End of 05 WLC - Don't forget to post your results!

I think it would be fun to have one until Valentines Day. Like 10lbs in 6 weeks type thing, or is there already one going? -
Too funny for whoever make the Fred Flinstone reference, my DH always tells me "Well lets go, go start the car" lmao. I am only down about 15 but rings are turning everywhere around my fingers, bra is in the last notch, and YES shoes are comfortable again. Some of my tighter ones even fit again. I have miraculously lost a lot of water retention with this.

A picture is worth a thousand words, lol!!!!!!!!! It's all downhill from here baby!

Insulin Resistance is on my list. I am not sure about the PCOS, although I have cysts on my ovaries (and fibriods, yea) I have never actually been diagnosed. I suspect I have it, I have other symptoms. I have never been clear on whether the fat you gain causes IR or does developing IR make it easier to make fat? My doctor has me on Actos since it is beneficial in helping high cholestorel, which I also have. Sadly, Actos usually causes weight gain.... although I have halfed my dose since banding and my BS numbers have looked good. I can lose weight when I try but it sure seems to be at a slower rate and I really have to work at it.

Its great that your incision is looking better. It is funny the way things happen like that. Last time I made an appt to get my hair cut I had incredibly "good hair days" that whole week. Makes ya go hmmmmm.....

I am taking a stab in the dark here. Maybe you loosen up to the point that pizza crust can force its way through, but in the process irritates the stoma, leaving some swelling. Do these incredibly tight times follow times of looseness? I was also overly swollen (completely shut) after surgery and have swollen the same after both fills, maybe there is a link and some people are just incredibly sensitive to swelling. I have no other idea what could be causing your band to be so fickle.....lol.

No flouro and no problems finding port on 1st attempt.

I also went through a week of sliming at the first bite. After my last (2nd) fill I was starting to slime at the first bite of ANYTHING. I wasnt pbing, just spitting up the mucus. I found that drinking a cup of hot tea before meals took care of it for me. I have no idea what caused that sliming on the first bite. I am pretty tight but the food wasnt coming up, just the mouthfuls of mucus. Cant help with looseness questions, I am tight in the morning and get looser as the day progresses.

Ditto to what Alexandra said. Also, coffee is one of the worst triggers for heartburn. Cut the coffee out and calm your stomach/stoma/esophogus with some antiacid. Prolonged reflux is very irritating. If you are able to get coffee and icecream down you should be able to eat creamy soups, oatmeal, cottage cheese, things with more nutrition while your getting through this.

My incisions looked great from day one. I had no staples or regular stitches though. I had internal stitches and steri strips. Physically I felt horrid on day 3 and after that each day was better. By the end of the first week I was almost back to normal.

My incision scar is about 3 inches up and 3 inches over to the left of my belly button. My port is just below the incision when I am laying down. I think it is funny that when I am standing I can feel it higher up but when I lay back for a fill the injection site is much lower.

We took a bus from the Texas border into Monterrey. When customs came onto the bus the guy asked my husband how much money he was carrying. My husband said a $8,000 cashiers check and about 500 cash. The guy looked freaked and asked what we needed that much money for, when I said I was having lapband surgery he relaxed. The guy stood in the aisle of the bus and starting tellling me that his sister-in-law and one of his co-workers had the band. He asked what doctor I was going to, what hospital, etc.... He stood there and chatted for about 5 minutes then wished me luck before going through the rest of the bus. Crossing back to the states we were only asked "purpose of visit" and I said medical. They just waved us on.

There is a fine line between being tight and being too tight. I felt that I was a tad too tight and called to my doctor about a slight unfill. After talking to him I realized that I am really not too tight for the things I should be eating. I have no problem with the soft foods, but can also handle fish cooked any way, chicken if very moist, and most all veggies. I was having major problems with steak, pork, and breads. The things I am/was used to building dinner around. My doctor actually advised holding off on an unfill and cutting out the things that I had problems eating. I guess my days of steak and rolls are over. In my case it was not the band being too tight but what I was still wanting to go through the band that was the problem. (However, doc did say that if I was having problems with liquids and soft foods that would definitely call for an unfill.)

I do the same thing. I will take a drink of water and swallow part of it and then hold the rest in my mouth for a couple seconds until I have to think about making myself swallow it. Maybe it fear of taking a too big drink, but the swallowing should be automatic. Oh well, I do the same thing when I drink wine, but I just like the taste of it, lol!!

any one ever cheat on liquid phase?
lianna replied to Nugent72197's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didnt cheat, but I only had clear liquids for a couple of days before I was able to move to full liuqids. I was satisfied on full liquids and didnt have any reason to cheat. I was pureeing bean and bacon soup, cream of chicken, potato soup, etc. (all pretty thinned out) They had enough substance to fill me up and keep from going crazy until mushies were allowed. -
How long did it take after your first fill before you got restriction
lianna replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a tiny bit of restriction with first fill, 1cc. Just got second fill last week and I think I may need a slight unfill. I am at 1.5ccs but cant do anything past soups and mushies without problems. I cant do anything at all but liquid in the mornings. I am thinking 1.3 may be good for me right now.
