First Fill - feeling no restriction - is this normal
AmyJoy510 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill just yesterday. I have a 12 cc band. The Dr. said I had 1 cc in it already and added another 5 cc's. So, I have a total of 6 cc's. I did my liquid yesrday with protein and could not tell the difference. This morning I had oatmeal and feel the same way. I am not feeling any different. Is this normal or do I have to give it a few days? Any comments and thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! -

I was thinking that same thing. I thought - wow that is an waful lot for the first time. I feel good that my Dr. is at least going to be somewhat aggressive with the fills. On the 7th day I will be calling for another one if I dont feel anything. -
First Fill - feeling no restriction - is this normal

I agree that this is not an easy thing. My brother was so supportive when I did WW and then when I decided to do the surgery he said I was taking the easy way out. In no way do I feel that this was an easy way out. It still takes a lot of work. I just dont understand why anyone cannot be supportive of whatever one decides to do. I have realized I dont need his permission and dont care what he thinks. I have to take care of myself. -

I think if you are finally feeling restriction you are on your way to weight loss. Can you tell me how it feels to have restriction and the feeling of fullness? Maybe I am not thinking what I think should be the feeling of fullness. I just know we have to hang in there even though we had hard times and rough roads. -

I thought for sure I would feel something. I was told that if I felt nothing after a week to come in and they would do another fill. That is good so I don't have to wait but it also makes me nervous that if I get to 12 cc's and still nothing then what. -
How soon did you start exercising after surgery?
AmyJoy510 replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, which I never thought of before, my doctor said that even if you do 10 minutes 3 times a day is good and that the old saying "no pain, no gain" is not good. Exercise should not be painful or we wont do it. -

My doctor also said walking. No strength training for six weeks but to walk, walk, walk. -

I am 11 days post-op. Today I had lunch with a friend and ended up having onion soup (no cheese or croutons) 3 small breadsticks and a COOKIE! My doctor wants us on 4 supplements a day for 2 weeks post-op. That consists of drinks, jell-o pudding and water. Has anyone else done this and did I mess anything up? I feel ok, no pain but full but not uncomfortable. :w00t: -

Yes - I would love that. Thank you very much! I just like to know what is expected and why. I know why but need that sense of being told again. I did not go to any 6 month lifestyle meeting. I had one appointment with the nutritionist and that was to explain the liquid stage. Thank you again!!!!! My email is AmyJoy510@aol.com or if you post it here that is fine also. Like I said before, for me knowing ahead of time helps and will help in my success. -

They touched on the stages. I like to be prepared ahead of time. Like what kind of foods so I am not running to the store that same day. I know the stages are for healing but I guess I question why some are on liquids for 2 weeks and other for days. I know every doctor is different and we should listen to our own doctors but it just makes me curious. -

Lanejane - 4lbs is better than nothing. The liquida stage for that long is hard. I had trouble to. That is a great accomplishment. I am glad to hear we can have more stuff. So, I take it after these 2 weeks we can start "normal" food? Those drink mixes I have been making thick over these past 2 weeks. I hope that was ok. I hope I lost something also. I have a scale at home that varies 4 lbs. I can't stand that!! I do want to go to one of the support group meetings. I was thinking about one in June - not the 5th but the next one. -

Lanejane - did you have your appointment today? I am curious as to our next steps. My appointment is Wednesday? How did you do over the weekend? I did good. Can't wait to get out of this stage. -

I dont think we are suppose to have a lot of restriction yet. I noticed when I cheated prior I had that same feeling. Today when I cheated there was no feeling. I had that little friend also. I had to stop the pill 2 weeks prior and it came and then after surgery came again and now pops it head up every other day. It is driving me nuts. I would like to attend one of the support meetings. I have the schedule and want to chose a topic of interest. I was thinking of making my husband go so he can understand the process better. He has been very supportive in all of this but doesnt quite understand. -

YES - I went through MMPC. Dr. Baker. I have been on the scale. It looks like from surgery I have lost around 10. I lost 11 on the pre-op diet. I would so love to keep in touch. Were you going to go to any of the support group meetings? I wanted to try one and see. Let me know the next step after your appointment on Monday. I am so curious to know. My appointment is Wednesday. Good luck to you over the weekend. I will be thinking of you. We can do this! If you want - you can always email me. (AmyJoy510@aol.com) It would be nice to have a buddy and a close one. -

Lanegane - why don't you and I try to do it together? We can do this, right? I know we can! We ate and now we should be good until our doctors tell us different. I support you and know you can do it. If I reach for something I will think of you and that I made a deal not to do it. We strated off by making the right choice and getting the band - let's be a success!!!!! :w00t: -

Snowbird - I just noticed your weight-loss. That is awesome, Congrats! I am so down that I screwed up because I want success so bad. Throughout the years and all the failing it gets tiresome. I am in smaller jeans and feeling good and then I go mess up. Not only from a food stand point but from a healing stand point. If I should (which I hope not) fall off again I will post so everyone can kick me back on track. I have lost 21 lbs so far - I can/will keep it going. :w00t: -

Thank you to all that have applied thus far. I will keep to my liquid diet until the doctor releases me. How could I have been so dumb. I chose to have the band for a specific reason and now I cheat. Only a few more days - I can do this and want to do this!!!! :w00t: I am not sure but I think from the sugar from the cookie I am sleepy - not a good feeling when you have to work. I guess consuming all the sugar before you never really felt anything and then when you don't have it and then do - wow - what a difference. -
Can anyone recommend a good digital scale? I want the accuracy of a digital for weekly weigh-ins at home or if anyone has a better idea I am open to anything.

Having Second Thoughts - Need Advice
AmyJoy510 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for surgery on May 19. I am for it and then I change my mind. I think "why can't I try WW once again and really work at it?" I have been a member on and off of WW since 2000. I lost 75 lbs and ended up gaining it all back, plus some. I think I need something that says "hey - stop eating - you have had enough." I could use some wise words of wisdom and advice from those that have done through this. Thanks! -

Thank you to all who have responded thus far. Hearing testimonials helps a ton. I will keep putting one foot in front of the other and do my best. I want to be around a long time to see my son grow up. -
I have not had surgery yet (May 19) but I have heard the same thing about Unjury. The dietician recommended it and says it is one of the better ones. Good luck!
