unflavored protein powder

Also I forgot to say...they sell GENEPRO at the BariatricPal store. If it was so bad for us would they be selling it? Just another thought. -
unflavored protein powder
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Soni572's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Welll...I know I will get blasted about this because there are a few people that don't agree with my choice of Protein.. I love GENEPRO BTW I am 4 years out and I have tried sooo many Proteins I would hate to find out how much $$$ I actually have spent. So anyhow this is the only protein unflavored which is unflavored. I mix it in my Espresso every day. It cost a little more but oh so worth it. Good Luck -
Sleeve vs RNY
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to toby585's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just a thought. Everyone says that the SLEEVE is less invasive but what about them removing up tp 80% of your stomach. Yes the RNY does have its issues but you will hear of so many having to get the revisions done. For some reasons like GERD etc. I think that if it is medically needed to revise that is one thing but so many times on different sites you hear them say my SLEEVE or Lap Band didn't work for me I stopped losing weight. Or whatever. I also don't think anyone should go into a WLS with intentions of revision surgery later on. Now I know that I will catch back lash on this but...each to their own!! I hope everything goes great for everyone. Take care -
Sleeved on 5/17 and down 40lbs. Good or bad for a guy?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to PAguy's topic in The Guys’ Room
You are doing great!! I was a fasyt loser also. I lost 20#'s a month also. But I had problem with Strictures and couldn't eat or drink and needed 5 ENDOSCOPES with 4 DIALATIONS. Quick fix. But my problems started right away within my 6 week check up. It started NOV 2013, DEC 2013, Jan 2014, July 2014 with my last endo being Jan 2015. Everytime my stomach feels funny I think OH NO!! But I do think that is why I lost so fast. I almost lived on Oatmeal, Baby Bell cheese and Cheetos!! BAD choice but I needed something to eat. My PA ask me why I didn't eat carrotts. LOL I told them they didn't taste as good as a CHEETO. They were fine with it because I was losing so fast. The Nurse for my Surgeon ask me if I had ever stopped losing weight. Of course I had. Sad but true. It took me 4 years to be abe to eat a beef steak, or whole grain bread. I just now can take 1 slice of bread with 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of cheese. I am so addicted to them!! So I hoe everything is going great for you all. Take care. -
No One In The Sixties?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to grannykathy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi I am 61YO. I had my RNY when I was 57. I just had my 4 year Surgery Anniversary on July 2nd. I have had great results. Here are my STATS: HW 249 (I was 285 but managed to lose some over the last 6 years) SW 235 CW 130. I just gained 5#'s. I am trying not to stress out about this. I totally deserve this, I have been eating nuts big time. But now I am back on track. Man it is hard!! I still have no physical hunger at all but HEAD HUNGER is SO SO REAL!! My BMI is 23 so I am still ok. It hurts big time to have to admit this has happened to me. I know that it happens to the best of us. So onward and upward. I can do this!! As I have told others I know I can because I have what it takes cuz I have done it before. Have a great day!! -

Thinking of joining WW ?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to digi1024's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Little Green, I am sorry that you are having this trouble. I do know that it used to be against TOPS guidelines to even be a member if you have had WLS. But that has changed in a big way. Yes the members that had WLS couldn't be in the contests. But most everyone was ok with a WLS lady that came to their group. I do see what you are saying but at least you can be held accountable. I have been involved with TOPs for quite awhile heck I was even a Leader, Weight Recorder etc. I didn't have my WLS yet. But the last time I quit I felt like we had many connections with everyone. When I stopped going, I called the Leader just to see how everthing was going. She was totaly rude to me!! This was a person who we (my daughter even my hubby started going) had lunch with and thought she was my freind. NOT!! It just went to show me that I was wrong thinking our group was what the TRUE TOPS was supposed to be like. -
Exciting journey
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to AdorableAsian34's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If it keeps up I would ask your DR to do a ENDOSCOPE, you might just have a Strictures. Easy fix they dialate it during your ENDOSCOPE with a balloon. They said it is kind of like scar tissue and it makes it hard to eat and keep it down. Just a thought. Good Luck -
Thinking of joining WW ?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to digi1024's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You ever heard of TOPS? TAKE OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY> It is a pretty good group. You have a yearly joining you pay a certain amount (I don't remember the $ amount) It isn't real expensive either. There is a lot of support and lots of incentives to win a little money. Might want to give it a try. Most of the memebers are very nice and supportive. Just a idea. -

Sleeve vs RNY
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to toby585's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You know I didn't have enough info on the DS. I just heard bad things about it. If it was like the woman I knew who had a business. She couldn't or didn't control her bowels. She wore WIND SONG perfume and let me tell you those 2 smells together were NOT appealing. I still don't know much about that surgery. I was told by my PCP before my WLS that I needed both restriction and malabsorption!!! I totally agree. One of the best things I have done for myself. -
What types of things do you pack for surgery in Mexico?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to nurse247's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My hubby had the SLEEVE in Juarez, Mexico. We had to bring our own wash clothes. They were not provided. I had Protein drinks and water when we went thru customs, they made us throw them away. I think a person could have fought it but not sure on that. The protein/water are very important for us. I would not recommend the site we used, it was BELITE WEIGHT LOSS. They are not up to par with many things. I know this much for sure I paid big $$ to get some chicken noodle soup for hubby afterwards. Had to drain it. Noone had any kind of broth. Hopefully your choice of where you go will be a great experience for you. Good Luck -
Sleeve vs RNY
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to toby585's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi, I chose the RNY!! For one thing I was told that it was "THE GOLD STANDARD" of WLS. Since then I see many getting great results with the SLEEVE. I had my RNY on July 2, 2013. I have maintained my 124# loss for 3 and 1/2 years. I did go below my goal weight but I did gain back 8#'s which was and is a good thing. I lost to 117#'s. I had some troubles with Strictures and had 5 ENDOSCOPES with 4 DIALATIONS. Not good but it was a easy fix. My hubby had the SLEEVE and in 1 year jhe has lost 135#'s. I am sure he could lose faster and lose more if his choices of food were different. When I started my journey one of the things that made up my mind was this, I felt like I had one shot and told myself GO BIG OR GO HOME!! I am totally happy with my choice of WLS. Good Luck on your Journey and keep us posted. -

Why do we fall off the wagon? & How to get back on?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to bostonmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Everyone, I hope you are having a nice day, the weather is beautiful here in Roseburg, Oregon but it is starting to get hot again. Now I can attest to trhe struggles of WLS and Maintance. We fall of the wagon because GUESS WHAT? We are human and we make bad choices at times. Because wer make bad choices DOES not mean we are BAD> It is a choice that we have ti becme aware of what our choices will effect us in negative ways. Now we all know what it takes to be successful, do you know why? Because we have been doing it for however long we are out from our surgery!! Just keep your eyes on the PRIZE!! Now KEEP ON KEEPING ON!! -
I totally can NOT drink those. I didn't like them at all. Nor the ATKINS Brand of flavored protwin waters. YUK I commend anyone that can handle them. Good Luck You must do whatever you can to get it done.

Revision 12 years later? Band to...
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to twistedbarbieLA's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Personally I wouldn't go into a revision with the thought of having another surgery. If you are like me, I want it done right the 1st time. I know about the Band as my hubby had his for 13years and then all of the sudden he couldn't eat or drink. The plan was to revise the band to the RNY. When they got in there his band had eroded into his Liver. There was to much bleeding and damage that they backed out and told him in 3 months they would do another surgery to the RNY, he got deathly sick because he had Abcesses. He was so sick and it went on and on!! For 9 months and 2 extra surgeries and Wound Vac and daily removal of the black bandage that looked like a SOS pad. # months he doesn't even remember!! It was HORRIBLE to say the least!! Fast forward to 2015, we used my Kia Soul and got a loan. We went to Juarez, Mexico. Thats another story that I won't have you suffer thru. When they got in there his entire right side was solid scar tissue, once again they couldn't do the revision to a RNY!! They did do a SLEEVE on him and a year later he has lost 135#'s!! Also lost enough that they could do a ablasion on his kidney because he had Cancer. They couldn't do anything until he lost enough weight. So that was a huge relief for us all. Any how this has been a long post and I am sorry, but I just wanted to say we don't always get what we want done so I stick with my upper post as "Don't go into WLS thinking that later you can have another WLS done. Good Luck I look forward to following your journey!! -
I would choose a Breast lift, Tummy Tuck and LIPO. I had my Panni done and I was really disappoiinted because my PS didn't come thru with what he said would happen!! Not that I am not HAPPY that 10 plus #'s are gone....BUT!!! Such is life!! RIGHT My hubby said I would never be satisfied that I would always find something that I wasn't happy about. I think he is kind of right, I can find so much looking at myself. Oh well. I have to admit LIFE is GOOD for sure.

Thoughts running through my mind, two weeks to surgery
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to focusonthefuture's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The thoughts running threw your mind are totally something that we all went or are going thru!! I had my RNY 4 years ago and I have been at my goal weight of 125#'s for 3 and 1/2 years. I still follow many of the suggestions from my Surgeon. Now I am not perfect and I do have my quirks. LOL But if I didn't follow what I still do I am afraid I wouldn't be on this site. If you follow your guidelines you will sail right on your journey. I will share the particulars of my own journey. HW 249 ( this time I was at 285 but managed to lose some before I started) SW 235 LW 117 CW 125#'s. I have been very successful in my journey. I owe it to my food choices, my exercise which I started right after I was released from the Hospital. I had to stay in a Motel for the 1st week because I was 2 and 1/2 hours from my Dr. I started walking around the Motel as soon as I got settled. Now I have never been one to just learn to do things on a small way!! I like to call it B@@@S to the WALL or 0!! I have learned to manage myself now I don't fall apart because I didn't get to go for my walk. I now have figured out that life doesn't always do what I think it should. It is a learning experience for sure!! I am going to shut up now I get to going and keep on going. You being familar with the Medical side will help you so much!! Thank you for sharing and I look forward to following your journey!! One more thing KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE AND ALSO KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!! -
Upcoming RNY 7/11
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to 2anewdiva's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can do this!!! I didn't lose much on my 2 week protein drinks. I WAS a diabetic also, insulin resistant and took 100units of Levermire 2 times a day plus 500mg of Metformin. Now I take 0!!! I use to take 12 different medications now I take 5 was 4 but just got started on Paxil for my ANXIETY and somewhat OCD LOL I have never been diganosed with OCD but I know and my family all know I have a small amount of OCD!!! I am 61 years old also. I was 57YO when I had my RNY. It is one of the BEST things I have ever done, it ranks up there with marring my bestie freind my hubby. Also having my children. I did have a few complications easy fix. If you ask me if I would do it again? With everything inside of me YES YES YES!!! Keep us posted on journey. Good Luck -
How much weight did you lose after your tummy tuck?
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to onmyway11's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had my Panni 2nyears after my RNY. I Ask my PS how much weight did he think I would lose with the skin removal, This is what he said to me. This is not a Weight lossing surgery at all. I have lost a total of 124#'s. I actually got below my goal weight in 6 months (I weighed 117#'s) I didn't feel good and I didn't look healthy. But I did gain 8#'s back and now I have maintained my 125#'s for 3 and 1/2 years. My PS removed 10 plus #'s of skin. The weight I lost afterwards was water retention from my surgery. So I guess he was right there. LOL Good Luck
