I had my first fill at 1cc and it really made no difference. It was fast and totally painless. The doc did a tiny shot of numbing stuff and did the fill in less than 5 minutes. My second fill was up to 1.5 and then I felt some difference in appetite and satiety. The third fill to 1.7 is when I finally started losing weight steadily. Dont expect too much from the first fill, it happens for some people that they NEVER need a fill, for most of us it takes several.

Revision Surgery Update
lianna replied to Parvathi's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Glad all went smoothly and hope it continues to be easier this time around! -
What size band do you have? If you have a 4cc capacity band then 2.5ccs would be a bit much for a first fill. Regardless, maybe you a tad taken out so you can adjust to eating smaller bites and chewing well without having PBs.

What a wonderful early Christmas present! 2007 is going to be a great year for you!

Arrghhh.. Should I fill the day before Thanksgiving?
lianna replied to robinem's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a fill last year on Dec. 23. (I only have to do a day of liquids and a day of mushies though.) I remember having some dressing with tons of gravy on it, 2 bites of green bean casserole, and some pumpkin pie. Not sure if that really qualifies as mushies, but it was 2 days after my fill and I had no problems at all. I didnt miss the rest of the meal at all. I just sat and picked at my plate and enjoyed the company. It was pretty liberating to watch everyone ELSE get stuffed for a change while I was just content. Wanted to add....I was totally in the closet regarding being banded and NO ONE noticed that I wasnt really eating much. I put a piece of turkey and ham on my plate and gave it piece by piece to my husband. I had lost around 20 lbs already and I guess everyone just assumed I was dieting...or really totally did not notice! -
Please help w making decision/flipped port
lianna replied to lapmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If it is not too inconvenient I would go back to Mexico and let them fix it for free. I think a flipped port is just one of things that can happen. Maybe a stitch popped loose. I dont see any reason they would have to replace the port. It is usually done on an outpatient basis to go back in the same incision spot and flip and restitch the port. -
Confused, Scared am I big enough??
lianna replied to alcon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish I had done this BEFORE I got as heavy as I did. I would have loved to have been banded around 200lbs and not had as much weight to take off. After I got over 200 is when my back, knees, and feet really started aching from the extra weight....not to mention how I permanently messed up my health, I still have to take Metformin because the insulin resistance I developed is apparently with me for life. I say go for it, drop the guilt, and be glad that you will be able to get your weight and health under control for good!!!! -
I can eat the thin and crispy crust. We always get the one with bell pepper, mushrooms, onion, black olives, etc... the variety of textures seems to help. I can eat 2 slices of a medium, but I usually end up picking mostly the toppings off and ditching most of the crust.

very confused about band and fill-10cm band holds only 4 ccs?
lianna replied to prasman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I am glad they figured out what was going on and got you a proper fill! That must be a weight off your mind! -
I have been suffering from horrid insomnia. Now that I am off work on summer break I am waking up by AT LEAST 5:30, if I am lucky enough to sleep in that late, lol. We BBQued yesterday and had company....so I cleaned house beforehand for about 3 hours. Swept, mopped, vacuumed, cleaned and bleached all 3 bathrooms, etc...then played in the pool for 2 hours. I should have slept like a baby, but I was awake at 3:30, wide awake!! Does anyone else have this problem? I have suffered from insomnia all my life and have yet to find something that doesnt leave me with a "sleeping pill hangover". What can I take for this? Something has gotta give.

I finally made it to 169 lbs last week. Unfortunately I am still there, but I am thrilled to be down 60 lbs! Just over 1lb a week loss average and it would have been more without the damn plateaus. I am only 20ish lbs away from goal! Cant wait to be there.

Nov 17th band date but help
lianna replied to Kleigh830's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I cant take pills at all unless they are crushed or cut up finely. There are so many adjustment processes that go along with being banded, and for me this was one of them. I take liquid Tylenol and Benadryl as needed. I usually chew up my Metformin, swallow, and suffer through a few seconds of the vile bitter taste washed down with Water. I suppose I view it as a tradeoff of sorts....and the nasty tasting "ick factor" is NOTHING compared to how good it feels as each pound comes off. Also, the Viactic chewable Vitamins are actually pretty good, as are the Centrum chewables. I learned from my regular MD that most medicines can be ordered in liquid suspension and you can have them flavored (like they do for kids, lol) in your flavor choice like bubblegum, cherry, etc.. -
Hot does the trick for me. Occasionally very cold ice water will even tighten me up. Another one of those weird ways we are all unique in this process.

I didnt have any hair loss. Someone did a poll on this a while back, you might do a search and see if you can find the results!

Congratulations on you banding! Yes, that bloated feeling was miserable.... I unfortunately also looked 6 months pregnant with it, lol!!! You will be back to 100% and eating solids before you know it, hang in there.

I had to buy a new coat today! My old coat is a Women's 2X and is now completely too big for me. I tried on several different styles and ended up getting a long black wool coat in a SIZE 12!!!! I am so tickled, I love this darn band!!! It is so great to shop in regular sizes and have so many choices!!! Just wanted to share a happy moment!

What size are you and what is your goal size?
lianna replied to JAYGERL05's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am in a loose 14 pant right now and a large shirt. I would like to get down to a size 10, which for me will be at around 145ish I think. -
I was already addicted to shopping so the drop in shoe size was a great excuse to buy some new shoes! All my dress shoes, heels, and boots were slipping up and down on my foot. Thank goodness my running and walking sneakers still work, those darn things are expensive. I have wide feet, a high arch, and a high instep.....so all my tennies fit very comfortably now, albeit laced a little snugger.
-
I think slippage results in either a total loss of restriction or total restriction to the point of not being able to get anything down. You sound like you have classic symptoms of being overfilled. I bet the unfill will solve your issues. Hope you feel better afterwards, I have been too tight......it is miserable. However, a tiny unfill provides instant relief!

Well, I am happy that yall got banded and that it all worked out! I will keep you in my thoughts for a speedy hassle-free recovery!
