That moment you decided things had to change.

I'd been told that I should consider WLS by my liver specialist about 7 or 8 years ago and I was afraid of even the thought and said that I would try to lose weight on my own first. I've been trying pretty unsuccessfully for all these years, this March I was told by another liver specialist that because I haven't maintained any real weight loss in all these years and my liver is still unhealthy I need to have surgery as my last resort to save my liver at this point. I've been preparing for surgery all these months and I'm still working on it so I can get WLS so I can be alive and healthy to be there for my son as he grows up. This year it was a huge wake up call about the seriousness of my liver health. I've been eating a mostly clean diet for a few years and everything else in my health is great except for my weight and my liver. I have maintained good blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar levels for a few years now. I saw on a graph how my liver health and weight coincide pretty much pound for pound. Even going to the gym for a number of months didn't help me lose any weight. It's so very frustrating to constantly be fighting with my weight and having nothing work for me. I need to lose weight once and for all. My liver health depends on it and you can't live without a liver. All I have left is 4 nutrition appointments before I can finally schedule my surgery, everything else has been done and I'm ready this time. -

Ladies, facial hair is so embarrassing, does it lessen with weight loss? Let me know your experience with this issue, please.
ElysiaDee replied to ElysiaDee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's what I am hoping too! -
Ladies, if you gained facial hair issues when you gained a lot of weight, did it lessen and improve as you lost weight? It's so very embarrassing and takes so much to regularly maintain it with plucking or waxing which both hurt a lot! I'm seriously hoping some have had improvements to this problem as they've lost weight as hormones in your body change. I don't want to grow old and be the bearded mustachioed lady! Yikes!!! It's so super embarrassing just admitting this!

Tell me your Gallbladder Story...
ElysiaDee replied to Ldyvenus's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hurt for a couple weeks from the gallbladder surgery, but riding in a truck halfway across the country to change locations just 2 days after surgery probably didn't help that either. Greasy foods still bother me 11 years later. Luckily I can still eat spicy food though, some people can't after gallbladder removal. -
Tell me your Gallbladder Story...
ElysiaDee replied to Ldyvenus's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my gallbladder removed 11 years ago. I've had non-alcoholic fatty liver ever since I was pregnant with my son, he just turned 14. Now I need WLS to help me try to get my liver finally healthy before I develop really bad cirrhosis. I've greatly improved my diet and health over the years, and tried many things to try my best to improve my liver health, but even with so much effort my liver hasn't been improving and I have had a lot of trouble losing much weight, that is why I'm getting WLS as soon I am allowed. I should hopefully finally receive my surgery date sometime next month. My liver specialist recommended it to help me finally get the rest of my excess weight off and get my liver health back. At this point I am finally no longer afraid of WLS, now I am much more afraid of what can happen if I don't get it. -
Just been Sleeved
ElysiaDee replied to SleevesRbetterThanPantz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad that it seems everyone is doing so well. I'm getting pretty close to finally getting to get my surgery date scheduled just a couple weeks more and I will be ready. I've been at this since March. Jumping through the hoops needed and preparing. I'm getting more and more excited as I know that the real part of this journey will be here soon and I will be embarking on a new life. I love seeing all of the support and positivity everyone here is giving each other. You are all so strong and doing so wonderfully. [emoji254][emoji177] -

For fun, please help! Clothing Size vs. BMI?
ElysiaDee replied to Berry78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am still pre-surgery, but years ago I was even bigger than I am now. My heaviest I was over 300 pounds and my scale couldn't tell me my actual weight so I have no idea just how heavy I really was. I split out the backside of 5X pants when I bent over. I wore a tight 32w and my waist was over 56 inches around. My BMI was over 51. Currently I am still very obese, but much smaller and healthier than I was at my worst. I weigh between 260-250 and currently losing a few pounds. Depending on the clothes I can wear between 2X-L. I wear size 18w-20w & an occasional 16. My current BMI just got down to 40. I have a long way to go yet, but I also have already come a long way from where I once was. Can't wait to see where I will be in 6 months from now or how far I will be in a year from now. -
Congratulations! [emoji322] I hope you heal and recover quickly and fully. [emoji254][emoji177]

Is this like the recipe you used for your Ricotta Cheese Bake? I saw it online. Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave. -
Definitely congratulations! [emoji322] Can't wait to see that on the scale too! It is a huge deal! Welcome to Onederland! [emoji322]
