Help needed with decision RNY or Sleeve
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Terri70's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really don't understand why people need to run ANY of the choices each person makes, that it really is a personal choice. What works for me may not work for you. I had the RNY and my hubby had a SLEEVE. Just in our case, I defintly lost all my weight in 6 months with an 8# gain in 4 years. I have maintained my 1234# loss for almost 4 years. He had his Sleeve a year ago this June. He has lost 135#'s but mostly it is the food choices he makes. First off he weighed 460# now he weighs 330#'s. He still working on it. His choice defintly (he had the Lap Band for 13years) even back then was the RNY. He had complications after they removed the Band. That was in 2013. So in 2016 we went to Mexico for his surgery. When they got in there his band had caused so much scar tissue that he ended up with the Sleeve. My opinion on which surgery is the best would be WHATEVER YOU AND YOUR DR DECIDES ON. Educate yourself on all options. Then make a informed decision of which one works for you. Good Luck in whichever way you go. -
Finally on my journey
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to KassMiller's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congradulations on your journey!! GREAT THINGS will be coming to you. Welcome. I look forward to following your journey. -
I had to be on Protein Drinks for 2weeks preop and 4 weeks postop. I was able to have broth SF popcicles and SF pudding but after I made sure that I got as much protein and fluids in I never had any room for anything else. But those are the 2 things my DR told all of his patients: PROTEIN AND MORE PROTEIN!! Lots of fluids because we can get dehydrated quickly.

Just finding this forum
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to ehoward's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi and welcome!! You are one the oldies. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. One of the best things I have ever done. Right up there with marrying my bestie freind my hubby. We had 2 children (both grown with children of their own) so it rates pretty darn high in my books!! I was fortunate and lost 132#'s ( I had some problems with strictures) in 6 months. I did gain back 8#'s but have maintained my 124# loss for over 3 yeras and 4 months. But who's counting!! LOL So where are you from? I live in Oregon. Who did your surgery. Is 60#'s the total weight that you lost? Any way welcome and I hope you get lots of help taking off your regain. I don't know you but think about it, You have what it takes because you already did it before. -
Lowest weight but still feel gross!
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to SandyToes143's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really think you and I and most everyone has this problem. I was told many times that our mind takes quigte awhile to catch up with our weight loss. As long as I just look at my face in the mirror I can really see myself different. As long as I don't look below at the rest of myself. I'm almost 4 years out and lost 132#'s in 6 months, had a 8# gain but have maintained for 3 and 1/2 years. I am still waiting for my brain to catch up. Take lots of pictures and measure yourself because a lot of times when you are in those DREADED STALLS. Pictures and measuring can keep you going. One of another group told me to always take a picture in the same place like in a door way, because it gives you a good look at your progress. That is one thing I wish I had done. I hate to have my picture taken then and now both. I didn't measure which I totally regret but I hated to see my weight on the scales and in measuring those BIG numbers drove me crazy. Sorry now tho. -

How to survive post op clear liquid diet?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to redprincess's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
One thing that helped me was this: KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE!!! Take your time noe to heal. Push the fluyids because it doesn't take long to get dehydrated. Keep doing everything that your group has set before you because they KNOW WHERE IT IS AT!! Everything they say to do is very important. Be very careful don't start cheating here and there. It will get out of hand quickly!! Hang in there it does get better!! Congradulations on getting started on your AMAZING journey. I look frward to following you on this site. Smle -
Disclaimer, I love the hubs and need his support but
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sosewsue61's topic in Rants & Raves
I GET you for sure!! My personality is like this: DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!! I have always had just a little bit of rebellion running in my veins!! If someone trys to push me I get ornery. I WIL do the opposite of what you say!! I resent the heck out of somweone telling me I can't eat that!!! But...I am horrible about this aspect with my hubby. He gets mad everytime. I ask him what are you doing? What are you going to eat? While he is in the kitchen, and he HATES this because others have critzied him on what he is eating!! I just want to know so if I want to eat it too. LOL Mind you we have been married for 43 years. LOL You would think I would remember this. LOL Another thing he does is he will buy all kinds of junk food when he starts his diet. This makes me so upset!! He is living his fantasy thru me. I have told him so many times that I don't want or need this junk!!! Yesterday I told him that he wants me to get fat again!! Of course he said no but I know he likes his women thicker. Oh tthe hells of the housewifes!!!! -

Let me recommend some good stuff!! It is called " BETTER THAN BOUILLON". It might cost a little more than regular bouillon but so worth it. I use less than what they say. It comes in BEEF, CHICKEN and VEGGIE. Once you try them you will know what I am saying. I have used them for quite some time. YUM YUM -
Feeling like I've failed already - frustrated
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Retta1983's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow both of your posts are so heart felt!! Surgery is NOT going to work all alone. Well, at first (right after WLS) you do lose quickly. What you are having to face now is the very worst nightmare of each and everyone of us!! THE DREADED REGAIN!! The weight isn't discriminate of who has the weight regain. Both of you have already proven that you know what it takes. Even if you need to take each day in a hour, minutes or even seconds. Just go back to what you know works. Stop beating yourself up. Make a plan to succeed. Pick yourself up and continue on. Don't think of your pregancy as being bad, Just think of your sweet little one who wants and needs their MAMA!! I know it is hard!! But YOU are the only one that can do this. Hugs -
I wanted to just say that I have been investgating GENEPRO about the protein. I went to 2 different studies and it is true. GENEPRO has 30grams of protein per serving. Which is 1 Tablespoon. If anyone is interested in the links just let me know. Have a great TUESDAY!!!

WOW!! I know exactly what you are saying. I was on 100units of Levermire 2 times a day plus 500mg of Metformin before my RNY. I have been off all of them since early 2014. In January I went in to get my bloodwork done so I could see my Dr afterwards. I got a email that told me my BS was high again, it was 204. When I went to see her I ask her to give me a month. I know I was doing pretty bad with extra carbs. Right afterwards my 1st fasting BS was 163 and has went down every morning. I think I dodged the bullet!! WOW This was the one thing I really wanted to get under control so I was so excited to be off it all. I was told the same thing about Diabetes isn't gone it can pop up at any time. I'm sorry that you are having a hard time. Maybe it will go back in remission. Good Luck

Thank you for posting this!! I am going to check that site out. I also am having a heck of a time with my knees. Whenever I lie down since I have tom sleep on my side now. (I was always a stomach sleeper) but due to back surgery, WLS and my Panni I had to learn to sleep on my side. My knee's hit each other and it actually has bruised my knee's. I used a small pillow for awhile but it quit helping. Then I ordered a knee pillow but it isn't very comfortable. After my WL I have had arthur show up bad!! When I ask my PCP why after I l;ost 124's and he told me if I hadn't lost the weight I would be in a wheelchair by now. WOW!!! Dodged that bullet. I am going to go tro that site now. I have pillows in my car in my chair everywhere I sit. Man it is terrible the things we go thru. I wouldn't trade it back tho. LOL

GENEPRO
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, the reason and the only reason that I loved GENEPRO is because I can use it in whatever. I am NO WAY pushing anything on anyone. I am NOT getting anything from this company. I don't have a pictue up because I don't know how to do it. And I also had been on here for quite awhile but I quit using the other account due to being hacked and went to my true name. My old account was under shedo82773. I am not new here at all. If onmly had to use GENEPRO as my protein intake well yes there would be problem. I also eat to get protein also. It would seem to me that if I was having problems it would show up in my bllodwork that is still beiing sent to my BARIATRIC SUREGON. I know if there was a problem they would be the first ones to let me know. I am sorry that this post made so many upset. Like was said we all have to do whatever it takes to maintain our health. So if YEARS down the road I get myself in trouble I will come back here and tell you that you were roight. Again Have a great day -

Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The links I have are these. It is pretty much the same as what you posted. BTW I am not a newbie I am almost 4 years out and I have had all great returns on my bloodwork. In fact I had to drop down on some of my vitamins. I guess I will have to keep a better eye on them since I am using The JUNK GENEPRO. I am sorry if I upset anyone. But here are the links I have http://musclegennet/clinicalstudies:html and https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/ncto2919657?term=genepro&ranks -
GENEPRO
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The last link I couldn't get registered for. So I didn't read the whole article. That is a bummer. I would really like to read it. As for you saying I would have posted the link, I really didn't think it would make that big of a deal. I thought if they really wanted to check it out then I would give it to them. I knew that there are people that would get upset YES but to attack me I didn't think so. OUTSIDEMATCHOUTSIDE you act like I am stupid and anyone that has a college degree would know what to do. I'm so sorry that I am so DUMB!! -

Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey guys, I don't care for the conversation here. The studies were not just them. I am not trying to sell anyone any thing. For myself I will keep using GENEPRO. I am not selling this at all. I have my email with the information. I don't know who made you judge and jury here. Have a great day -
What are your thoughts, experiences?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to shelby73's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
You know being a closet eater can be one of the hardest eating disorder to quit. I feel like it is like when I started smoking at a young age, it made it much sweeter when I snuck around, also like partying when you are young. Getting away with it makes it more appealing for sure. I had my RNY almost 4 years ago. Due to having strictures (like scar tissue) I couldn't eat many things so it kind of became a ritual of eating the same things over and over again. So I became someone that would wake up 4 or more times a night and I would eat something every time. I have a serious thing that happened to me due to this problem. I sleep nude and I got uyp to go to the bathroom and seen a ice cream on my night stand, I thought hhmm maybe my hubby got it for me. NOPE!!! I had went outside in my grundies and got it for myself I was sleep walking. This has happened so much. Finally I talked to my PCP and I have been depressed, and having anxiety attacks. So I was put on Paxil 10 mg daily which I found out right away not to take them in the morning. They make me sleepy. Now I have been on them for 1 month and NOT ONCE have I got up to eat!!! YIPPEE this is an ongoing problem that if nothing else has been put to rest!!! The excitment of doing something wrong is going to get me in trouble. LOL -
