I lost something very important today
LundyLane replied to MusicMan2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry, your post made me cry. I feel for you, I lost my golden retriever on June 10th, she had to be put down, was fine in the morning and later that day her trachea collapsed and we rushed her to the vet but there was nothing they could do. So sorry for your loss. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, Water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... -
I got my first fill today and the doctor said if your still hungry come back on Monday for another fill. My question is, what am I looking for, not being hungry? Or a feeling of tight after eating?? I just ate a whole 6oz can of tuna fish with mayo & relish and I'm not hungry but I don't feel any change from yesterday's feelings after eating. To be honest I still want to eat just because I'm bored.........so I'm trying to stop that and just eat when I'm hungry, which has been taking some real thought :tt1: I'm going to see if I can hold off until dinner, because yesterday I was getting REALLY hungry shortly after lunch. I am up in the air because I need to change my work schedule around on Monday if I think I need another fill.

My doctor doesn't have the liquid rule or any rule for that matter after a fill. I'm hoping Monday he will get me to a good point cause the 3cc last Wednesday did nothing and I swear I'm eating more I could munch on a cow and it would go down no problem

My concerns about telling people.
LundyLane replied to midwestchickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tell everyone as well! I figure if they see you losing weight and keeping it off then they are gonna talk anyhow because everyone knows that 99% of people who lose weight gain it right back with out some kind of help. Don't want to be another Star Jones that was a no brainer watching a fat all of your life woman go down to nothing and lie about it on national TV. -

Vegas, I LOVE YOUR POST! Needed to read it because I had my first fill on Wednesday and the doctor said come back on Monday if you are still hungry. I knew on Wednesday the 3cc fill had done nothing :huh2: but since I'm new to this I was thinking I wouldn't go back on Monday because I'm scared of what the change will be when I do "feel it", I was gonna wait until my next 2 week appointment. So you let me hear what I needed to hear  - I have an appoinment Monday to get filled again! Guess I should feel good that my Doctor doesn't mess around with giving you fills. THANKS AGAIN!!!!! :w00t:

They gave me one at the hospital and I wore it for 2 days at home but then it got hot and itchy so I took it off  I can't say it helped one way or the other. At my pre-opt they told me to ask for one at the hospital if they don't offer

One PAINLESS poke is all it took for me yesterday:thumbup: My doctor scared me because he said on the first fill we do it a little different, we put the needle in and then have you sit up and then fill the band when your drinking Water until you can not drink anymore. Let me say again IT WAS TOTALLY PAINLESS as he put the needle in and helped me sit up and then told me to start drinking water, as I drank water with the needle hanging out of my stomach (little weird) he pushed in the fill until my chest started to hurt (not bad, but you could fill it) and the water stopped going down, then he said let me know when you feel the pain go away and the water go down. After having a short panic attack thinking OH MY GOD THIS HURTS AND THERE IS NO WAY I CAN LEAVE THE OFFICE LIKE THIS………The pain quickly went away and the water went down. I ended up getting 3cc in a 10cc band. He told me that is the most they give at any fill appointment. He told me to come back Monday if I still feel hungry and if not come again in 2 weeks. TOTALLY PAINLESS NOT EVEN A PINCH FROM THE NEEDLE :Angel_anim:

Please help...very hungry, and 1st fill is 2 weeks away!
LundyLane replied to CorvetteFerrari's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If it helps at all, I could eat anything as of yesterday and the only way I was stopping myself was counting calories with www.thedailyplate.com and it was getting really hard staying under 1300 calories and I was starting to make bad choices for food. I got my first fill today (gained 2lbs in two weeks) and hoping this helps, but I just ate a whole can of tuna fish and fill the same as yesterday so I will hang in there and see if the hunger returns as fast. Good Luck and hang in there!! :tt1: -
Worst thing was waiting to get the band........:tt1: I got really scared up to the point of the day of surgery. After the surgery.......it takes a good 3 to 5 days to feel better. I would do it again in a heart beat! Got my first fill today and it did not hurt one little bit! :tt1:

Are Fills Painful?
LundyLane replied to greyhoundmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Average Calorie Intake Before 1st Fill
LundyLane replied to ChristineXtreme's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did gain 2 lbs but I got my first fill today which was totally painless :biggrin2: and I have been eating around 1200 to 1300 a day and that is stopping myself from eating more because I have been HUNGRY :tt1: I keep track on www.thedailyplate.com which I find is a great easy site to use and it's free. I hope my fill today will stop the hunger :tt1: I haven't ate anything yet so we will see -
My first fill, did your's happen the same way?
LundyLane replied to LundyLane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For real there was no pain at all, not even a pinch from the needle going in........Nothing.........Totally painless. -
Pre-op liquid diet = nausea???
LundyLane replied to AppleBottom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe lack of sugar, low sugar will can make you sick, about 3 or 4 days into the pre-op diet (mine was not a liquid diet but no sugar) I did not fill good and I got weak and broke down and ate a Snickers bar and I felt better......I don't think you should eat a Snickers but maybe call your doctor to see if you can do something else. -
Go ahead and post your million questions and you will get a million quick replies!! Congrats on soon to be banded!!!! :w00t:

Are you enjoying the ride??
LundyLane replied to slinkymalinky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like the others said, it's work but it's nice to know that this work is gonna payoff for a long time vs before when you work and lose it and then gain it all back plus more! I don't get my first fill until Wednesday, but I can say that it's been alot easier watching my calories now than before when I would watch them and be STARVING TO DEATH!!! :grouphug: I don't starve like that anymore, I get hungry but I don't starve. -
On average what is the time from start to finish?

Looking for someone with BMI of 35-39 that was approved
LundyLane replied to kfgates's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just at 35 BMI with High Blood Pressure and was approved no problems with United Health Care. Good Luck! -
I am a long time user (years) of Fitday.com (I own the computer copy of Fitday also) and never took the time to look at TheDailyPlate.com until yesterday. I have come to the conclusion that TheDailyPlate.com is much nicer and much easier to use!! Prints easy nice reports unlike FitDay. Just thought I would put that out there for all you FitDay.com users who are like me and don't like change and never checked it out .............you should check it out.
