    DeLarla???

Has anyone kept in touch with DeLarla? I was wondering how she was doing since her band removal. When I was first banded she was always posting and started some of the best threads. I think about her everytime I look at the before and after thread!

    Introducing Me

Lucky you that your insurance will cover this! I had to self pay since my ridulously expensive insurance has a total exclusion on WLS. As for all the pre-op visits, just take them one at a time. They are a hassle but no big deal. Get everything the Nut has to offer in paper form so you have it to refer to.

    drinking water fast?

I can drink a 16oz bottle of water in 10-15 minutes easily. I never "slam" anything down though, just drink it regular. Water should just about go right through if you 2 months post op. Only when I was very very very restricted (which I prefer to never be again) do I have to do baby sips and wait a few seconds in between.
  5. It seems like your insides would be in proportion to your height! I am sure that there are other shorter people that can chime in. I am 5'4" which is average/shorter height, but I had no problems with the surgery.

    DeLarla???

Davyna, I believe she had erosion. There is no way to PM her because she had her account suspended and is no longer a member of LBT.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I just have to shout to the world!!!!!!! I am almost at my surgeons goal! Less than 10 lbs, (but I want to lose to 135). Slow or fast you CAN get there!!!!
  12. Oh lord, my stomach was huge for 2-3 weeks. I literally looked pregant AND fat, lol. It really does help to walk a lot to let all the trapped air work its way around and out.
  13. Hopefully they will get all the details taken care of easily and you will get a date! I remember how excited and nervous I was when I was arranging all the details.... Good Luck!

    Banded Yesterday!

Welcome to Bandland! Sorry you are having a rough time of it, some do. Hope you turn that bend and start feeling better in record time!
  15. Have you had a consultation with a doctor yet? If you are truly considering lapband surgery it would benefit you and your husband both to get the facts and do some serious research on this procedure. The chances of complication are very slim, and a coma is something I have never heard of happening. Ever. If you take the pretests, and you are determined to have no underlying conditions that would make you a poor candidate for the surgery, this is no more life threatening or riskier than gall bladder surgery. I think like the above poster said your husband is just having cold feet for other reasons...which is understandable. This is an elective surgery that requires anesthesia, but it is still comparable in severity to having your appendix out or gall bladder removal...the chance of coma or death are virtually zero.
  16. About every 15-20 lbs for me. I seemed to carry more weight on my stomach, hips, and thighs though. I've dropped 12 inches off my waist with 75 lbs lost. That makes a huge difference in clothes sizes on me.
  17. I think I was down about 40 lbs......but like Cascadian mentioned, that was almost 50% to goal for me.

154 lbs!!!! OMG!!! I am only 9 lbs to goal! I am going to make it! Man I needed that fill, I went from 2cc to 2.7ccs. I think I may be pretty restricted. I dont like to be very tight......I prefer to be able to eat a healthy variety of foods and just have help with the portions. We will see.

  20. Actually Inamed recommends the first fill at 4-6 weeks, unless they have changed it.
  21. If you can eat 3 slices of pizza you probably need a fill. How is the weight loss going? If you are losing well, you may want to hold off. You need to work very hard on making sure that your bites are very small, smaller than you think you need to take, and be sure you chew your food literally to liquid. I didnt have those bandster rules down pat by my first fill and it really made me learn them fast.

Do you miss eating like you used to?

I dont miss it all. But there isnt much to miss....I pretty much eat whatever I really want, just much less of it now. I will eat a nice healthy meal and if I want ice cream afterwards I will have some. The amazing difference is that now I rarely want it, and if I do have some..... half cup is more than enough!
  23. Welcome to Bandland! Glad you are having such a smooth go of the recovery!

    What are your "automated meals"?

Breakfast: weight smart oatmeal or a Protein drink Lunch: automated is almost always Lean Cuisine Garlic Beef with Broccoli or Steak tips Portabello with Broccoli. There is also a Smart Ones that has green Beans on the side and a South Beach stir fry with all veggies......I avoid the Pasta, potato, rice ones Dinner: whatever meat and veggie we cook
  25. I could eat my weight in green vegetables! My favorites (and easy ones for me) are broccoli, steamed asparagus, endamame, grilled zuchinni, boiled squash, okra, cabbage, and snap peas. I always keep canned chicken breast around to throw on top of a salad and have an instant complete lunch, makes quick chicken salad also. Same with tuna. If you do snacks, a sliced cucumber dipped in Ranch is good. Fat free cottage cheese has like 80 calories in a half cup, and a whopping 12g of protein....sometimes I like to stir in a spoonful of sugar free Orange marmalade. Those are just some ideas off the top of my head.
