Quick question to guys about stalling

"My advice is to stay off of the scale for the first month, and then to only get on the scale with a frequency that won't cause you mental anguish." I couldn't agree with this more! My first 2 weeks post-op, I only lost 8 pounds and I was disappointed. This was coupled with daily weigh-ins that would only make more anxious about my slow start. Then I stalled for almost 2 weeks. Now I have started losing again pretty consistently for me. Congratulations wcherry5901 on your early and impressive start! The weight will come off. Keep doing what you're doing

  13. I also was also sleeved on March 8th and lost only 8 lbs the first 2 weeks and for the past 2 weeks, my weight has been at a standstill. I decided to stop weighing myself daily..it was driving me crazy. I apologize that I have no advice, but only words of encouragement. We have to trust the process. It's worked for so many people! Hopefully, both of our stalls will be over soon!

  15. Under your screen name towards the top right of the screen, there should be drop down menu after you click on your name. From there, click on My surgery. Then on the left hand side, click on Progress. Hope that helps!

    Phentermine after surgery

Actually, no nerves are intentionally cut with the purpose of removing hunger. The lack of hunger that some (not all) patients experience is due to less ghrelin (a hormone) typically produced in the part of the stomach that is removed. I am only 1.5 weeks out from surgery, but I have definitely experienced real, physical hunger.

    Help!

I had my surgery last Wednesday and the first few days were horribly painful as well and I am still struggling with pretty bad heartburn whether I drink or not. I agree with others about trying to walk as much as you can tolerate since that will help speed up the healing process in general. Also, I recently bought the isopure protein water which has made it much easier to get in decent amounts of both water and protein at the same time. Each day you'll be able to get in a little more liquid, be patient but persistent

Anyone 5'3-ish and HW around 230?

Hello everyone! I'm starting with around the same stats: 5'2.5" HW: 225lbs Current weight: 213lbs I still have 5 more days of my pre-op diet (for a total of 14 days) before my sleeve on March 8th! The nerves and excitement haven't quite set in yet..still fills surreal but I'm so ready! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Same happened to me. I think when you have insurance through your employer, the specifics of the policy can differ depending on what the employer and insurance company agree on.

    Surgery Monday 3/6

Congratulations and good luck to you! I will be sleeved on Wednesday 3/8! I definitely had a few "last meals" before my 2 week pre-op diet began. Mentally I think it was good in the way that I don't feel like I'm craving certain foods like I expected to.

So now waiting for the big day

From what I researched, a pillow to hold against your belly for the ride home after surgery has been recommended Next Wednesday is my big day! Good luck to you!!
  23. I'm now on day 3 of my pre-op diet. Yesterday, my headache and nausea were so bad that I had a hard time falling asleep. Today, I feel so much better with no more headache or nausea

Start my pre op diet today

Also just went through my 1st pre-op diet day. I was surprisingly not that hungry but VERY tired all day. Got home from work and was asleep by 6pm. Hence why I'm wide awake at 3:30am lol. Good luck! Hopefully this stage goes by as quickly and painless as possible!

    Date before insurance approval

I was given a surgery date (March 8th!) during my initial consultation with the surgeon. In the case of my surgeon's office, I believe they have good relationships with several insurance companies and are pretty confident that you will be approved. My surgeon's support staff was very helpful and outlined exactly what I needed to do and the deadlines to give them all the required paperwork. After that they submitted everything to insurance and notified me when I was approved (which was on Tuesday!). Of course this is not an absolute because I have read on this forum that some people's surgery dates have been cancelled when insurance was not approved. I would ask your doctors office if they anticipate any issues/obstacles with approval. On the other hand, the surgeon that I visited before I chose my current surgeon did not give surgery dates prior to insurance approval. They explicitly said it was because they had dealt with several insurance denials in the past and wanted to be absolutely sure before scheduling dates. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
