Are you in the U.S.? What state are you in? Maybe people can more easily recommend good doctors if we know a relative location!

I have PCOS and Insulin Resistance and have been taking 1000mg of Metformin for it for the past 3 years. I have lost weight a little slowly (averaging just over a lb a week), but I have no idea if the PCOS/IR was the cause. The main thing is that I HAVE lost!!! And not only lost, but even after a year I am continuing to lose slowly! So, yes for me I have finally been able to lose this weight.....and it is definitely credited to the lapband!

You can add me to the list of those that will be sending prayers and positive vibes your way. I love your additude on this, I really think stressing and obsessing when something like this happens is counterproductive! Wishing you a speedy and easy recovery from this!

Banded 4/3 and going out for SIL's BD
lianna replied to singandsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Absolutely, the onion soup broth is acceptable! I ask for that with "mostly broth and no bread/cheese". That is what I order when I get a fill and such. -
NO......I think the ones with the "true" talent should advance.
-
I personally doubt it was the cheese. It is much more likely that you are having too much fill to soon, or that what the cheese is ON is the problem. Make sure your bites are even SMALLER than you think is needed and that you are chewing literaally to liquid before swallowing!

I had a horrid overfill........docs mistake, but I had 2cc in my band and wanted a .2cc fill. He gave me a 2cc fill. I was actually able to drink water but the time it took to get home I was spitting foam. THe next day I was unable to keep my spit down and spitting up blood. He unfilled me to 2ccs again, but I can barely do liquids now 5 weeks later,,until dinnerr. Dinner is fine. Doc I saw today says I probably have a slip, am waiting for xx-rays.... Prayers and good thoughts welcome!

-

Liquid Tylenol was all I took, although they gave me prescription meds. I dont think your energy level will be up to a 5k walk that soon post-op, but it may be! Also, dont let those nerves get to you too much....remember what a positive thing this is that you are doing for your health and well-being!!! Welcome to LBT!

What weightloss rate is everyone loosing at?
lianna replied to flabuless's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been banded 17 months, or 68 weeks. It averages to 1-1.5 lb per week. I actually lost about 6 lbs per month for the first 6 months and then it has tapered off a little slower as I get closer to goal. -
I think they will go by the number that they have documented when they file, which would be 40.8. Check with your doctor on this, but I dont think losing some more preop should hinder anything.

The sticky rice on sushi has given me one of my worst experiences to date, actually 2 of the worst. I can easily eat a small amount of fried rice or steamed rice, especially when mixed with the different textures from the meat and veggies. But for me sushi is out. I think some people can tolerate it though. I love the stuff, but there are other kinds of Chinese food I love that fill the void.

I may start a contorversy...but here goes
lianna replied to Janine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love the Stevia. I have been using it in my coffee and tea since I found out I was diabetic, and it works for me. As for prepared foods, I usually just eat the regular (not sugar free) stuff. My DH doesnt like the sugar free puddings or ice cream, and I dont eat enough of it (or very often) to make much difference. But real sugar isnt really the "devil" either, a teaspoon only has about 15 calories.....if I am out of Stevia I use a tsp of real sugar in my coffee and dont worry much about it. -
Do our bodies adapt by 6 months and then stall?
lianna replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a little stall about every 20 lbs lost ....which I just came to look at as a time for my body and metabolism to catch up to the new weight. Plus about every 20 lbs I seemed to need a slight fill to regain decent restriction. I did have an actual plateau at about a year (lost maybe 3 lbs in 3 months) but have started losing slowly again. -
I didnt tell very many people at first. Once I was down about 30-40 lbs so many people started asking what I was doing to lose weight that I started telling people.

I actually like Taco Bell....lol. We tend to grill a LOT outdoors since the weather is so nice here in south Texas. Zuchinni is one of my favorites to throw on the grill! I just slice them in half lengthwise and sprinkle a little season salt on them. They are super good cooked this way!
-
I had coffee then a protein drink for breakfast. For lunch I had leftover fajitas with grilled onions and peppers and a small bowl of beans. Supper tonite is chicken and zuchinni on the bbq pit. Probably make a salad to go with it.

Did your shoe size change?
lianna replied to chocolate_snaps's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went down a full size and no longer need wide width. It certainly has made shoes more comfortable. Before, not only were my feet so wide....but I was getting edema in my feet and ankles which made it even worse. I can also wear heels all day at work without my knees, back, and feet killing me! -
I teach 6th grade! It has been well over a year since I was banded and I dont recall there ever being a time that my band inconvenienced me on the job. I took off a week and still felt tired when I went back, but was able to handle it.
-
I completely remember the nervousness AND excitement! You will be so glad you did this. And yep, I am happier in size 10 jeans than I ever was with a diet coke!
-
Lucky you to not get the gas pains!!! They were miserable for me! Glad to hear you are having such a smooth recovery. Welcome to LBT.
