Yes I had recently experienced severe shortness of breath and while I thought it was that I was developing asthma it was actually being caused by my band. It's called aspiration pneumonia and is caused when food backs up and it absorbed in your lungs or something like that. Long story short - I had my band completely emptied and the shortness of breath went away immediately. Then after a month or so start filling it back up slowly.
