"Pars Flacida Technique This is the most widely used technique in the world. This technique is named for the tunnel where the device is placed and initially accessed through a veil-like ligament named the pars flacida. It is usually safer and faster than other obsolete, rarely used techniques and results in a higher placement of the device. This technique has been related to a drastic decrease in the number of band slippages or pouch dilations that may occur." I got this information from Lapband for Life. I was thinking that I remembered from my research that the Pars Flacida was the current technique that they are using now, which results in a lesser percentage of slippage than the older one (perigastric). Your doctor seems confused, lol!

Kurt, I just looked at your stats on your post from the 6th......did you lose 11 lbs in that first week? Wow!!!!!!
-
Kellie, we need new pics since your tt and lift! Cant ever have too many pics for inspiration, lol!!!!

It warms my heart to think that there ARE men out there that can see the PERSON and not just the weight. Some wonderful men we got!!! My DH has loved me from 130 lbs all the way up to 230 lbs and never complained, just been empathetic over how miserable it made ME. Part of what makes me so happy about getting this weight off (besides my own health and appearance) is being able to give my husband back a happier, healthier, (and YES thinner) wife!

My husband always says that "military intelligence" is an oxymoron.....he would understand the way you think, lol.

OOhh Penni, very good looking son you have there! Dimples AND brains....he has a helluva future ahead of him! You have every right to feel so proud.

Hey all! I am a 30-something......barely hanging there at 39! But I have decided I am turning 38 at my next bday, lol. I have been married for 13 years to a wonderful, sexy, supportive man. We have no children together, but he has 2 sons from the first marriage. Hubby is a firefighter and I teach 6th grade. My insurance has an exclusion for WLS so I went to Monterrey and had Dr. Sanchez place my band. I have been losing slowly but am thrilled so far. It has been amazing to see the changes as the weight comes off! I reached a major milestone this week,,,,,I am exactly halfway to goal right now! I suspect I may end up lowering my goal weight now, lol!

Yep Emilee, he's a keeper for sure!!!

I AM HALFWAY TO GOAL! OMG!! I dropped another pound and I have to post my ticker and share this with yall!! I started this wanting to get below 150, then decided to shoot for my docs goal of 145 (normal BMI), but now I am thinking it will be possible to get to 135 again! I am not "officially" changing my goal weight yet, but it IS there in my head now! I am so excited to see those numbers, even more so than when I hit Onederland!!! Thank you GFG for re-motivating me this month with a new challenge!!! Thank you Telly for inspiring me to get off my butt and do some exercise!!!
-
Dr. Curry, I think you must be a wonderful and caring doctor! I have never quite understood the reluctance and outright refusal of American doctors in wanting to provide aftercare for those of us banded in Mexico. I wanted to thank you for posting this information here, it is always nice to have a doctor in the house!

Could you sprinkle some sugar free jello on cottage cheese? I havent tried it but it seems like pink strawberry flavored cottage cheese would be good.

Hopes place, Inamed makes 3 sizes of band. There is a 9.75 cm that holds 4 ccs, a 10 cm that also holds 4 ccs, and the 11 cm Vanguard that holds 9ccs. You must have the 10cm which holds 4ccs.

Let us know what the endoscopy results show. I will be sending a prayer your way tomorrow. I hope that everything is okay and that unfill is all that you needed.

Hey Amy! My first though was that this is very similiar to the cabbage soup diet, which has been around forever. One of my girlfriends and I did it once years ago, we both lost a decent amount. We didnt add the other foods, just lived on the soup for 2 week, lol! It gets old fast but we DID lose while doing it. I wish I weighed NOW what I did back then when I thought I was fat.

Sending prayer your way, you should banded and in recovery or your room as I was write this!

I PM'd you but I will make a public welcome also!!!! I think you will be very pleased with the care you recieve from Dr. Sanchez and his staff! My DH was a little worried until we got to the guest house and then saw the hospital. Monterrey is a very upscale area of Mexico. -
HELP! Will insurance cover ER trip?
lianna replied to legallyKristin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am also so glad that you are feeling better! What a scare! -
C 188 (-41 total, -2 this week) OMG it is great to see the scales moving down again! I have been stuck bouncing between 192 and 189 for weeks. I saw where LegallyKristin posted that she had a complete unfill and it was instant relief. She will be unfilled for a few weeks to give it a rest.

Good Times, Bad Times - Anyone Else Have Mixed Feelings?
lianna replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nykee, you know I love you gurl! Do as she suggests and document...!!!!!!!!!!!! -
ummmmmm...The housekeeper was here today, and I sat on the computer feelling guilty while she cleaned my bathrooms. Oh well, I dont work all week to clean 3 toilets and mop on the weekends, which is why we have her, all guilt aside. My grandmother is the QUEEN of folding sheets. I saw the Martha Stewart thing (on Oprah?), she has nothing on my grandmother. I can fold em that way! But even knowing how, they are usually the "lumps" you talk about, lol, I just want them folded and put away. My grandma had NO OTHER source of self-validation but how well she cooked and cleaned. Dont worry about it, they're only sheets!!!!!

I have seen it! Cool stuff!
-
I love these statistics!!!! So far only 35 of 105 people chose to tell EVERYONE!!! I feel much better!
