    March sleevers hows everyone doing??

Everyone is doing awesome! My stall broke and I have lost two lbs this week. Yay! I weight every day so we will see if the two lbs actually sticks. About tracking: I tracked everything for the first month. Then I realized that I can't eat enough to make me gain weight. I mentally track my protein as I eat the same things all the time and have my protein water every day. I eat three meals a day and sometimes one snack a day. My one snack a day is usually nuts, occasionally pork rinds. I had to quit buying pistachios because I can't put them down. Even though I know my calorie count for the day was nowhere close to 1200, the pistachios may have played a part in my stall. If and when I am able to eat more food, I will start tracking. I am not suggesting that everyone do this, just that this is what works for me. The one thing I feel I should start tracking is my water intake (actually iced tea since that's what I mostly drink). I am probably getting about 64 ounces a day, sometimes more, and I need to up my game.

One of my favorite things to eat now. Love it!

    March sleevers hows everyone doing??

I am down 34 lbs and have been stuck at 198 for two weeks now. Keep telling myself it's no biggie but then I start to panic. I have been over 200 lbs the majority of my adult life so I keep having thoughts that this is the lowest weight I can get to. The realistic part of me knows this isn't the case but the fat girl in me is laughing and telling me that I can't do it even with the help of surgery. The fat girl needs to get punched in the face. Twice.

6 months post op caloric intake

You need to get some fat in your diet too. With as little as you are eating, I would concentrate on eating foods regardless of fat or carbs. I wouldn't eat crap food but things like beans, beef, bacon, sausage. You are setting yourself up for health problems. Take care of yourself.

Anyone post op from the PNW?

Longview, WA here. I am 7 weeks post-op and doing good. I am down 33 lbs. and hit Onederland last week. Woohoo!

    March sleevers hows everyone doing??

I had surgery 3/6. I lost 10 lbs. during my one week pre-op diet and have lost an additional 23 lbs. for a total of 33 lbs. I hit 199 last Monday and have been stalled for the last week. Stalls are going to happen so I'm just waiting for it to pass. How is the new way of eating going for everyone? Are there things you can't eat? Are you hungry? It's hard for me to get all the protein and water in but I haven't had issues with any foods making me sick. As I posted in another thread, there are some meats that I can't eat anymore because they taste horrible to me now. It might be the texture but halibut is definitely one of the culprits and I used to love halibut. I have tried it with lemon, tartar sauce, etc., and it doesn't matter. When we went camping this weekend, I forgot to eat lunch until about 3:30 and then I made myself eat some cheese and pepperoni just to get something in me. Since we normally snack all day long when camping, that is quite the accomplishment. I am very happy with where I am right now. I am out of plus size clothing and wearing a size 16 in misses. That feels damn good.

    Missing food: so emotional

This is the kind of thing I like to hear. It is crazy to think that we will never eat anything bad for us ever again. It's all about moderation and small portions. I know that I can't eat french fries twice a day every again. But knowing that I can have a few every once in a while helps me get over those moments of depression about food.
  8. I am 6 weeks post-op and have noticed that meat doesn't taste good anymore. I have tried chicken several ways (kung pao, teriyaki, grilled) and fish (even with lemon and tartar sauce) and they don't taste right. I don't even want to eat them but feel I need to in order to get enough Protein in for the day. I know there are other sources of protein. Other things still taste the same to me (yogurt, eggs, cheese, iced tea). What the heck is going on?

    Taste buds have changed

It is strange how we are all so different. We are going to use our smoker this weekend and I hope that some of it will taste good.

    Missing food: so emotional

It will get better. We have all been there. I was able to eat a half a deviled egg, very small amount of ham and au gratin potatoes and a tiny piece of cake. The cake was divine. I normally would have had several eggs, picked at the ham, lots of potatoes and a ginormous piece of cake. You will get to the point when you will be able to eat small amounts of holiday food too. With that said, I am fortunate that I don't have to cook for a family and then eat my chicken and broccoli. That would be rough. My hubby and I ate out all the time before my surgery and we still pretty much do. Not drinking with my meals is the hardest part, especially because we are trying to eat slowly. Allow yourself to be sad about it and then pick yourself up and maybe look for new recipes that sound delicious and are on point with your meal plan.
  11. I will be 6 weeks on Monday and have been able to eat soft foods, meats and nuts (soft nuts like pecans). I have only gotten sick once and I think that was from eating too quickly. With that said meats are difficult for me to eat because they don't taste good to me now. I hate that part of it but everything else is going well. Do what your doctor ordered and you will get there soon.

    Toast or crackers with meals

Do you work out? I would think that your body would need more than 20 grams of carbs a day for working out. I eat between 20-40 carbs a day. That's total carbs, not net carbs. I haven't started working out yet but will be starting soon. Once I start working out, I plan to keep my carbs between 30-40. My carbs come from yogurt, nuts, sometimes beans, and half a protein bar each day.

Are we allowed to chew gum?

I chew gum. It seems like I have breath issues from the protein so I chew gum to freshen my breath.

    Taste buds have changed

Isn't it horrible?! I loved halibut with lemon and tartar sauce and can't stomach it.

    Taste buds have changed

I needed it too but the queasiness I have just thinking about it is a head trip.

    Taste buds have changed

I had one of the P3 packs with cubed lunch meat, cheese and nuts. I could eat the meat with the cheese and it was good. I will probably make my own from now on because I prefer oven baked turkey vs. smoked turkey. On a side note, do any of you feel sick when you think about certain foods? Just thinking about meat makes me queasy. I had to really psych myself up before eating the P3 pack. We are going to a party tomorrow night with a nacho bar. I'm dreading it.

    Taste buds have changed

I have had a couple of my hubby's french fries and they still taste delicious. Of course.

    Hey Short Ladies!

Old Navy pants in short. Torrid has short also.
  19. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience. Maybe it would help if you and your husband could Skype with Bill Yanez and Dr. Illan together. My husband was dumbfounded when I told him my plan. I told him that I am an intelligent person and had done my research. I have repeated that same line to every person I have told. I am doing this for ME. I miss out on so many things with my family and in life because of my weight. My oldest son got married last year and has a 12 year old stepdaughter and my youngest son is getting married in September. I want to enjoy as much time with them on this earth as possible. I am tired of being the one who can't do what the rest of them are doing and I refuse to wear a plus size dress to my son's wedding. Your husband sounds like a good guy who is afraid. I get that. We are all doing this for our own reasons. Is your reason enough to help you stand up to your husband about your decision?
  20. Vicki - I'll let you know how it goes. Today is day 3 of the pre-op. So far so good. I even go to lunch with my sister every day and watch her eat yumminess. I will be happy when surgery is done and the liquid part of this is done. I don't want to get so sick of protein shakes that I can't drink them later. I think they will be a part of my regular diet from here on out. I have read about some flavored protein waters. Not as much protein as Premier but definitely a better option than not getting enough protein each day. Yesterday, I had two shakes, two soups and some SF jello. That's 69 grams of protein and 25 net carbs. Only 670 calories though. My goal is three shakes today. I am going with my sister to a WLS seminar for her. Her insurance covers WLS. She has talked about going to Dr. Illan but her husband isn't supportive of that. It's going to be a long process to go through our local center.
  21. Premier Protein shakes, Cambells Soup on the go (creamy chicken and creamy broccoli) and some other Soups that I am going to run through the blender. I kept the soup carbs to 10-15 per serving. I plan on adding broth to them if I need more to eat. I also got SF Jello and SF popsicles. I cut out my beloved Coke Zero two weeks ago. That was a little rough. I drink iced tea sweetened with Stevia or Splenda and flavored Water. On my first day, I only drank one shake, two soups, a thing of Jello and a popsicle. That was only 630 calories. It was hard to get up this morning so I will definitely be having two shakes today.

  24. I'm so nervous and excited too! I'm more nervous about being able to drink after surgery than anything else. I always have something to drink with me and always use a straw. I am going to have to re-learn everything. I also haven't been able to get in contact with my PCP to see if she will do all the follow up. She is on maternity leave until April.
  25. Bill has always responded to my emails quickly. The approval for surgery took a day or two but I assume that is because Dr. Illan has to review it and he is a busy doctor.
