I had clear liquids for week 1, full liquids week 2, mushies week 3, and worked to softer solids on week 4. It seems like every doctor has different guidelines. Follow yours and play it safe.

Tuesday 204 lbs!!! I am officially down 25 lbs in 16 weeks! I had a nightmare of a fill on Saturday. Done under flouroscopy my fill doc (who will remain un-named) supposedly added .4 to bring me to 1.9ccs. I swallowed water fine but by the time I got home I was completely shut and spitting up slime and foam. By sunday I was desperate and in pain. I called Dr. Sanchez and he met me Monday and when they (he and Dr. Susanah both met me) drew out fluid I was filled to 2.4 ccs. That fill doc had put me from 1.5ccs to 2.4 ccs and it just slammed me shut. I am so upset and will never go back to that fill doc again. I went 48 hours without a bite to eat or a sip of water. I was in worse pain than I was post op. How the hell could he make a mistake like that? I know I swell after fills, I was swollen shut after surgery requiring an extra night in hospital, and I let fill guy know that I wanted to take a conservative approach on fills. He read my charts before flouro.... I went from 1.0 to 1.3 to 1.5 and had wanted to go to only 1.7ccs this time. He said that he wanted to add .4 and take me to 1.9.....but I had 2.4ccs in my band. I absolutely love Drs. Sanchez and Susanah for driving 3 hours to meet me and do an unfill!!!!!and they didnt charge me a penny! I just dont understand how my fill doc could make such a mistake....needless to say I will never go back to him. I am now at 2.1 and taking off .3ccs was instant relief. It felt so good to drink that cup of water that I dont even mind being on liquids for a few days. b..... oatmeal with some flaxseed l......Cream of chicken soup d.....chicken with mushrooms and some sauteed zuchinni with squash I had no issues at all with breakfast or lunch and went for a normal supper and had no problems. I guess the liquids and mushies arent as necessary after an unfill.

1/03/06 214 lbs 1/31/06 212 lbs 2/02/06 210 lbs 2/18/06 207.5 lbs 2/27/06 205 lbs -9 lbs. I loved this challenge!! It helped me realize that I WAS losing slowly and steadily, even when I 'felt' like I was at a standstill. My goal was to lose 10 but I feel very successful. I can really see the differences showing in my body with the weight I have lost. NSV There are so many. I have lost almost 6 inches off my waist and 3 off my hips. I am in all new pants, 16-18. I am feeling really good. Edit 2/28/06 I made my goal!!! I hit 204 this morning! -10lbs -
I told my boss that I needed time off for a minor surgery. She asked no further questions. However, everyone else did! I said I was having a minor surgery to remove fibroids (a myomectomy) , it is done laproscopically and the recovery is identical. Nobody pressed any farther with wanting details. People generally ask out of curiousity, and are easily satisfied with a short simple explanation. Since the weight loss has been slow and steady for me (24 lbs in 16 weeks) nobody makes any connection.... they just think I am on low carb diet for the umpteenth time, lol.

Congratulations on that 25 lb loss! Now that you have proper restriction it will be even better. Keep the positive attitude and good luck!

Kellie, my husband was like that 3 times when he tried to quit. Irritable, edgy, a complete "psycho". He couldnt handle it at all. His doc gave him a prescription for Zyban (wellbutrin) and it was like magic for him. He was calmer and more level mooded than he was BEFORE he quit, lol. It is just something to consider. (and one of the side effects listed is possible weight loss.) He is now an ex-smoker of over a year.

Pills and Supplements

I am not taking anything now, but would consider it for the occasional tough days. There are some days that I wish that I could give my band some extra support. PMS gives me a day or two of wanting to munch all day long and never feeling satisfied. Occasionally I will have a weekend day that is like that....just from boredom I guess. Catch myself looking in the fridge then the pantry, the fridge then the pantry again because nothing REALLY sounds good. What works? I want some! -
Just hang in there untill you get a tiny unfill. It will make so much difference when you can eat something again besides soft/carby foods. I can so relate to your frustration on feeling like you have slow weight loss. I am 4 months out and down a little over 20 lbs down (actually 16 weeks and 23 lbs gone). I have always lost slowly so this doesnt completely surprise me, but it is discouraging at times to see how fast some can take it off. I considered taking my ticker off, it is almost embarrassing to think others may see my loss as a "failure", but I really think it is just a reality check that we all lose at different rates. 30 lbs is good for 5 months, and really it is right on target averaging around 1.5 lbs per week. At that rate you will be down 78 lbs at one year. I personally tell myself that I dont care if it takes me 6 weeks or 6 months to take off my NEXT 20 lbs, as long as it comes off!!

I am actually getting a fill today.....it is time, the hunger and portions have been an issue lately. Here is my yesterday menu. breakfast....inside of a ham and egg taco (tortilla went in the trashcan) lunch......... chef salad..mostly the egg, cheese, and meat on top dinner.......(went to bbq at friends) bbq rib, beans, guacamole and 4 chips

Tuesday 206 lbs Well, I actually stayed down a pound. I think that makes me 8 down from Jan. 1st. I am going to get a tiny fill on Saturday, not because of the rate of weight loss....but because I am hungrier all the time and can eat anything and hate it. I tried a bisquit this morning and had no problem at all, went down like butter. I notice I have to have a snack between meals or I am starving. I think I will ask for a .2cc fill which will put me at 1.7ccs. I have lost SIX inches from my waist now. I dont know how it is so much smaller when the scale has barely moved. b.....2 pieces sausage, 1 bisquit l......1 slice pizza and salad d......DH took me out and I had a 8oz ribeye and baked, ate most of both with no problems at all. I think my band is emptying before I finish eating. I know I am not very restricted.

What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
lianna replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving? I have not been here for long enough to answer this. I only know that I find tons of great information and support here. I also know that I hate to see anyone leave that has been a supportive longtime contributor on this forum. If there are negative posts/posters they are FAR outweighed by the wonderful ones here on LBT. I am hooked, I have to check daily to see if I am missing some little bits of wisdom or can share any I might have, lol. I am, however, freaking out over the references to "new members", is this all about me? Just kidding.....I hope :biggrin1: (I am so paranoid about offending someone that I usually only reply to benign topics, I am surprised I felt like responding to this.) -
Yep, 6 lbs gain the first day home here also. I couldnt come close to wearing my same denim capris that I wore to the hospital, I looked 6 months pregnant.
-
I will definitely be checking this thread for replies. I cant answer your question because I suffer from one week a month of hell myself. My issue is not PMS related eating but just the PMS itself. I get so irritable and emotional for a couple of days that sometimes the irrationality of it makes me feel crazy.....or crazier, lol. Angry, boohooy, crabby, bitchy, sentimental.....just emotions all over the place for about 3-5 days. Then I start my period and life is all normal again. I have often wondered if it would be worth taking something all month long just to keep a grip for those few days. Like I said, I will be super curious to see what others respond in regard to this.
-
I always brush my tounge and it makes me gag about 60% of the time. I guess it is too late for me to worry about it now, lol, but obviously it didnt hurt anything. I have a nice healthy band and am way past the healing stage.

I was told anything that exceeds 7.5% of total income can be deducted. If you were self pay I assume the the amount you can deduct depends on your income and what the surgery expenses were. I havent filed as of yet.
-
Happy Birthday!! You deserve a great one!!
-
I really had to read this twice and think about it and I still dont know what reply to give. I dont know that there is the same kind of normal for everyone. People look for what they need in their lives to feel happy and complete. Not all people need a spouse or "lifemate" for that. Some people dont feel lonely when they are alone. If you dont want a deeper relationship than casual dating maybe you dont need one to be content. If you are keeping yourself out of deeper relationships because you are afraid to let anyone get close, that is a different matter.

I am in disbelief. That is definitely a "monster" bed. See a doctor and then see a lawyer before you accept anything they offer. That is pure negligence on their part and you deserve compensation. I am not a lawsuit freak, but the fact that you actually passed out and hurt yourself makes this a much more serious issue than just a burn.

I had Dr. Sanchez in Monterrey and it was $8,000 for everything and fills are free. I had a great experience, but would only recommend doing the Mexico route if you have aftercare lined up.

Sunday Went over to Mario and MaryLou's last night and I drank 4 glasses of Merlot. I feel completely like shit this morning. I have the worst hangover ever. I took an Actos and had a bowl of potato soup. My blood sugar is probably going to be screwed all day now. I am out of test strips and need to go to Walgreens and spend freaking $50 and get some. I must have been majorly dehydrated this morning, scale said 204 lbs. It will be back at 207 tomorrow, I need to STOP weighing everyday, lol.
