Looking for the most highly recommended gastric bypass surgeon
RXRW replied to debby1500's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I should add that the entire Team Approach lives from the Orientation class through Post surgery classes. I go see Dr. Witkowski next week to see how I'm healing and I have my Nutritional Group meeting about Stage 3 of the diet. -
Looking for the most highly recommended gastric bypass surgeon

Hi, hope I'm not too late. Dr. Elan Witkowski at the Mass General Hospital Weight Center is phenomenal!!! And having surgery at Mass General Hospital (MGH) is like nothing I've experienced before. -

Hi Everyone: For me this journey started when I went to the doctor in February 2017 about fixing my hiatal hernia. I have lived with the Heidel hernia for more than 10 years but lately it was giving me problems and impacted my quality-of-life. The surgeon I went to (who would eventually do my gastric bypass) let me know that he could fix the Heidel hernia but that unless I lost a significant amount of weight it would return. So here I am 6 days out from surgery and healing well. Greatest Challenges: Finding a good sleeping position that lasts for hours. Gas pain in shoulders. Greatest Accomplishments: No vomiting, able to do 4oz of Protein shake, teas, water, popsicles. Consistently staying hydrated and I love the taste of my vitamins. [emoji23] I hope to continue to share my journey with you all. I am thankful for this new lease on life and plan to take full advantage of it. Hi I had RNY Gastric Bypass on July 27th. Just came home today due to low red blood levels I am hitting my liquid goals by constantly taking small sips of water and herbal tea. I just drink and pee constantly. I also eat crushed ice. I don't have the indentation, but I am very swollen and gassy.

Thank you for your comments - especially those of you who HAD the same health issues that I currently HAVE. I really appreciate you sharing your own experience. It has helped me along in my decision-making.

Thanks so much. I am strongly leaning towards having it (obese, high blood pressure, GERD [hiatal hernia], high cholesterol, pre-diabetese). I believe I will get a third opinion. The surgeon thinks this is the way I should go. The PCP thinks surgeons just want to cut. :-)

Hi All, I am trying to decide whether to have the RNY gastric bypass. My PCP is against it citing that she has 6 patients who she treats and who've had major complications from the surgery, including osteroperosis. Has anyone had this complication or know of anyone who has?

Thank you for sharing your story. I am trying to decide whether to have the RNY bypass or not and this was an honest experience that I needed to read.
