Help post-op may2
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Kristinapace's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Now here is my norm...First I am 3 and 1/2 years out from my RNY. I have tried to eat steak at least 3 or 4 times but no go!! I had Strictures which started in Nov, Dec of 2013. Then Jan of 2014, July 2014. With my last on being Jan of 2015. Strictures are kind of like scar tissue which closed off my Stoma, I couldn't even hold water down but all is great now. I can eat hamb, chicken and pork but they need to be very moist. I had lost down to 117#'s in 6 months. But I did have a 8# gain but that was ok for sure. I beleive the strictures had some to do with that. Here are my STATS: HW 249 LW 117 SW 232 CW 125#'s. I have maintained my 124# loss for over 3 years now. Not being able to eat steak HHMM Let me think, yes I miss it but being thinner feels so much better than eating a steak. People that say YOU WILL NEVER be able to eat yada yada aren't the ones to listen to. Your journey is just that YOUR JOURNEY. Each of us do our own choices. Hey, if you can't eat a steak maybe you can chopped it up in a blender just not puree but chopped some. Who knows it might be good. LOL -
Vitamin Help!!!!
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to c3love5's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have used the CELEBRATE capsules since right after my RNY. I had my WLS on July 2, 2013. As soon as I could I started using them instead of the chewables. They were way to sweet for me!! I also take HAIR SKIN AND NAILS 2 times a week since my B12 is high I use to take it everyday until just recently. I take SELEINUM every day. It helps wirth immunity and hair loss. I also takre VIT D 6,000 mg a day. My bloodwork has always been just great. What does your Team say about which vitamins to take? Always always keep up on your vitamins. Sometimes it may take awhile for stuff to show up. I have seen people having problems later on. I would say to start taking the HAIR SKIN AND NAILS before your surgery. Not everyone has hair loss but the majority do. I did . Also try to find a good shampoo to help you not lose your hair. But above everything make sure your follow your Surgeon's guidelines. Good Luck -
I can't beleive that a company as big as GENEPRO can get away with false advertising. If you use it in whatever it doesn't have any taste. I am a coffee person and YOU DON'T want to mess up my coffee. LOL It also is made by a VETRAN which I think makes it even more appealing. I went in to read that article and I couldn't get the whole story. They wanted a proffesional Email, like a Lawyer or something. My ? is how can they get away without the FDA coming down on them? I would think that the Goverment would get involved or something. Right
-
DUH i forgot to put the name of my protein down, it is GENEPRO. You can get it online. It may seem like it cost alot but just think about it. 1TABLESPOON =30grams of protein. Now there are those that are nay sayers and GENEPRO doesn't have that much protein. But I have been using it for quite some time now and all of my bloodwork is totally AWESOME!!

I am 3 and 1/2 years out from my RNY. I would hate to know the amount of $$$ I have spent on protein stuff!! The only thing is my nephew and his son are into that due to sports. Otherwise I would just cry!! I had some horrible stuff. I don't like Premuir Protein because it gave me the BACK DOOR TROTS!! I used it 2 weeks before my WLS and 4 weeks after. My dr finally told me trhat I was Lactose intolerant and that is why I had so much troble with Premuir. THANKS a lot!! LOL But I finally found one that is totally unflavored for real this time!! I put it in my ESPRESSO everyday. It has 30grams of protein in 1 tablespoon. I have tried so many others and even my grandkids didn't like them. And they think any thing NANA hasd is golden. LOL Try to not buy to much before your surgery because so many of us has their tasye change, This is me and also I have SUPER DUPER smelling now. I always had a sensitive nose but...this is unbealiable at times. Good Luck on your journey!!

Tanita scales
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to GassyGurl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When I was getting cleared for my RNY, I was sent to a heave my heart checked out. When they told me to get on the scales I jumped up there and didn't even realize that I had my purse on my shoulder!! You might wonder if it made a difference, I can tell you my purse weighed almost 10 #'s!!!! I threw that purse down so fast. LOL If I would have thought better about it I could have used that weight for my before!! LOL WOW look at Sherrie go!! LOl -
Heavy Duty Scale
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We have a TAYLOR also. We got it because my hubby weighed over 450#'s. This is the same one that the "BIGGEST LOSERS use". We have had our's for over 5 years and have only changed the baterys 1 time. Not to sound weird but did you check the battery? My hubby had went so long without having a scale to weigh on that when he started losing weight he was jumping on them every few minutes. LOL Myself NOT SO MUCH!!! I have always hated to weigh, in fact I have been known to cancel Dr appointments because I knew they would weigh me. Even now I have been at my goa weight for over 3 years and you would think it shouldn't bother me!! Somethings never change. LOL -
I personally don't like them. I love POWERCRUNCH and ATKINS protein bars. I use them every once and awhile. Nothing wrong in them and using them truely help me get my protein in.

Researching...
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to CrazieConnie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am almost 4 years out from my RNY. I was a insulin resistant and I took 100 units of Levermire (shots) 2 times per day plus 500MG of METFORMIN also for diabetes. I took 12 different medications. Now I take 4, three of which are for my high blood pressure. Plus my vitamins. Here are my stats: At one time I weighed in at 285#'s but managed to lose 36#'s on my own. So here is my journey HIGHEST WEIGHT 249 LOWEST WEIGHT 117#'s SURGERY WEIGHT 232 CURRENT WEIGHT 125#'s. I got to my lowest weight in 6 monthd then managed to gain 8#'s but it was all great. I had problems with strictures and had to have 5 Endoscopes with 4 Dialations. This was the reason for my low weight. I have maintained my 125#'s for over 3 and 1/2 years. Not only am I off so much of my medications I now can exercise and actually enjoy it. I am able to walk 3 to 4 miles three to four times a week. I also have Fibromylgia and 2 different Arthuritis and now I feel good. I am not saying I am pain free because I still have my days when I just cannot do it all. I know that both surgeries have good and not som good draw backs but...if you stay your plan and follow your Surgeons guidelines you too will be successful!! Good luck on which ever bath you choose!! -
Oh yes!! Try the TROPICAL ONES!!! They are yummy
-
I would say be careful!! I had watermellon way back then. (I am almost 4 years out) it has quite a bit of acid, I found out the hard way. It made me ave "the back door trots"!! Need I say more about it being acidy!! LOL
-
Hi, I have Fibromylgia, Osteo arthur, Psoratic Arthur and the beginnings of Rhematoid arthur. I had back surgery in 2005, which had helped oh so much. I started having terrible knee problems. My PCP told me that it was arthritis. When I ask him why I didn't have problems before my weight loss, he told me that I would have been in a wheelchair without losing my weight. Now I'm not saying all of my ailments are gone NOPE I still have my off days but I have learned that I have to push right thru them!! I feel so much better!! Not that I am off all of my paoin meds but I use FENTYNOL patches. Which are so much better than VICODIN or METHEDONE!! Which I was on previous to my WLS!!! I was on TOXIC amounts of them!! One thing for sure after all of the DR.s telling me that exercise is where it is at. I always said I am damned if I do or if I don't because during my exercise yes I do hurt but you know what those DR'S are right!! It is where it is at!! Good Luck on your weight loss surgery.

How do I get over my stall?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to lessie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you look at your guidelines you will see that it is normal PERSAY to gain some of your weight back. I know that is so very hard to swallow but maybe your body is at a set point, if you have let the carbs back into your life it may be easy to start there go back to your basics get all of your protein, water and add movement in also. I also would suggest that you jounal what you eat and drink if you aren't doing that it is so very important so you can tell exactly what and where you are at. I can image how frustrated this makes you. Please stop beating yourself up. Put your scales away for awhile and try to relax some. Scalers totally stress me out and I have been at my goal weight for over 3 years. Hugs and I am so sorry that you have to go thru this. Take care and keep coming on here to get the encouragment that you need. Take what you need and leave the rest. Good luck -

Can't drink Protein, HELP!
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Tessa1988's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Most people love the Premuir Protein drinks. I had to do them 2 weeks before my RNY and then 4 weeks after. The problem I had was I had the "Back door trots" the whole time I used them. When I was almost done with my 4 weeks my PA said, Well you have become Lactose Intoerant!! Thank you so much. I could hardly go outside of my house!!! So sad but so true. I found a protein that I couyld tolerate afterwards, It is MYLOPLEX RICH DARK CHOCOLATE. But now I have my GENEPRO unflavored protein in my Espresso everyday!! Love it. It has 30grams of protein in 1 TABLESPOON. There are some that don't beleive it has 30grams of protein, but I haven't seen the info. -
Another Patient Death at A Lighter Me (ALM) with Dr. Jose Luis Curiel Marchena
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Well first off you don't even know me!! I am just stating what happened to us. As far as the Dr's name it was Jose Rodriguez. I can't recall the hospital's name. The nurses I can't remember their names either. I was in no way trying to just scare people. I was ststing what happened to us. We went thru BELITE WEIGHTLOSS. Which I have stated before. My problem with our hospital here in Roseburg, the nurses are overworked and as that being said they just don't provide the care to the people at the hospital. When my husband was in there after his knee replacement the charge nurse was working the floor. The ER if you need to go there they have young Dr.'s that are pompus. I went in because my PCP had already dignoised me with H1N1 and I had a high fever of 104 so my PCP told my family to take me in. I set out there so sick I could hardly hold my head up and finally when I got called back the DR asked me what I thought they could do for me!!! When I told him what my PCP had said HE stated, WELL I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO!!! When you sit in a ER sick and there are many many sick people and you have to wait forever and then be barked at it is totally unacceptable. This hospital has many many suits from people that have contacted MERSA. My husband had abcesses and when he went to the hospital (in Roseburg) he contacted strep from his surgery. Another gentleman at the same time had contacted it also. That is just a few of the reasons I don't care for our local Hospital!! You stated that I am just trying to cause FEAR MONGERING, you are WAY OFF BASE!!! I only want to help not hinder!! I resent you saying this. You don't know me and I don't know you so kindly speak of what you know!! -

Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just want to say We live in Roseburg, Oregon and in our town we have 1 hospital. No choice of going to another one in an EMERGENCY. I can tell you this much...I have said this to every family member "If I am not dying take me to Medford or Eugene. Medford is around 100 miles from us and Eugene is 85 miles from us. Don't care for our Hospital here at all. But even as much as I don't like it and hope to not need it in an Emergency I would NOT use Juarez, Mexico again. My hubby had his Sleeve there last June. What a JOKE. The language issue, no wash clothes, nurses not washing their hands or using even hand santizer, no discharge papers. The surgeon working on many pateints all day. He was there early that morning and my hubby's surgery was in late afternoon. The DR came in at 10:00 pm. Scary times. How can he be refreshed when he is doing one after another surgeries!! It was NOT good to say the least. Our hospital here is like a A PLUS and Juarez is a 0. Just a word or two on remember what we have here and what we got there!! -
Welcome!! You my freind are a blast of fresh air!!! Your attitude is AWESOME!!! I can tell from your post that you are a FIGHTER, heck with all that has happened in your life you can do this!!! You have defintly GOT THIS!!! Congratulations onm kicking your Cancer in the BEHIND> You took it down and didn't even look back!!!

Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Sometimes people who go to Mexico just don't have an insureance that covers WLS!! To state that people are taking the easy and cheapest way out isn't very fair. Legit people go because it is an option that they can get their WLS done. -
Pre cooked grilled chicken
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Biscuit0587's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
isserieCostco has the very BEST Rotisserie chicken. It is real juicy and not dryed out. It works great. I have a slice of bread (whole wheat) with a small amount of mayo and use the chicken. YUMMY
