Starting to panic...
MissChristina replied to MissChristina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made it! Like you Deb, I'd never had any surgeries and the thought of the anesthesia freaked me out alot. I had a panic attack at 4:30 in the morning yesterday and cried my eyes out about how scared I was. I have an amazing boyfriend who calmed me down. I was at the hospital by 7:30- originally had my surgery scheduled for 10 but for whatever reason it got pushed up to 1pm. Talk about a Long wait! Luckily I had my family there (more like an entourage) and great nurses that really helped me keep my mind of it and reminded me I had nothing to worry about. Afterward, the surgeon told my father and boyfriend that I did "beautifully" and my liver was very small, which meant he could tell I was dedicated to the pre-op diet. Despite my minor easter cheating I stuck to the diet BIG time the last week- which obviously helped. I feel good now, no major pain, walking around and slowly drinking a Protein shake. I can already feel the tightness when I drink too much or take too big of a gulp. I am so excited. My family and everyone on here is right- there's nothing to worry about. If you follow the directions it all goes smoothly. :tt1: -

Pre-Op Diet Cheating: Were you banded?
MissChristina replied to doodleallday's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great question. I'm curious as to what other answers there are for this. I've been good on my pre-op diet, until yesterday (Easter!) I had 2-3 pieces of candy and a hotdog. My surgery is scheduled for this Friday the 17th and I've lost 13 pounds. I'm so nervous that I may not get banded- it sounds like that would be a nightmare! -
SHOPPING Dreams...
MissChristina replied to MissChristina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YAY! Reading all of your shopping dreams makes me so giddy!!!! I am glad we are all so excited, it's what will keep us going during those rough days... -
I don't know about you, but with my surgery date coming up on April 17th, I can't stop thinking about how much fun SHOPPING will actually be once I get to my goal weight. I am so done with Lane Bryant, Torrid, Cato PLUS, and any other XXL type clothes with tacky prints and outrageous prices. I can't WAIT to shop at the outlet malls and actually spend $100 and walk away with SEVERAL outfits. I even am so excited to be able to share clothes with my sister, which I've NEVER been able to do. It brings tears to my eyes. Woo... Now I'm sure you each have shopping dreams of your own, what are they? What store can you not wait to shop? What is your dream outfit that you want to wear?

Post-Goal Weight Anxiety.
MissChristina replied to jukebox81782's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just my two sense, I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this to you or in response to your post... the lapband is different from the bypass because the weightloss is alot more gradual. From what I understand you can lose an average of 1-2 pounds per month, where as the bypass- I know someone who lost 50 pounds in 3 months- that's very different. The bypass does not give the skin time to retract back appropriately, therefore there is going to be more dramatic sagging. Every body is different, but from knowing people who have had both procedures and from what the doctor has told me, your skin should look alot different compared to a person who's had the bypass. I don't think your results will be the same as your mothers. Another thing to consider is age. I'm 25, and you being 26 we're very fortunate to have more elasticity in our skin compared to someone over the age of 45. you ARE beautiful, and I'm sure the surgery will bring out your features even more. Be excited! It's a whole new journey. You aren't ugly now, and you won't be ugly then. Like everything else, it'll take time to get use to. I know for me- I can't WAIT to shop at the mall in other stores other then Lane Bryant! New York and Company, The Gap, here I come! -
Contemplating Surgery!?!?
MissChristina replied to ssj2519's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to do it for yourself. I've been told time and again, it's not a solution- it's a tool. I know for me, I researched it for almost 4 years, went to my first seminar in 2007, and then decided to give it another try on my own for a year. At the end of 2008, I decided I needed help. It's a big step to take and from what I see after reading others posts who have had the surgery, it takes as much dedication as any other diet- the difference is it's a life change, not temporary. In my opinion you have to be MENTALLY prepared more then anything. Good luck!! -
April Bandsters?
MissChristina replied to hopeful41411's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! I don't know about you, but last time I checked, "obesity" is a health issue! Your insurance needs a dictionary  My surgery date is April 17th- I can't WAIT. I'm doing good on my pre-op diet, it was tough at first, now that the headaches are gone, I am confident I can keep up with it for the next 3.5 weeks. -
Hello all! I have been coming to this site for almost 4 months now and have gained alot of insight throughout my insurance process. I was approved by Aetna 2 weeks ago, and just met with my surgeon this past Thursday. He says I have to lose 20 pounds in the next 3 weeks. Since I gained weight during the insurance phase he wants to have me do pre-op for a total of 4 weeks. My surgery date is April 17th- so he'll meet with me the week prior (April 9th) to check on my progress and make sure I stuck to the pre-op plan, or else he says he'll move the surgery date up. I understand this is for my safety but ugh... It's soo tough! I have a severe headache and find that when I'm at work I don't think about food as much since I'm super busy, but at home now on the weekends is so tough. I'm told to have a protien shake for Breakfast, eat a piece of lean meat for lunch, and a protien shake for dinner. Is it ok if I eat other high protien foods? Like eggs? or cheese? Or should I just tough it out and do nothing but the shakes? Help.

3rd Day Pre-Op Diet
MissChristina replied to MissChristina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you, today was a little easier- the headache is still there. I have had some sugar free Jello as a snack, which made it easier, but have been sticking to the 2 shakes and high, lean Protein for lunch. I haven't stepped on a scale yet, I'm just hoping it's gone down at least a little! This weekend's been TOUGH! I appreciate your feedback... It prevented me from eating anything else. I am determined to have my surgery on April 17th, as scheduled, no matter what.
