  1. I was banded in 2008 as well. Lost 100lbs in the first two years. Had a slight slip & had to be unfilled. Got a fill of 1cc a year ago. Gained back 40lbs in two years. Just saw my doc and he wants an upper GI which wasn't done b4 the 1cc fill. Still having issues from time to time with things getting stuck. Anyway long story short. I too went done to 1000 cal diet and busted my butt at the gym 5 days a week. Elliptical, running, and some light weight training. I've had the 5lb yoyo too!! Weight seemed to fly off the first two years. Did some thinking and research and discovered that I have one difference Carbs. I was eating carbs and two years ago I wasn't. I just cut the simple carbs, (sugar& whites) and I'm down 6lbs. I'm also feeling a LOT better. Good luck! You'll find what work for you. You're certainly going about it the right way. Be proud! You're doing great!

    Who's With Me!

Met with my Dr. Today. He tolde to get lean and green instead of doing all liquids. I have 1 cc in a 4cc band and have a hard time with dry chicken. He wants me to get an upper GI to make sure band is in the right spot. Im feeling a little frusterated. I ate a salad tonight for dinner. It was soo good, but I almost feel like I cheated.- lol I kind of liked the control having only liquids gave me. Maybe, I'll do liquids a couple days then lean and green. Back and forth? Argh!!! So much easier when there are NO options!!! Thanks for the venting... All positive now...

    Who's With Me!

Made it another day. I see my doctor tomorrow. I have to say that cooking for the family has been sooo hard!!! I had to go to the grocery store today after work and I felt a little overwhelmed looking at all those foods...I did eat a sugar free pudding today. Is that food? I kida feel like it is, but I remember eating them after surgery. Getting my workouts in and keeping my calories under 600. Wow!!! keep on keepin on!

    Newbie - Anxiety and Panic

I can COMPLETELY relate to your feelings. I was so scared the first few weeks after surgery, but as soon as I got to chew something the anxiety went way down. I have found that I don't think about food as often as I used to. Also, I can eat anything now, just in moderation. I really hope this will be the case with you and your terrible feelings will fade away as your life gets back to normal. Good luck! I'll send positive thoughts your way!!!!
  10. Hi Lucy! I have the same sized band. Got my fill to 2.3 on Friday. I have restriction, but not as much as I'd like. I can eat more but have chosen to stop. I honestly worry that there will come a time when I don't have the will power to stop. I won't see my doc for another two months so lets hope it doesn't happen before then- lol. My doc did say that the band moves up and down so restriction can vary from time to time. He also said that he's given fills and everything has been fine and two days later the patient couldn't get down water. Hope this helps a little. And I wish you restriction from the band gods soon.-lol I also posted on you message board. Hope you find it . I swear I haven't forgotten my band buddy. :leaving::redface::sneaky:
  11. Hi girl! Sorry it's been so long. I swear I haven't forgotten you. How the heck are you? I bet the pounds are melting off!! Things have been so crazy with the kids and work I haven't had time to even check out LBT. Saw my doc Friday and got my first fill(0.5cc added to my 1.8cc) He said that was great for a 9.75cc band. Feel restriction so thats good. How about you? Any fills or problems? Hope all is well in the land of the thinning!!!!!!

First Fill Today -- Positively PAINLESS!!!

Wow, I've got my first visit on May 16th. I was rweally hoping for a fill because I am sooo hungry. I still haven't gotten off liquid though and won't until May 6th. Might be pure torture to go back on liquids that soon -lol. I'm glad it has been painless for so many. I made my husband take off work to go with me for some hand holding. can't wait to feel restriction!!!
  13. Wow Grace! What an inspiration. so let me get this right, you've been banded under a year and you've lost over one hundred lbs. That is wonderful! I hope I can do that well. I was reading that you eat in smaller portions, has that been difficult at all? What an accomplishment. congrats!!!!!

  14. Well, It looks like we're one line again at the same time. How funny! Just got home from work-ugh. I didn't want to tell anyone at first, but then it got awkward. I guess just for me. I did ask that it wasn't 'broadcasted" though. I don't know what I was thinking we are hairstylists for crying out loud-lol! I have found that how much I've lost is the topic of conversation as soon as I walk into the salon. It is hard because ther are some of my clients I don't want to go over this with. I, like you, feel like it's personal. But then, there are times that I feel like my life and apperance is under close inspection by my clientele. I know what you mean by not wanting all the attention. I've lost 17 pounds since my initial consultation. I feel great! How much have you lost? It's funny how much I feel like I can relate to so many people on this site. I didn't want to tell everyone in my family and thought that I had made that QUITE clear, but same situation as at the salon. People love to talk!!! Oh well that's enough of a book for now. lol. Take care and keep me posted on all your wonderful progress.

    Just Banded

CONGRATS! How are you feeling? I was banded on 4/15 and I am just starting to feel myself. the liquid diet is a little intense, but at the end of the day when I am lying bed I relize that it really wasn't so bad after all. It sounds like your goal may not be too far off. There are lots of people on this site that have lost lots of weight by their bandaversary. i know I would love to lose 80-100 in a year. Shoot, overnight would be great lol. I need to start my exercise program. I know that will only help me reach my goal faster!! Take care and good luck! Mariah

Sitting with the family at dinner is getting easier an easier. I LOVE IT! I am sooo glad I had this done. How are your boys doing with all this action? I bet everyone is super proud of you. 21. Hey there! How are you feeling? I felt great yesterday. Think I may have overdone it today though. Don't know, gas pains are back in a mad way. My stomach is constantly twisting, turning, and rumbling. So wierd. My husband has been amazed at our new LOUD friend lol. Are you back to work yet? How are you tolerating the liquid faze? I've found sitting down to dinner with my broth and my family eating normal to be extremely hard. Oh well it'll be over soon. RIGHT? Hope this finds you in great spirits!

    April 1st Avengers Check In

I was just banded on 4/15/08. I am doing well. Some pain and some crying fits like- what the heck did I do? But I'm done with my pity party and ready to get on with things. I gained 10lbs just from having the surgery. Doc said that it was from all the iv fluids and that it was normal. anyone else have that happen. I am thankful to say the added weight officially left today and I'm down 3 pounds since pre-op. Nice to say goodbye to the numbers once and for all!! I am shocked to have not three but fours weeks of liquids.I guess its from the repair of my hyatel hernia. I would love to chew on something!!! Sounds like everyone is doing well. I am so thankful to have found this site to "talk" to others in the same boat. Take care and keep LOSIN.-Mariah
  25. I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you've gone through so much recently. I can't imagine. I just wanted to say that I totally understand the loss your feeling over food. It was both my best friend and my worst enemy. I was banded on 4/15/08 and haved cried several times.I go through bouts of hunger but my drinks seem to fill me up. But, I am soooo sick of them. I also would love to have something to chew. The only couple of things keeping me going are... 1 I don't want to end up back in the hospital because I've seriously injured myself with food of all things. 2. I know that my four weeks of liquid are so small in the huge picture of things. Life can only get better-right? I am marking the days off my calendar. Can't wait to move on to the pureed stage-lol. Really though I hope things get better for you. Just think how happy you'll be to reach your goals and be without the diabetes. My thoughts and prayers are with you. -mariah
