I was told that if we drink anything to early after we have ate that it pushes your food out of your new tummy. Which in turn makes you get hungery faster. Now for me...if I forget and drink to early it hurts my stomach BAD. It is really important to follow everything our Dr's have on our guidelines. I know sometimes I can hardly wait to drink I am super duper thirsty. And it does seem hard.

I know i had posted earlier about my dilemma finding a GOOD BRA that does all of my hiding of loose skin. Well, my new best friend came in the mail Thrusday!! I know it cost quite a bit more than I want to pay but...ladies let me tell you about this awesome new bra!! I have back fat that I haven't been able to hide also my under arms. The skin on my boobs that used to be ok. Well I have found THE MOST COMFORTABLE BRA ever!! It is called SHAPEEEZZ!! Let me tell you it has everything that I need in a bra. I did pay quite a high price but it is so worth it to hide stuff that shouldn't be here and have my back look smooth again. I really can't say enough good about it. So LADIES if you want something that fits and gets all of your bells and whistles taken care of this is the one!!

My Surgeon and my Nutritionist either one said anything about giving up my coffee. I would have been one to commit HAIRY SCARY!!! I love my coffee. I have my Espresso with GENEPRO unflavored Protein every day. It has 30grams of protein so for me it is a WIN WIN because I would drink my Espresso any way. I would say whatever your Dr.'s guidelines are follow them. You could ask them when and if you can have full blown coffee!!

Spouse says to stop losing weight
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to customademe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can totally relate. I went below my goal weight, I had my RNY JUly 2, 2013. In 6 months I went from 249#'s to 117#. Everyone in my family thought I looked sick and that I had lost to much weight. I did gain just 8#'s!! Now that number doesn't seem like it would make a big difference, well it defintly did. The gain made my family happy and I have maintained my weight of 125#'s for over 3 years now. Does your mind catch up with your body? Mine HAS NOT!!! I just now don't go to the PLUS SIZED racks. It totally blows me away when I try on clothes and see the size I am in. If I look in mirror and stop at my neck I can see the loss. But...any more looking down I still see the FAT ME!!! I have FAT days and not so fat days. My daughter just doesn't get it, she see's me and just thinks I am being weird about my fat days. It is REAL!!! -
THEY are the WORST!!! I even stink myself out!! I told my hubby of 43 years that PAY BACK IS HELL!! I have put up with his farts now he can deal with mine. LOL Every time I go to the store it seems like I get the huge gas pain!!! I can't do it because everyone would know it is me. LOL If you are arounsd other people you can just blame it on them!! LOL

One year post DS and seeing slow weight loss
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Trena Tee's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I don't have much info on the DS but I can say that I have gas big time and have had since my RNY in July of 2013. I have found something that really helps with gas and helps with digestion. It is a easy fix. I take PAPAYA ENZYMESthe great thing is you can buy them at WALMART for less than $5.00. They are great. Doesn't everyone's weight loss slow down? I lost my weight in 6 months and went below my goal weight. I did have some medical issues come up but I hear from other people that there is a Honeymoon phase where you lose pretty fast but then it slows down. CONGRATULATIONS on your AWESOME weight loss. -

Already cheating 5 months post op
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to bowlofcherries28's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
As was mentioned above, HE HAS TO DO THIS!!! It is so easy to fall back into bad lands believe me!! I am 3 and 8 months out. I had problems with strictures and couldn't eat hardly anything. So I ate what I could keep down. Both my Surgeon and his PA knew what I was eating but they were in the mind set that I had to eat something. So long story short I could eat oatmeal, Cheeto's and crackers!! Well, I don't eat Cheeto's any more but those DARN CRACKERS have a great big hold on me!! I fight with night eating everyday. I wake 2 and 3 times most night s and guess what I eat YEP CRACKERS. I get a hold on it and then I fall off the wagon again. Now my hubby had a Sleeve done in June of 2016. He has not followed his program much until the last few months. So I go with him to his DR appointments which his DR was kind of jumping on him. He said My wife really does a great job of taking care of me. Do you know what his DR said? She said, Mister this is on you!! Not her!! You have to do this not her!! I was a little shocked. But the bottom is THEY DO NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!! I know it is hard. I still give him looks or say things about not making yourself sick but.....it is on him. I don't force feed him and I'm sure you don't with yours. I am sorry that you are going thru this and I know how hard it is for sure. Just keep doing what you can and know that he will wake up again and hope it is before he gains to much of his weight back. Hugs -

I don't want to alarm you but...have you talked to your Surgeon? If not maybe you should be tested for STRICTURES. They are loke scar toissue and it makes your opening to small. To be honest I was on Protein drinks for the fiirst 4 weeks after my RNY. I am 3 and 8 months out. But I had problems with keeping any food down. I had 5 endoscopes with 4 dialations. I had my surgery July 2, 2013. By Sept I started having issues. My 1st endo was in Nov, then Dec of 2013. Jan of 2014, July 2014. Also my last one was Jan of 2015. What you are describing is exactly how mine went. I couldn't even keep down water. The good news is that it is a easy fix. They put you out do the scope and wake you back up. Please check with your DR. As for noticing your weight loss it does take us awhile. Our minds are the hardest to convince that we are losing weight and we still see the fat. Measure for sure!! Take a lot of pictures to keep track of your progress. I only wish I had, I just didn't want to see the big numbers so I didn't take my measurements. I am sorry now. Because you will lose inches when the scale says you are not losing weight!! Also, take a picture in a door way, you can really see your weight loss there. Good Luck and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!! -
Curious about rate of weight loss
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Lawyeress's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
You are doing great. If the scales were going the oppisite way then you can be concerned. I didn't have the Sleeve so I'm not exactly sure of what is the norm. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. I went below my goal weight in 6 months. I did gain 8#'s back. Here are my STATS: HW 249 SW 232 LW 117 CW 125#'s. So I have maintained my weight for 3 years. I am 60yo too. I walk 4 miles 3 to 4 times per week. Exercise is what I feel saves my bacon. LOL Good Luck in your Journey!! -
Yes the struggle is real!! I am 5.4 and on a freinds advice I bought some jeans called MISS ME. They are so long!! Plus they are not cheap!! I guess my plan is to wear my boots and hope they stay tucked in. I don't have anyone to hem them. I have a sewing machain but I am so illiterate about sewing. I can't even figure outr how to get my bobbin full. LOL I never thought to buy Capris. Might check em out. Do you just buy the longer capris?
-
My full is hicups too. Sometimes my nose runs too. The only thing is sometimes I don't get the hicups soon enough and it seems like I took one bite to much. LOL BTW I am 3 and 1/2 years out. We all have to just figure out what works for us the best.

Another thing to be aware of is when you buy from Walmart.com, if you think it is all from Walmart but they aren't. Then if you need to return them it can be hard to get a return label. Just wanted to say.

i just found these awesome looking bras, that do all of those things plus. I wear a size 34D. And they even do backfat!! BTW I am the same as all of you. Lots of skin to hide. I have actually been looking for something that covers everything. I have just recently tried 8 different bras. I went into JC PENNY under distress to have a proffesional bra fitting. Heck she didn't know what she was doing any more than I did. LOL We don't have any other place in my city. I am trying to go to a Proffessional bra fitting 2 and 1/2 hours from my home. If these Shapezzz bras don't work It is kind of expensive. With S/H it ended up being $85.00 which is way high but I am so tired of my bra back sliding up, the skin under my arms and my back hanging out every where. Maybe you could just buy one to seeif it is something you like. I just bought one so I shall see if it is something I can handle. Good Luck with your BRA hunting!!

Eat popcorns or not after gastric bypass surgery
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sara1981050's topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm not a SLEEVE person. And I do eat popcorn once in awhile. I had the RNY and I was told by both my Suregon and my Nutrtionist that in time (after you get to goal weight) that there are no forbidden foods. We need to eat in MODERATION. Now I know not everyone believes this but it works for me. My stats HW 249 (this time I had lost 36#'s) SW 232 LW 117 CW 125#'s. I got to my goal in 6 months. I have maintained my weight for 3 years. It works for me but like I said everyone needs to follow your Dr's guidelines. Have a great day -
Random Bariatric Thought of the Day.
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Navigating the Wilderness's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, my Surgeon had no personality!! Good Surgeon but not good with follow up. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. My hubby had the same DR and was getting a Lap Band removed and gallbladder then be revised to a RNY. Well, the Band had eroded into his liver so he made a judgemet and backed oout. But...said that in 3 months he wuld do his WLS. He got abcesses and almost died!! He was so sick for 10 months and 3 monthsn he doesn't even remember. Do you know what that SOB did? He dropped him right in the middle of all of that. Finall, after all of this our PCP said, This has gone on to long!!! I am calling your Surgeon!! Of course I said NO!! I could just see the Surgeon hurting him (he used his scissors ith no Lidocain he shoved it into his open wound!! Because I had Strictures (scar tissue) I had 5 endoscopes with 4 diaations. So do you want to know what that SOB called us? He called us PROBLEM KIDS!! I fired him and went to another Bariatric Center. If you are not happy ith your Surgeon you can find someone to help you. I was told that no DR's want to clean up after another DR. I transfered my records and was done with him. I can not believe the HELL we went thru with him. Before we fired him we told them that we idn't want to see him again we would just see the PA there. So many others have ved him, he thought we were going to sue him over my hubby. He had 5 bacterias and I could see his intestines. Never fee like you are stuck with a DR. If you aren't happy call around and get someone else. Our lesson was learned the HARD WAY!! Good Luck -

None from me. LOL Just KEEP ON KEEPING ON. You will get there no doubt. I didn't want to sound like I was just plugging in the words. This is the most common reply from everyone. You can do this you have alredy proved that you are working your program. -
2 years out
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to smcclintock's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
One thing that will help is go back to your basics. Make sure you get in enough protein and your water. Also maybe up your exercise. I am 3 and 1/2 years out so I know it gets harder to lose weight after we get further out there. There is a 5-day reset on line. I think you can look it up on line. Good Luck -
I would check all of youyr calories, fat, and mostly your protein to make sure you are getting everything in. Up your exercise and make sure you are getting everything in. It can be real disapointing to be at a stall. How far out are you? I hear lots of people have a stall around 3 weeks for sure. They are just a part of the process. Good Luck

Type 2 Diabetic and Lactose Intolerant
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Kenlybop's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That is a hard one fir sure. I found GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. It has literally saved my life. I was on a 2 weeks of protein drinks before my RNY and then 4 weeks of protein drinks after my WLS. I am here to tell you, I had "THE BACK DOOR TROTS" the whole time I was drinking PREMUIR Protein drinks. I mean I coudn't hardly get out of the house. After all of that time my Surgeon told me that I was Lactose Intolerant. THANK YOU MISTER!! Now when I say that I couldn;t go out I mean I COULD NOT GO OUT without wearing a pad!! So I am now 3 and 1/2 years out and when I found GENEPRO I was so EXCITED!!! It is unflavored and I add it to my coffee every day. You can add it to anything. Just temper it in some warm water and then put it in the stuff and you can enjoy your drinks without any difference. It is a little more expensive but it is so worth it. I hope this helps you, I just wish I would have had it all along. BTWS it has 30grams of protein in 1 Tablespoon. Now there will be some that say it isn't 30 grams but I have used it with all of my labs coming out great!! -
Eating Disorders Post Op (Food Addiction/Binging)
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to awillaweigh328's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It is hard enough without us being so very hard on ourselves. I can actually say that I was told before my RNY that in time there are no forbidden foods, that I need to learn to have things in Moderation. Now I'm not saying this mind attitude works for everyone but....for myself if I try to not hve a small treat once and awhile I go BALISTIC!!! It works for me!! Now I am 3 and 1/2 years out and I have maintained 124#'s for 3 years. I lost 132#'s in 6 months. But I did have a 8# gain after that. I had Strictures and was unabe to eat much of anything..I couldn't even hold down water. I had 5 endoscopes with 4 dialations. It started around my first couple of months out. I really feel like my lack of hunger (I still am not hungery) and my exercise has been my saving grace. Each of us have to find our nook and work it hard. I have tried counsiling because thru it all I ended up with a adversion to food. Eating used to be so enjoyable now it isn't on the top of my list. The counselor didn't help me much at all. I started with a local councilor that didn't have a clue what WLS was all about. I contacted myy Surgeon to get a Baritaric cousilor. Well her anwser was she wanted me to eat every 1/2 hour that I was awake!! Talk about getting frusterated and kind of hurt my heart!! Like I told my hubby, I refuse to trade oned eating disorder for another and become a grazer!! I had to work it out for myself and that is exactly what each of us need to do. It is not a one size fits all!! Kind of likke the clothes that say one size fits all. What works for me may not work for you. Please be kind to yourself we all have had so many negative things done in our lives. Take care of YOU!! And KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!
