  1. Well, I had a fill that put me from 1cc to 1.5 and I was miserable, never even managed to do well on mushies. Struggled with even oatmeal for almost 2 weeks. I had an unfill back to 1.3 and felt more hunger etc than I had originally had at 1cc, I mean I could eat bread for Breakfast. I had less restriction at 1.3 than I had had at 1cc. Got fed up and I went back 2 weeks later after the unfill and filled back to 1.5. This has been perfect for me this time. I can eat chicken, beef, vegetables and just about anything from lunch on. I am tight in the morning (oatmeal works, but not eggs or more solid) but perfect the rest of the day. So........I dont know why the exact same fill level is good for me 2 weeks later and was miserably tight the first time. I didnt lose any weight in between or anything. I think fills and the band both are just very fickle.

I'll try anything to keep me from eating!

You look amazing! You need to post the before and after everywhere. Seeing the difference would be EXTRA motivating!

Friday Fun Thread ~ Weird Fears

I love this thread! I always check the toilet, I am afraid that a hand will reach up and grab me. I find it almost impossible to take a shower in the house alone. I also fear the "ankle grabber" under the bed or under a car!! However, my worst irrational fear is poking my eyeball out. I can hardly hold a pair of scissors or knife without thinking "what if i reached to scratch my nose and punctured my eyeball?". Back in the days of thick black eyeliner and 3-4 coats of mascara I used to separate stuck eyelashes with a toothpick. I always had the fear of "what if someone bumped my elbow and I poked my eyeball out?" "what if I slipped and punctured my eyeball?" The fear is that I see my eyeball draining out jelly like stuff until empty, like a leaking water balloon. Eyeballs dont even do that, do they? LOL, silly thing but I think of it any time I have something sharp in my hand. Another one is driving under an overpass. I am afraid that a semi (never a car, always a semi) will choose that exact moment to crash over the edge and crush me. Maybe that fear is some twisted relationship to my fear of heights. Great thread, I dont feel alone in my craziness, lmao!!!

    Hoodia anyone??

What brand did you order? I am considering trying the "Pure Hoodia". Keep us updated as to whether this stuff really continues to cut the appetite some.

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

1/3/16 214 lbs 1/31/06 212 lbs 2/2/06 210 lbs I am not doing so hot on the loss. I even had a tiny refill up to 1.5 ccs. Hmmm. NSV- I have had at least 6 different people ask if I am losing weight this week. I havent even lost that much but I think it makes a lot of difference in my size and looks. I know that putting on that last 15-20 lbs took about a year and really was the final straw,,, flat out looked FAT, face and eyes looked fat and puffy, started hiding under loose shirts (trying to, lol). NSV 2- this one is the BIG ONE!!! I have been given the okay to start cutting my Actos in half, only 15mg now. With the lower carb intake my doctor thinks I will be fine on lower dose now. We'll see, but blood sugars have been really good for weeks! I had to edit this because the very day after this post I hit 210 and again the next day 210. I had been seeing 210-212 but didnt believe it yet, lol!

    Feeling guilty about giving advice

This is "a woman you work with". A coworker is not the same thing as a friend, you do not have a level of trust as a foundation for revealing something as personal as WLS. Since you say you have only told 2 people you work with about your surgery I assume that you dont feel comfortable having everyone know. That is your choice. That is what felt right for YOU. Some people do want to shout it from the rooftops and share this with everyone that asks, and I dont blame them...it is a wonderful thing, but that is not MY way. This is MY life and some things I just dont think are anyone elses business. This was a very private and personal decision for me. So NO, I dont think you have any kind of obligation to tell her about your band and no reason at all to feel guilty either.
  7. I dont really consider myself an emotional eater either. Like you, I have never in my life ordered more than one meal, or hid my eating, or ate because I felt like I had to fill some void, or any of the things that emotional eaters can sometimes struggle with. My main hang up with food is that it tastes good!!!! (and that I love salty foods and carbohydrates.) I would go for seconds on turkey or stuffing before I would ever dream of wanting a piece of pecan pie. I have no sweet tooth at all. My fat is not because of why I eat, or how often, and only partially because of how much....the fat is here because of WHAT I like to eat. Lasagna and garlic bread, Cheese enchiladas with refried beans and rice, stuffed baked potatoes, etc... lol. I think my portions were also often too big(but arent anymore). I rarely ate between meals and still rarely do. I do eat sometimes out of boredom, just not very often. However, I dont go for food when I am stressed, sad, lonely, mad, whatever. I read a post where the person stated that "we all have some kind of eating disorder, or we wouldnt be here"......and I really disagree with that. Some people are emotional eaters, some people are binge eaters, I was just a little too lazy and ate too much of the wrong foods! And YES that is in past tense;-)
  8. Sweetheart, if you went off your meds I hope it was with your doctors blessing!!! I really think you need to have some bloodwork done and get your A1c levels checked. As Jack said, in terms I only mostly understood LOL, if your 3 month average is elevated it is probably the cause of this unexplained tiredness. I am not positive, would assume, that it could have been a cumulative effect since you stopped your meds that your sugars have been creeping to higher levels. You mentioned eating nothing but startches and sugars all day......you sound like you are on a cycle of highs and lows. I hope you get this straightened out if it is indeed the cause and let us know what your doc tells you after your appt. Hugs till then, and STEP AWAY FROM THE REESES!!!!!!
  9. Are you sure this is not related to your blood sugar levels? You mentioned diabetes. I know that before I started medication I was having incredible waves of tiredness about 1 hour after lunch. A freaking narcotic, drugged, tired feeling where I could barely keep my eyes open, literally. That feeling was what sent me to the doctor to begin with....and of course I found that I had blood sugar issues and my lunches were usually my worst meal of the day (high carb, fast food, crap stuff)and caused the worst reactions. If your food choices are "crap" lately like you say, lol, maybe you are putting your sugars out of range. You should probably drag yourself to your doctor and get this checked out no matter what is causing it, you shouldn't be feeling this tired...especially if you know it is not a "normal" tired feeling. Get yourself checked out and see what can be done to get you feeling better.
  10. Okay, this week I was walking down the hall and a paraprofessional I see rarely was coming towards me and she said, "Are you dieting again? You're looking great." (this is why no one suspects surgery, i have a history of 20 lb losses and diets, roflmao.) THENNN....just today my janitor said, in limited English, something to the effect of "you are pounds down, muy bonita!!". Fabulous man and he is probably 70 yrs old. I am banded since Nov.1 and only 16 lbs down. These are the things that keep me going. Sixteen lbs is not much, but it puts the sparkle back in my eyes, more pep in my step, and I guess has me taking extra care with my makeup and hair, I just FEEL better. It is so MUCH more than just the scale... But the damn scale better start moving faster......I am feeling pretty cocky and just may replace the old thing.

    Jan 22

I weighed 213 this morning so I guess my whopping pound down for the month is going to stay down. I go for a fill tomorrow and hopefully that will get back on the losing end again! I love the idea of having a journal here. I think I will start using it to track my daily menus and weight for the week. I kept a journal like that when I was lowcarb dieting and it really helped to be able to go back to weeks with great losses and see what I was eating.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I didn't want to be a slow loser, who does? Yet I have always lost slow so I am not surprised. I did low-carb with 5 other women and over a 3 month diet "challenge" I lost 14 lbs and they all lost 35-24 lbs. And yes, I weighed LESS than the lady that lost even the 24 lbs. I was working my ass off coming home and working out and she was talking about how she "cheated at McDonalds with a burger and fries at least twice a week". I guess we are all individual in rate of loss but I think secretly I hoped that the weight would just miraculously fall off after banding, lol. I am now fairly content to recognize myself as a slow loser. I feel better and look better, and who knows.......I may hit a sweet spot or good week/month and push myself into the catagory of "faster slow loser". Regardless, I am in fabulous company!!!

    NSV

This will be the first post in my new journal. I find that I am a slow loser. Sucks. I was banded Oct. 27 and am only down 16 lbs. About half of that was in the first 2 weeks on the clear/full liquids. I have been exercising the past month though and can tell the difference in the way my clothes fit. I have some pants that are just flat too big now. The janitor at my school told me I looked thinner today......there is hope.

HELP! Banded 2 months ago w/ 7 pd lost?!?!

    What was your starting weight?
  17. lianna

    Why??

Oh, heck yea! I was having no restriction at 1cc and went to 1.5.......suffered for 9 days, gave up and unfilled to 1.3. Now I am anxiously awaiting Monday to go back to 1.5 because after 3 weeks I have no restriction now, seems like I have less than when I was at 1cc!!! This is a tricky business for me. I think I should have waited after the second fill and done liquids for a few days instead of unfilling. Strange how unique we all are!
  18. Another happy bandser post. I have not lost as much or as fast as I would like.....but I would'nt trade it. Are you glad you did this?

    Ok...who drinks?

I loved Scotch and water or a glass of wine prebanding, so I can still have my favorites with no issues over carbonation or too many empty calories. I have discovered that I like Sauvignon Blanc, a great light white wine, better than White Zinfandel. I dont know if there is any calorie difference but it is not as sweet as White Zin (but not as DRY as Chardonnay). I am such a lightweight now also... it is almost scary, lol. 3 drinks now and I am giddy and buzzed!!!

    First fill today

I understand that I have a 9.75 centimeter Inamed band with a 4 cc capacity. That is the standard Inamed band. I have 1.3ccs in it. The Vanguard band is different. Maybe you have that? It all depends on your weight, body, and stomach size what band they use. You need to find these facts!

    Had problems with malnutrition?

I actually take meds for insulin sensitivity so I sometimes hit hypoglycemic lows. The greatest thing about banding for me has been the fact that without eating so many carbs (i cant handle bread or fries, etc now) that I have been very stable. My prescribed diet, protiens and veggies is FOR ONCE enough to keep me full and satisfied so I can control those fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Malnutrition is not a problem with banding.
  22. YOU ROCK!!! As far as measurements, it is pretty great to see the difference. There is a site called mybodycomp.com that is free and will let you create an account and track all measurments. It wants ALL measurements......so have cloth tape ready. ( ex...ankle, calf, knee, thigh, hip, abdomen, waist, wrist, bicep, neck, etc....) It has really helped me stay focused on my body changing and not just the scale.
