Posted before & after pics, finally after over a year!
lianna replied to lianna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Iluvharleys (Betty)!!!!! You are almost at goal too!!! It still seems unreal that I am so close. Of course, the lbs are slow slow slow to come off now. -
Took this last night before we went to eat. Great reminder of why I need to work on maintaining right now. Fourth week being unfilled. It sucks, but hopefully I can get in to see my doctor and work towards restriction again. He wanted me to give it 4-6 weeks to let everything calm down and heal.

Protein Drinks...good and bad
lianna replied to kacee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also like the EAS ones. I buy the Designer Whey powder. It has something like 100 calories, 20g protein, 3g sugar/carbs per serving, and the chocolate flavor is pretty good. -

Thanks so much! I am really 10 lbs to goal, I am on my fourth week being unfilled (due to major overfill) and have gained 3 lbs, I just refuse to change my ticker, lol. I could actually stand to lose about 20 lbs more....but I feel healthy and comfortable where I am at. -
did they forget to put the band in?
lianna replied to Lucygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually while you are healing you dont want your stomach to do ANY churrning for digestion...hence the total liquid diet.......... Dont push it! -

Band removal and sucess with WL after????
lianna replied to Listywood's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You dont necessarily need a "band doctor" right now. What does your general MD say about all this. He should be able to run routine blood work and do a physical to see if there is anything contributing to your issues that can be easliy remedied. (like gallbladder, or vitamin deficiencies) I was thinking that extreme stress can cause the forgetfulness you mention, your general MD might even be able to help with that, if that is indeed and issue. If your regular doc is one of the ones that is not being helpful,,,,find a new doctor. I hope you find some relief. -
Do you find its physically easier to eat garbage?
lianna replied to roxy123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I dont keep the bad stuff around the house, period. So I eat very little of it. I keep the fridge and pantry stocked with good foods that I like to eat, and that are band friendly for me. I think it may be easier since I keep looser restriction and can easily eat small portions of chicken, steak, pork chops, bbq, etc...I have few problem foods except breads. If I have a good meal of meat with salad and veggies I am not hungry afterwards and it is much easier to resist the bad stuff. When I was too tight I was eating more crap. I could have soup for lunch and grab a bag of cheetos 2 hours later because I was hungry. -
I had the same feelings with the gas. It is not the same kind "normal" gas you get in your intestines, but air trapped in the abdominal cavity from when they did the surgery. I could actually feel the air bubbles sort of move or shift at times. It can be very painful. It will eventually work it is way around and reabsorb so it can come out in one of the "normal" ways we expell air, lol. That is why you hear people recommending walk walk walk,,,,,it helps move the air around and work it out. I am sorry you had such a scare, but glad everything checked out okay!

How much money do you save now on your food bill??
lianna replied to areellady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I havent noticed a difference. I think it is about even. I buy better cuts of steak, more chicken breasts, more fresh vegetables and fruit. Quality over quantity, but costs about the same on my grocery bill. -
JulieNYC's Extended Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift
lianna replied to JulieNYC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Wow! I am so excited you! You look great, I cant imagine that you still have some swelling..... you will have to update the pics in another week or so if there is any difference! I cant imagine it looking any better...your results are going to be phenomenal!!!! -
I want to be within the "normal range" for BMI! 145 will put me on the high end of normal......but within it! I would really like to see 139! To be honest, I feel so good where I am right now that I stayed here I would be fine with it. All the health related issues are long gone (high bp is normal, edema is gone, IR, back/knee aches, etc). I look and feel healthy, and am easily wearing size 10 jeans and pants....so I dont think I even look very overweight anymore, even though my BMI remains in the overweight range. I can totally understand why some bandsters simply want to get to a point where they look and feel healthy again....even if that isnt at a normal BMI!

Do Not Go To Betencourt Medical
lianna replied to Leeann Chandler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is a very long story for an add.. I hope you get a good comisiion from Betancourtss,,,,,they have a nasty rep. edited: I have no idea why this is posted here! I remember writing it after I reported a post where someone was basically being a commercial complete with prices for the procedure and fills. ??? -
155 lbs I was down to 152, and have GAINED! I ended up getting an unfill on March 29th. I started having issues with my fill and not being able to handle solids well. PBd a few times, which hasnt happened in months. Got to the point only liquids and thin mushies would go down. I have been unfilled to 1cc for 2 weeks and it is tough. I ate a PBJ sandwich with a glass of milk for breakfast one day........so I KNOW that I am wide open. Have been trying to make good choices until I can get back to get refilled. Upside is I am in size 10 pants and jeans!

Girls: After you lost weight do strangers give you more attention?
lianna replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
I notice a huge difference in the amount of attention from men. The stockers at the grocery store never fail to ask if they can help me find something, doors are held open, many more "good mornings" and "hellos", etc... In the post office this week a man offered to let me go in line in front of him. (i didnt! i just said i dont mind the wait). I am not offended by THAT kind of attention. I think they are just responding to the happiness and confidence that finally shines through again, and hopefully just trying to be gentlemanly or something. Whistles when I am taking my walks and such.....that is a little offensive, but in a way an offhand compliment....because I certainly didnt get them when I started walking at 200+ lbs. -
The theory is that most slips and erosions are caused by keeping a too tight band. I would never keep it so tight that I could not get solid foods down after the initial 3-4 days post fill. That is dangerous territory!
-
Look on the main page and go all the way to the bottom, there is a room for UK bandsters! Maybe you can get more info there!
-
Great reminder. I personally hate the term "sweet spot", I think it leaves some bandsters wanting to get more and more fill/restriction looking for some magical place where they can eat "2-3 bites and be full"...which the band is not intended for. We SHOULD be able to eat small normal amounts of a wide variety of foods, and still slowly lose 1-2 lbs per week. I have read of people that are living on protein shakes because they are so tight, but they are unwilling to get an unfill because they lost 5 lbs in one week. I actually know of one person who says that they prefer to be that restricted......this is NOT what the band is meant to do. You are right on with the reminder to be patient and not view this as a "quick fix".

Tread for borderline BMIs 35-40 harder choice Out of po
lianna replied to Sooverit!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My BMI was just under 40. I had to pay for surgery out of pocket because my insurance has a total exclusion against any WLS. I have not regretted it for one minute. I also have no doubt that my weight would would have crept higher and higher as it had for the past 15 years.....so I am particularly glad that I didnt wait any longer to have this done. It was not a hard choice for me.......I looked at years worth of efforts in trying to take some of the weight off, and keep it off.....and realized that in 15 years my weight was slowly increasing each year. I didnt want to wait until I had created serious health issues and permanent damage to my body. I now think it is the best thing I could have EVER done!!
