I was in the hospital for 3 days/2 nights. I had abnormal swelling and couldnt get any liquids down, I couldnt even keep my own spit down. They wanted me on I.V. until I could sip a glass of water and have it go down. The upside is that in spite of all that I was super quick to rebound and was feeling okay on the 4th day and back at work on the 7th day. Really the first 3-4 days are the roughest as far as having all the gas and the soreness, then you quickly feel better and better each day.

Sweetheart, I think you are taking a step in a better direction in trying to find some healthier substitutions for some of the things you like eating and drinking! Sugarfree grape koolaid is NOT grape juice, but it is still pretty darn tasty. That switch alone will save you hundreds of calories and cut down on the sugar! I have told you before that I would NEVER criticize your choices...you are just too brave in being so honest in posting them...and this is YOUR battle. However, I am happy to see you trying to make better choices. I hope you make your 340 goal, but if you dont it wont be far away!!!

Ohh, I never feel like that about PBing, never! I hate to PB. I have only done it a few times because I hate it so much. I am so afraid I will mess up my band if PB too much. I really avoid anything I think is "iffy". I wont even eat bread because the first time I got stuck on bread it was so miserably painful, it isnt even worth trying now for the chance it will happen again. However, I do fight the head games. I have to fight the munchies many nights. Sometimes within an hour of eating I get the munchies.....so you know that is ALL in my head, lol.

I think some people are unfortunately prone to developing them. My best friend gained 60 lbs with her son and within 4 months had a flat stomach and not ONE single stretch mark. Lucky her. I have no children so I dont know what my body would have done, I fear I would have them all over also. I have some older ones due to teenage growth spurt and some from my 20s around my lower stomach, but they are barely visible now. Mine faded so much that I dont think others would really notice them, but I know they are there. I think the only reason I didnt develop them horribly with the weight gain is because it has been slow and steady and my skin gradually adjusted. Too bad there is no way to get rid of the things.

For me, factors other than the money issues affect my weight loss. I have PCOS and insulin resistance and found it nearly impossible to lose weight before banding. I am working hard at this and losing slowly but I am losing...so I consider this a success and well worth every single penny. I dont care if it takes 6 weeks or 6 months to drop 20 MORE lbs, as long as it comes off. Self Pay banded 3.5 months Losing average of 1.3 to 1.5 lbs a week No complications Banded in Mexico age 39

I was going to say exactly the same thing that has been said. Sip something warm before you start eating. Make that first bite or two very very small and chew it until it practically dissolves. Really take your time with those first tiny tiny bites. I also thought I was too tight after a fill and realized that this really makes a huge difference. As for drinking before meals, I can drink up to the first bite of food. I can feel the liquid empty into my stomach almost instantly, especially warm tea, and just stop drinking anything after that first bite.

Where did the "Whatya eating in Feb?" thread go, lol? I think it is a great idea to post meals. Shares meal ideas and creates a little accountability throughout the day. I also think newbandsters and wannabes could get a more realistic idea of "real" eating after the band. I always wonder where the idea that 2Tbs will fill you up comes from, because I have seen that several times now where someone is freaked out that they are able to eat more than that or that 2 Tbs isnt enough. Is that an RNY thing or something? Anyway, here goes b- 2 scrambled eggs l- BBQ brisket with pickles and onions, some grapes d- meat patty with mushroom gravy and black eyed peas

Take teeny little sips all day long. The warmer liquids went down so much easier for me. Sip on broths and decaf teas as well as your water. The first few days are a little rough but it gets easier each day.

Thursday I used to love to journal food when I was low carbing. I could have a week of great loss and always go back to see what I was eating. I remember thinking 'what the hell was i eating when i lost that 7 lbs in 2 weeks' and going back to SEE what i was eating. If I get a good idea of what I am actually eating maybe I can tweak something. B- bacon and egg taco, didnt eat the tortilla L- potluck at work.....bbq brisket and sausage, pickles onions, cheese cubes and grapes, 2 big homemade cookies S- meat patty with mushroom gravy

Yes! At least get down to 2 cups of plain coffee so you can make it through the week or two post op without such withdrawal. I think you shouldnt drink coffee right after banding because of the way they stitch the band to the stomach to anchor it, coffee is very harsh and acidic. I know that after healing my doctor has no issues with drinking coffee.

I do the Centrum Citrus Berry chewables and I think they taste good, like a sweet tart or something. But the micro ones sound like a good option for those dont like the chewables. -

I did teriaki meatballs for the superbowl party and they were a big hit. I got the bagged meatballs and poured a bottle of KC Masterpiece Honey Teriaki with sesame seeds marinade over them. You actually need to add some water because it is a thick marinade but the taste is awesome. Let simmer a couple of hours and they are done. Super easy. I had to take a dish to a potluck today (counselors week!) and I took a platter of the cheese cubes and some grapes. I like the no fuss options! -
Wednesday Ate like a pig at the superbowl party. Weighed 210 this morning but finally got my eating back on track today. I lost 4 lbs in January and nothing this month. I think I will have to start using fitday to track my calories. I wonder if I can get Dr Smith to switch me to Metformin. I hate losing this slowly, it is frustrating. breakfast 2 scrambled eggs lunch popcorn chicken supper 4oz filet mignon with mushrooms and some broccoli
