Hi everyone My problem I have with my Dr is that when I went in for a fill which was my second one, He fused me cause I wasn't looseing the weight that I should have been. So he looked at me and pretty much blamed me for not looseing. Well I was doing everything right, I have been gaining fluid cause of my OB problems, well you know what he said to me " oh you can't blame that only on fluid". Well I wasn't. I was blaming it for not enough fill in my band. I need to go back and get another one, but I don't want a lecture again cause I havn't lose the weight he wanted. I started a gym at curves 1 month ago, so I am loosing it slowly. Which I was once told, "with the band you loose it slow, with Gastric you lose it fast" Well why should he give me a lecture for losing it slowly? When a Dr sits there and fusses you or give you the blame it makes you not want to go back and trust them. That's where I am at right now, I need a fill but don't want the lecture. A dr is there to help, so why are so many not helping when you are in need?

A friend of mine has the WII Fit and she said that if you are larger thent he weight limit, you can put the controll in your pocket and walk and jump on your floor. She told me that the weight limit is 600 pounds which she read online, but when her Hubby got on cause he weighs 350 it told him an error. But you have to have each a profile to get the weight right..I am thinking about getting one I have the Wii already I just need the Wii Fit..The walking one, you walk in place and it shows you that you are walking in a park, up hills, etc. I joined Curves and I love it. The trainers are great, the people are cool to work out with. The machines are not hard to do at all.

Looking for great recipes, low-carb and HIGH protein
kristylyn replied to rondawood63's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went to my dr yesterday and he told me that I can have 10-20 carbs a day. I told him that its so hard not to eat carbs cause it's in everything. So I look for things that say low carb on the package and to have only 10-20 a day..I am not loosing weight so he also wants me to write everything down that i am eatting. I think I was eatting to much carbs or to much of something for me not loosing weight. So it;s back to square one for me. -
Looking for great recipes, low-carb and HIGH protein
kristylyn replied to rondawood63's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can eat beans. I eat beans all the time and you don't have to smash them or anything. That's one thing my Dr tells me to eat cause of the low carbs and high protein they have..So Yeah you can eat when you are banded.. -
Yes it's for everyone. It's a good thing that you visit the support group and siminar cause that way you can educate yourself before doing this..
-
Nothing, it's free! You go there and talk to everyone and they go around the room and ask you to stand up or sit and give your name and how much you lost. Or you don't even have to say nothing. You can just say skip..Then they talk about everything or you can ask questions..
-
Yes you can. It don't matter who did the surgery, the support groups are open to the public, weather youhad the lapband or looking into it.
-
Who did your band?? I am from Houma, and there is a support group meeting next wedensday on the 22nd at 7:00 at the physican surgery department in the imaging area. Try to make it there. I should be going also. You and me are in the same boart. I was having trouble with it also, but I did learn not to drink. I had mine in April 2008 and I have had 2 fills and an unfill..Cause right now I am retining water and that is making me gain weight, but my Dr thinks I am not doing it right. Fredrick Rau did mine and believe me he will yell at you if you don't do it right cause he did that to me, and he is wrong not me. I just found out that my body is keeping the water in. So now I am on fluid pills to get rid of it. I have lost another 7 pounds since I am on them.

New here... insurance question
kristylyn replied to MzSnapCup's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BC/BS of Louisiana and they do not cover it..Other BC/BS of different states will cover it. Just depends on what you have on coverage..Good Luck! -
I was having that problem also and I ended up taking a fill out. I don't know what kind of CC band I got cause my Dr don't tell me, but I have only had 2ccs and the last time I had another 2ccs and I was getting stuck with that. So He took 1cc out and now I have 3 so maybe I do have a 4cc band. I don't know. But do like everyone said To eat smaller bites, and slow down..Plus another thing my dr told me was that you may be getting stuck cause you are not ready to eat yet..Even though your brian is telling you that you are hungery, but is your stomache telling you?? You may not be ready to eat yet and still full from the first food that went in you..So maybe make sure you are hungery enough to start eatting again after your last one. Since I gotten a fill out, it's been better. I havn't threw up or slimed. but now it seems like everything is going down easy. In a month I will see if I will get my other fill back. Good luck!
-
Thanks everyone for the advice..It seems like sinse he took out my 1cc, like I can eat anything.Even bread and chicken that use to get stuck..Right now I am trying my hardest to get a hang of the can chicken, tuna, and imation crab meat..i added eggs, mustard, relish, etc..and It's getting better for me..I seem to want it with crackers..But I try to eat it just like that..I may have like 5 crackers with it..So I am trying... As for sweet Mama, I hope you get the help you need..I know how you feel, I am in the same boat..Maybe go to one of your support groups and ask people there for help..Maybe someone is or did what you are doing..It might help...

question on restriction....
kristylyn replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I started feeling that also durning the month, and they find that I was to tight..So I had to get some taken out..Plus if you don't watch it, you can gain weight from it like I did..Every food I ate was hurting me until it was soft..So I started eatting the wrong foods like Carbs and I gained..So if it keeps up you might have to get some out.. -
The problem I am having is that I can't seem to find the right foods to eat..I know to eat lots of protien, but WHAT!!! My Dr keeps telling me to eat meats, beans, cheese, etc..But eatting to much meat will cause high cholostral and I am not going to get that..I gained 7 pounds this last month cause I was to tight..Weird is what I say about being tight and I gained..Cause I was eatting soft foods like oatmeal, pasta, etc..So now I need help on what to eat so I can loose these 7 pounds and more...Does anyone know of good and tasty recipes or web sites that I Can look for these foods????

My surgery costed 14,100.00 and I was an out of pocket patient..But I went threw there loan called surgeryloan.com that's who they go threw..But they do take insurance, but I have Blus Cross Of La so mine isn't covered..
-
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Yeah I know how that feels to get under 400..I reached that feeling 2 weeks ago..I am 387 and I lost 43 pounds. Keep up the great work!!
-
Ok for those of you wanting to know about surgeryloans.com here it is.. I got approved right away within 1 hour. but I didn't have quit enough credit so I had to get a co-signer, which My parents did for me, well they got approved within 20 mins..Well after talking to someone on the phone getting all the infomation they needed, then email you all the forms, then you have to get a notity ( sorry for the spelling) to stamp them and then when you get everything done, you fax them over and then within 1 day after they talk to your Dr's assistant, They get the money sent over night to them and I had my surgery date with in a few days. Which First off, sorry I am going backwards, After I got all the paper work, they gave me my surgery date so I knew how long I had to get everything done..Which I only had 3 weeks to do everything. They are pretty fast.. The interest rate is very high, it's 17% on one of them and 19% on another. I only borrowed what my surgery will cost which was 14,100.00 But If you have a credit card or a home loan or something, I would use that, for those of you who think the interset if to high..Well I had a 3 month non-payment..Which I did send them a little bit of money durning those months..But come Auguest, I will have my first payment plan (bill)..My Dr's use them all the time and they told me they are very good and the payments are reasionable..So I will see how reasonable they are talking about..Hehehe... I hope this helps some people...Good Luck everyone!!

Haven't told my hubby :-(
kristylyn replied to heidib's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a question for everyone, Is all of your hubbys and b/f Skinny or over weight?? IF they are skinny, then that's why they are against it. They don't know the first thing about being "fat" or over weight, how ever you want to call, anyway, they don't know how it is to go threw life being over weight, so that's why they don't want to agree with you guys on doing the sugery or tell you that it's a easy way out..No it'snot an easy way out for us. I am an over weight woman and I had the surgery 2 months ago and I have lost 33 pounds so far and I FEEL GREAT!! My husband loves it that I am losing the weight and he does look at me a different way and yes the sex life gets better. But I just wish that all of yall hubbys would understand what or how you feel about this and being overweight. I have done over a year of research on this surgery and finally I decided and I sat down with my husband and he agreed with me and he told me that if this is what I want then go for it, and he is still here today by my side..YOu should make your husband go to the Dr's apt, anything you go to, make him go so he can see first hand and understnad it.. My husband is not skinny, he has some man weight going for him, but he is very tall and not over weight, but he does understand being over weight cause he started hurting his back when he was over weight. So I just hope that for all of yall, that your hubby's will come together with you.. For JWRN: My oppenion, is I don't know if that would be a good idea not to tell your husband cause of his condition..I mean I don't know what's going on with him and in your house hold, but to me, not telling him, he might think you can't trust him or have trust in your marriage or sercrets..But that's up to you..If you can get away with it and you feel comfortable not to tell your hubby then great for you. But I just hope that it's don't bite you on the butt when he does find out..I couldn't do that to my husband.. GOOD LUCK with everyone!! -
I went in today 5/28/08 for my first fill and when they put it under the xray machine to find the port, well they found it alright, UPSIDE DOWN!!! So now tomorrow 5-29, I have to go in for an out patient surgery and recut me open to fix the problem. Then my Dr will fill it at the same time. So I just hope that it don't happen again and that he sews is tighter and better then the first time. Have this happen to anyone when you went for your fill??? I hope everyone has a great day!!! Kristy

Haven't told my hubby :-(
kristylyn replied to heidib's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hubby is one of my biggiest fans second to my mom..Believe me if he loves you enough and knows what you are going threw being big and struggling threw life, I think he shouldn't have a problem with it.. But then again, I don't know your hubby. Just sit down and tell him how you are feeling about being big and the complactions that come with it and tell him all the goods that the lapband comes with. That's what I did with my hubby and before I was threw, he was with me the whole time. Matter of fact, He has been wanting me to get it, but didn't want to tell me cause he thought I would make some comment like Oh you think I am fat? Blah blah blah I told him. THat's just for skinny girls who think they are fat would say that.. Plus do the same with the kids. Be confident in yourself and him... -
A New begining ...
kristylyn replied to melizahuntz69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The only things I can tell you is when you start your 2 weeks liquid diet, don't freak out cause you are hungery, which I know you will cause I think everyone does, It's for the best and for your surgery. Plus, when you are eatting again, eat lost of protein first, take your vitamins, and just listen to your Dr and nurses on what they tell you. It will be a slow process but it will get done. Good luck with your surgery and band. -
When To Go Back To Work
kristylyn replied to Barbiek's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should take off for 2 weeks. That way you are sure you are fully better. -
Hey, Don't talk like that. No one is a failure. You will get the hang of this lapband. I am going on my 3rd fill in two weeks and I still don't fill that much of a restriction. I do get full though, but I start filling it when I am half way done my plate. My Dr told me this, if you loose 2 to 3 pounds a week, that was great. You don't want to loose to fast, Plus If you loose to fast then it wouldn't be the lapband cause its suppose to help you loose weight slowy. What kind of food are you eatting?? Watch your labels and what I try to do is watch my suger and carbs in that food. I don't count calaleries, but that's just me. I was told that I don't have to, so I don't. Plus what I also do is I eat between 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food on my plate. I know that don't seem much, But that's really what I can eat. I Have lost a total of 33 pounds within 2 months buy eatting like that. I try also try to stay away from carbs, which are bread, pasta, rice, pototatos..But sometimes I do eat them. Eat alot of meat first to get your protien in, then vegs, then fruits..But don't give up. It's easy to put on weight then take it off. Just have your Dr keep filling you up and you might just start getting a restriction when you are at 10ccs. Don't cal yourself a failure, cause you are not. You came this far. You are brave to get this done and it wil work for you. Just give it some time. I hope I help a little bit. Let me give you a BIG (((HUG))) and keep your head up. It will work for ya!!
