Frustrated and TICKED Off!!! - Question about Scales
lianna replied to Yoda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I say take it back also. My digital doesn't vary over .5 lbs. I can weigh 3 times and get 186.5, 187, and 187. (or 187,187,187) Pretty darn accurate, but mine only has half lb increments. -
I cant chugalug down an entire bottle in less than 5 minutes like before, but I can definitely drink an entire bottle in say 10-15 minutes.
-
I am about 1.5 lbs per week on average. Even the first month with the liquids I only lost 6 lbs. I am happy that it is pretty steady going.
-
I am 5'4" and anything under 145 would be great, but 135 is perfect on me.

Way to go Telly! You are OVER HALFWAY TO GOAL!!!
-
Congrats Kristin! What a wonderful way to start the new year! Thats 7 and half months away, you can make your goal!!! I am super happy for you!

I wore capris sweats and t-shirt. Slip on shoes are great also, you wont have deal with the bending to put them on and take them off.

I am not big on Italian but have done Parmesan chicken. I stick with a salad usually. Penni mentioned Eggplant Parmesan, I love that and imagine that would be very band friendly also, just haven't tried it. Chinese is easy, we eat this fairly often. I get the Chicken and mushrooms, broccoli beef, shrimp with garlic sauce, etc... Just about any of the stir-fry Entrees, beef or chicken and great mix of veggies, and skip the rice. Seafood is my favorite. I love shrimp cocktail. I have eaten just about everything....lobster, fish, crab legs, scallops, oysters. I find all I have to do is be super careful to take tiny bites and chew to smithereens. I will discreetly spit into a napkin a tidbit that seems like it wont chew down enough to swallow safely. When in doubt, spit it out.

Penni, those are hilarious! Thanks for the laugh!

I am starting to wonder about my choice.

There are 8,030 members of this forum. Granted not all are active members, but with the sheer number of people that are banded and post you ARE going to hear about some complications. The percentage of complications with the lapband is actually very low.....and even slips, erosion, etc...are treatable. I really weighed the risk of a complication against the GARAUNTEE that I would have health related issues if I didnt lose this weight. For me it was a no brainer....I already had borderline high BP, insulin resistance, and high cholesterol...all obesity related. I was pretty much the highest risk possible for heart disease. I am already on the road to better health. I no longer take BP meds (BP now 120/72!). I have cut my Metformin dose for Insulin Resistance. My last bloodwork showed my cholesterol has dropped to only borderline high. I wish I had done this sooner! Huge bonus is being able to fit in Misses size 16 right now and be able to wear cute clothes again, and looking so much better! -
There is definitely a learning curve. It took me 3 times trying to eat bread and getting stuck to realize that it wasnt an isolated incident, lol. I haven't eaten bread in about 6 months now! I rarely PB, less than once a month. After a fill I have learned to be cautious and aware that some foods that were okay "prefill and loose" should be tested first.......a tiny tiny tiny bite, chewed literally to liquid, and then wait several minutes to see if it seems okay. I think I rarely PB because I am very good about the small bites and chewing well. It has been about a month since my last one, and that was on a pimento out of an olive, lol.

Crap, I have a face. I guess I am ready to quit being a closet bandster. I have been afraid to post pics because I was scared that in the billions of people in this world someone that I know might see my picture on here and know I had WLS, lmao. Amy, sorry your weekend was so UN-FUN. Was that tropical storm a little of a blessing?

I had the same feelings. I think it is perfectly normal. Dr. Sanchez is a wonderful surgeon, and the anethesiologist I had was banded by Dr. Sanchez just 2 weeks before my surgery! A pretty reassuring thing there. It is a big step. Exciting and scary at the same time. We are all so full of hope when we go into this surgery, hope that finally SOMETHING will work...and a little fear that maybe somehow we will fail at this too. Some nervousness is to be expected, and it will work if you work with it. You will be fine. I will be sending you some prayers and positive thoughts on the 10th.

EmileeKaye! You look fabulous! I think the dress is great on you, and those little strappy sandals are perfect with it! What great pics!

Jess, I also would like to see an updated photo now that you are all healed up! I am having this done when I hit goal, maybe even within 10-20 lbs of reaching goal. Every time I see this thread I am inspired all over again that I can have a great fit looking body at the end of this journey. I am built VERY similiar to your before pics. If I calculate right, you went from about 260 lbs to 160 lbs? Were you at goal when you had surgery? You look freaking amazing!

My bad...the 11cm band holds 9ccs. Check out Photonuts link a few posts back. It shows pictures of the bands unfilled and filled.

I can relate. Overall getting thinner makes me look younger, and definitely the weight loss shows up easily in my face....but I seem to notice the wrinkles more now. My upper eyelids also look kind of droopy. Still looks better than my old fat face I guess!

I love it! What a great idea put it into perspective!

5 days post band and tongue is really red
lianna replied to suchadiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you drinking Protein drinks at all? It really helps with the tired weak feeling. As for your tounge, I have heard of that happening. Like Penni says it most likely candida overgroth, or thrush. Easily rid of. -
Great thread! I feel successful! I have to date lost 50% of my weight in 7 months. I totally off meds for blood pressure (last reading 120/72)! I am thinking I will soon be off Metformin. The difference it has made in my health, how I feel, and my appearance is wonderful. I hear bandsters say this all the time.....but I really wish I had done this sooner!

How long until you were able to work?
lianna replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Thursday, so I was off exactly 7 days (5 work days). I felt pretty tired, still sore, and very bloated. I really think it made me feel better faster to get back out in the "land of the living" and feel productive though! -
I had horrid heartburn before banding. I took Prilosec daily and still kept Tums on the bedside table. I havent had it ONCE since being banded. Seriously, not one single episode. I dont understand how it makes so much difference.
-
Kurt, 11.2 is fantastic!!!!! I hope you will have a much easier surgery and recovery. Plus you have a jumpstart on the loss. Keep us updated on your progress, and good luck!!! I just noticed today makes exactly one month until your surgery date....you will have lost a HUGE jumpstart amount!

How much saline can the 10cm band hold
lianna replied to rroswelltx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I believe the 10cm and 9.75cm both hold 4ccs.
