  1. I'm a little farther out than you: post-op day 5 here. Remember, you just had MAJOR surgery. (I am a health care provider so I chose to really minimize what I'd had done but it's a big deal.) You had a significant portion of your stomach removed. You and I both feel weak and sick right now and that's REALLY normal. Give yourself a chance to recover. (I'm giving myself a similar pep talk--not so much about hating my decision but about being more realistic about what I just put my body through.) This too shall pass. Although I am not recommending it after the decision you and I made for ourselves, we can choose to fail the sleeve too. There are people who make unhealthy food choices, stretch out their sleeves and gain. I just tell myself that I have no idea why I would do so after going through the recovery we are now experiencing. I guess this is more of a stream-of-consciousness response than a pep talk but I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone and this is very temporary. Your job right now (as a very smart colleague told me) is to drink to prevent dehydration, sleep, and poop--in other words, heal! I hope you hang in there. Dianne
  2. Hi. Almost 4 days post op. One of the books I read (or maybe it was a suggestion of one of my wise friends) recommended getting a counselor if you don't have one already because many issues that we've been stuffing with food can come up post-operatively. Watching my husband eat toasted cheese sandwiches was kind of torture tonight even though I know that there is no way I could eat one right now--or for months to come. Someday... perhaps... a quarter of one of low-carb bread. Good luck.

  4. I'm 3 days post-sleeve (2/6/17) and I came home yesterday. I'm so worried about getting dehydrated. I'm supposed to be on pureed foods but it seems TOO fast. I'm also supposed to stop water 30 min before snacks and 1 hour before meals. I'm just worried that I will get too dry. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dianne
