I can't feel my port!!
lianna replied to drekagirl1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've always been able to feel mine, but I think it really depends on how deep the port is. I wouldnt be concerned over it! -
Our town has a similar ban. The difference is that any establishment that makes more than 50% of its profit off of alcohol can have smoking. That leaves every public place, except bars, smoke free.

What browser do you use?
lianna replied to Wheetsin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hmmm.....I did the Help menu and it says SBC yahoo DSL. But I use Internet Explorer. Now I am confused, lol. -
BJean, thanks! Alexandra posted a before and after pic for me on page 45! It has taken a while but I am almost there! I dont think Jordan will win....of the ones remaining she has had some very weak performances. However, as you said, it is down to some serious talent here. It could be anyones game from here out, but I see Melinda or Blake taking it. Either way, those two certainly have a future in store for them. (all of them more than likely). Chris' voice is slightly annoying to me....but I think even he could do well with country music.

Toqu, thanks I am going to get some. Kalyali, I didnt have to do a pre-op diet at all. I was just instructed to have nothing but liquids from midnight the night before surgery. Some doctors only require it for their higher BMI patients since a true "fatty liver" is enlarged and literally in the way. If your surgeon doesnt think you require a pre-op diet, I would just follow his instructions and not worry about it. Doctors seem to have endless variations on preop, postop, progression to solids, fill amounts, etc... It is best to follow your own doctors guidelines, and not muddle the waters by wondering about why we all have different ones!

Lucky you! I want a rash, lol. Really, you must very excited to be able to have this done!

I am curious about the Quickslim30. Do you only take 1 a day? I am considering trying something to help get this last 10 lbs off. I had stalled at 170 for weeks, finally started losing again, and now I am dealing with being unfilled (due to a major overfill). I have been unfilled for 4 weeks, and wont get a fill again for 2 more weeks. I would love to try the Quickslim30.....
also.....do you order online?

on the fence and can't decide
lianna replied to Tamjpjb's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I dont think you will regret the decision. I know of very very few who dont end up thankful that they had the surgery! -
Were you drug tested before surgery?
lianna replied to Candle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasnt. I have never heard of that either. -
Phil and Chris are out. I really think Melinda or Blake will win... but as has been mentioned, the door to contracts is open for all the remaining ones.

I take a Centrum chewable daily.

I really liked Blake last night. He is growing on me more and more, last night he just made it fun! I hope last nights performance by Jordan doesnt get her voted off, but I think Chris is definitely gone. Melinda blows me away every week, she is safe for sure. I dont have long to wait until tonites show to find out!

I am usually pretty tight in the mornings and just have a protein drink for that reason. I was never a breakfast eater, but my nutritionist said you need to start the day with about a 250 calorie meal to get the metabolism revved for the day....my protein powder with skim milk works for that. I cant stand cereal in the mornings,,,,,it leaves me hungrier within an hour than if I have nothing.

Excellent reminder.

2 weeks before 1st fill
lianna replied to cowgirldreams's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have already lost 10lbs, and you dont even have a fill! That is nothing to be discouraged about. This is a slow healthy process, not an instant fix, and the goal is 1-2 lbs per week. The first weeks/months were a little discouraging for me also, until I saw that the loss becomes fairly steady, and then I was able to relax and enjoy the process. Once you get a fill or two you will find that the band is able to help you make better choices and enjoy smaller portions....that is when it really starts "working"! Hang in there! -
"I finally have hope. I had lost hope in ever losing weight because I have tried everything twice only to lose weight and gain it back plus some more for good measure." That was me to a tee. I think many of us have "dieted" our way up to higher and higher weights. For me the band has been the one thing that actually stopped the insanity! I am very excited for you! I am saving you a seat here on the loser's bench! Good luck!

Hey everyone! I'm a newbie from Ohio.
lianna replied to OhioChick1982's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to LBT! This place is an excellent source of information and support. I couldnt have made it through the first months without it. Keep us updated and let us know when you get a date so we can be there to root for you! -
Welcome to LBT and congrats on making your first post! Walking is the best exercise to start with...it is easy, it takes no special equipment, and you can do it anywhere! Beware of the bread, it is common for it to be one of the worst problem foods. I cant eat it all unless it is toasted whole wheat bread.

24 lbs is already a great loss! Sometimes the body will just stop after a burst of loss, these little stalls are temporary.....I look at them as my body adjusting to the new lower weight. The loss will resume, hang in there!

Belly rash after a year and a half? Worry?
lianna replied to godley_gal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have never heard of anything like that being band related. It sounds much more like a contact dermatitis or hives. Did you eat something different, or are you using a new product? Sometimes hives can appear for no reason at all. -
I will be thinking about you tomorrow! I remember how nervous and excited I was the day before.....but I was suddenly calm the day of surgery. We will save some room for you here on the loser's bench!

When I started telling people I was totally honest about WHY I didnt spill it all in the beginning. I didnt tell untill I had lost about 30lbs (about a third of my weight goal) and by then I was confident that this would actually work for me! So I was pretty blunt in saying that it had been a huge personal decision for me decide to have this surgery, yet I was afraid it might not work. I didnt encounter anyone that seemed put off or hurt that I initially chose to keep a personal decision private for a while! People are pretty understanding.
