    Need support!

I am grateful for your honesty, and wish you happier times ahead!
  4. How are you dealing with falling dress/pant sizes? I'm most especially concerned about bra sizing. Especially in early days, any suggestions? Also, compared with previous weight loss attempts, did you lose more, less or the same amount of breast tissue. I have really big boobs and I'm secretly hoping they go away!
  5. Talk about stirring the pot! That really does sound judgemental. If you are here because you are going to have or have had weight loss surgery then you really ought to know that weight loss isn't just about willpower or even about calories in/calories out. As you must know, people undergoing wls have tried typical diets and even medical ones. I'm really surprised that you would be so recklessly and thoughtlessly "curious".
  6. I ADORE thrift store shopping. And Wish.com.
  7. Thank you! Leggings are a great idea! I wish cheap bras were possible for me!
  8. Ha ha! Congested! Yes! I hear they'll deflate and I can't wait!
  9. Anyone else March 20 in Harbor City?

    Fast and Furious

Update! All is well. My situation is unique to me and I've gotten some advice re: my pre-op diet. I need to kick up the working out a notch and increase my calories a touch.
  11. Hi! I've just joined. I'm from Long Beach CA and I'm having surgery at Kaiser Harbor City on March 20. I did an orientation and nutrition class with Dr. LePort's office in Orange county last August but then had to switch insurance. I met with Dr. Zane at Kaiser for the 1st time last week and he put me on the schedule for next month and told me I have to lose weight, shooting for 30 pounds, by March 15. I wasn't given a diet to follow aside from drinking a 160 calorie Protein shake for dinner each night. I went home in a panic and researched pre-op diets. I'm flying blind! I've cut down carbs and fat as far as possible (no bread, rice, Pasta, quinoa, cerals, grains tortillas etc. And no butter, vegetable oil and little olive oil). I've cut all soda, sugar, carbonated beverages and caffeine, too. I'm eating about 800-1000 calories a day and drinking at least a half gallon of Water. Is being dropped into the deep end like this normal? Is there a better way to drop this much weight this fast? Cheers!

    Fast and Furious

Hi Tammy! I took 1 all day orientation and nutrition class and then switched to Kaiser. I have not done a 12 week class. I met with my Kaiser surgeon last week for the first time (I was referred by my new Kaiser PCP). I brought my paperwork from the previous surgeon's office and the new surgeon, Dr. Zane, put me on the schedule for March 20. I'm relieved to know I'm following approximately what I should be and I'm hopeful I'll lose enough to satisfy the surgeon. I'm a little unclear as to why I'm skipping so many steps but I do know my blood pressure is extremely high so I figured that was the reason for the hurry. I'm going to call the office Monday and get some clarification.
  13. Yeah, it seems a little odd to me but my blood pressure has been extremely high so I figured it was hurried up for that reason. I'm going to call tomorrow and follow up. To be clear, he didn't say I have to lose 30 pounds. He said I should be shooting for 10% loss, or in my case 30 pounds. I don't know if he expects me to get that far, but I'm going to try!
  14. I took a single all day orientation and nutrition class through Dr. Leport's office at Orange Coast in August. Dr. Zane did not ask me to take a 12 week program as he put me on the schedule the 1st time he met me. He gave me 4 weeks to lose that same 10%
  15. I am also with Kaiser. Met with Dr. Zane for the 1st time last week. He put me on the schedule for March and asked me to lose 30 pounds in 4 weeks. I'm terrified. They didn't give me a diet to follow and I have no idea what to do. I've researched pre op diets and have cut down everything. I'll probably just stop eating entirely the last week to try to lose as much as possible. I am a little freaked out that they are so unhelpful and require such extraordinary measures. I definitely didn't expect to have surgery so quickly!
