as soon as u can even prior to surgery I think helps cause the first 8 weeks it's hard to keep anything down.

Healthy Planet stores online or in store...they carry both.
-
That's good news!! It probably also depends on your age. I'm old so after losing 130 pounds there is skin that lost its elasticity. Luckily it's not too bad! I'll try the skin brushing and Vitamin e but it might be too late for me.

Have you try hydrolyzed collagen such as Naka or Great Lakes? ...u can sip it or make a jello. I take 15ml at night of Naka collagen. Wish I knew about it sooner!
