Restriction but still very hungry...??
LundyLane replied to crazycatlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How about getting a little unfill and be more careful about what you eat. I just went today for a little tiny fill....but my doctor said I should not push it because I have been losing weight. I can eat what I want and having only have only got one thing stuck and that was a CUPCAKE that I never even chewed because I didn't feel good that day and walked in from work and tried to swallow it before I put my car keys down. I use www.thedailyplate.com every day and it really opens your eyes to the food you put in your mouth. I still eat junk from time to time and I can eat more than just 4 ozs. I can eat anything and everything.......I don't think I would like it if I could not eat. I did get that little tiny fill just because I had my mind set on it....HOPE I DIDN'T SCREW UP A GOOD THING! Good Luck to you! -
Protein/Caloric/Fat intake
LundyLane replied to Eeyore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein I was told to get at least 60 grams or half of your body weight in protein .......... no less than 60 grams. sugar free you should be...but I will be honest I'm not 100% Low fat is always a better choice. And as far as being afraid to go to the doctor because you fear you did not lose......GO NO MATTER WHAT.....that is one of the biggest things my doctor told me, if you stop going your not gonna get to the place you should be!! I know how you feel....I gained two pounds when I went in for my first fill. -
2 questions regarding fill and slippage??
LundyLane replied to ghannouge's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've had 4 fills and can still eat anything. My Doctor said I'm one of the lucky few that can eat and not get stuff stuck. I don't even chew that well. I had the same feeling as you.....did my band slip out of place.....is it not in the right place......did it fall off????? It took until my 3rd fill when I felt that it was there and I started understanding how it works. I can now eat a little and not be hungry. I think I'm going to go get another fill this week because I understand what I'm looking for now.....and I want to get to the place I want to be before my free time at the doctor is up (first 3 months after surgery is no cost for fills). I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy with my band.......I have had no problems and can eat anything but just get full fast. Good Luck with yours........I say go back and get another fill.....I have been going every 1 to 2 weeks.....SLOW AND EASY to get it just right! Good Luck -
How much was your first fill? Did you need more?
LundyLane replied to Harvest's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had 4 fills........slow and easy....I'm getting where I want to be with out anything bad :wink2: -
almost 3 weeks post op please help with 3 questions
LundyLane replied to tat2tim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's normal to not feel anything at your point......watch what you eat as in calories and make sure you go to all your scheduled appointments. Once you start getting fills things will change ..... but it takes time and the Band is only a TOOL it will not stop you from eating the wrong things. Ice Cream melts right down, Milkshakes slide right down, etc.......... -
Very little restriction???
LundyLane replied to bombaman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep that's right! I gained 2lbs even counting my calories and had the feeling this thing isn't doing crap!! Takes time.....hang in there:thumbup: -
What size and type of band? HELP! PLEASE!!! So nervous!
LundyLane replied to wiredshut's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My understanding is.....you don't pick the size, your doctor does. My doctor offered me the Lapband or the Realize band (I got the Lapband) but as far as the size....the doctor picked that....he told me I have a "small" that holds 10cc's Like you, I don't know what "small" means, the 10cc's part I understand....that is how much it holds for fills. I read about both bands and picked the Lapband because it's been around longer and the doctor said he reallly did not prefer one over the other. -
Well you should drink 64 oz a day (so my doctor says) but that's hard to do for anyone. But no....I don't worry about it. I just make sure I drink ALOT before I do yardwork or something I know will make me sweat, or by for a eat....you shouldn't drink when your eating (can't say I don't take a sip or two with my meals).

I'm not 4 months out....but I've had 3 fills and losing weight great at about 2 lbs a week. I can eat anything even bread.....couple of days ago I went to Applebee's and had the large Shrimp and Spinach salad and then a Blondie Brownie with ice cream  of course I don't eat like that everyday....but that day it was GOOD! I enter everything at www.thedailyplate.com even it's it junk food....and yes I do eat junk food from time to time, but I keep my calories around 1300 a day. If it wasn't for the band I would not be able to stick to the 1300 calories a day........LOVE MY BAND!
-
Your right....the band does nothing if you don't work with it! Before the band......I had trouble staying on the pre-opt diet. I was able to eatbut it was low calorie around 1000, after the band I don't have the trouble of staying in the calorie range that I want to, around 1300. I enter what I eat everyday at www.thedailyplate.com even if I eat JUNK ALL DAY ....I enter it. It makes you open your eyes to what your doing or not doing. The band is a TOOL and only a TOOL.....cause if you eat ice cream all day it's gonna put on the pounds. Don't get me wrong.....I just went to Applebee's two days ago and ate the entire Shrimp and Spinach Salad and then had a Blondie brownie with ice cream....... YEP I ate the WHOLE THING! I came home and entered it all at www.thedailyplate.com. I don't do it everyday....but I do eat junk from time to time. Went to the doctor today ..... and was told I'm doing GREAT :w00t: and lost almost 5lbs in just 2 weeks. As I told the doctor....I can eat ANYTHING and have never PBed or slimed. Good Luck to you in making it work!

Eating In the Real World
LundyLane replied to Alliekinz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep a box of Protein Bars in my desk in case I get hungry before or after lunch, I normally will only it 1/2 of a bar at a time. I most often take Smart Ones Weight Watchers frozen meal to have for lunch.......they are cheap to buy $1.76 at Walmart where I live and they taste good! -
How does one know if band is positioned incorrectly?
LundyLane replied to jbates's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The band is only a tool........does not stop you from eating the wrong things and it won't stop you from eating to much. It is a tool to help with the hunger. Are you eating when your really not hungry????? Even if you don't count your calories - try just entering what you eat in a journal or at www.thedailyplate.com (its free to use) it will make you more aware of what your doing and may slow you down. I enter my food every day at thedailyplate.com even if I over eat or eat junk all day. -

Losing weight, No PBing, Slime, or Stuck
LundyLane replied to LundyLane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am curious, I see your BMI is 35, how did you qualify for the surgery? Thanks for your reply! How did I qualify.......Well I hate to say it but it was easy. I was one pound shy of having a BMI of 35 and I started the process in Feb 08 so it was cold outside and I wore heavy clothes to my first doctor's appointment and made it to the 35 mark. I also had high blood pressure for about a year. It only took United Health Care 2.5 weeks to send the approval letter. I have heard that it has alot to do with your employer (I work for GE) as to if they will pay for it or not. I know someone who is a nurse at the hospital that I had my surgery and needs it way more than me because of health issues and having a BMI of 44 and the hospital has United Health Care as well but the hospital does not cover the surgery. I spoke to my Doctor about it and told him it did not seem right to be the hospital that promotes the surgery but yet won't pay for it for the people who work for them........he agreed and said they are trying to get them to change. -
I have never PBed or slimed as of YET..........I can eat what I want and LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I’m relatively new to the fills and the feelings with the band. I have 4.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I have been losing weight since my last fill a week ago and can eat ANYTHING with no problems. I watch my calorie intake with thedailyplate.com and keep around 1300 a day. I have been trying to walk at least 3 times a week and use free weights to tone my arms everyday with a 10 to 15 min arm workout. My question is, should I get another fill? I do get hungry but it’s nothing like it was pre-band and I control it with willpower. The band makes me eat slower and be aware of eating but I can still eat a entire McDonald’s chicken Bacon Ranch salad with no problems just slower than before. The only thing I “felt” was a Smart Ones Beans & Rice meal that kept me full for about 6 hours with no problems after eating the whole thing. So is there anyone else out there that feels the same as I do? When you read and talk to everyone that is banded, they all tell me I can only eat VERY little and it’s REALLY tight in the morning, etc. So I’m wondering is it possible to have it this good??????????? By the way……I still eat junk food here and there but not everyday. Should I leave a good thing alone until I stop losing weight or have a bit more put in at my next appointment? I guess I think I should be getting stuff stuck or PBing :tt2:

Today I got my first fill, quick and painless :tt1: My doctor scared me because he said on the first fill we do it a little different, we put the needle in and then have you sit up and then fill the band when your drinking Water until you can not drink anymore. Let me say again IT WAS TOTALLY PAINLESS as he put the needle in and helped me sit up and then told me to start drinking water, as I drank water with the needle hanging out of my stomach (little weird) he pushed in the fill until my chest started to hurt (not bad, but you could fill it) and the water stopped going down, then he said let me know when you feel the pain go away and the water go down. After having a short panic attack thinking OH MY GOD THIS HURTS AND THERE IS NO WAY I CAN LEAVE THE OFFICE LIKE THIS………The pain quickly went away and the water went down. I ended up getting 3cc in a 10cc band. He told me that is the most they give at any fill appointment. He told me to come back Monday if I still feel hungry and if not come again in 2 weeks. I like my doctor he doesn’t mess around with making you wait forever to get control of your hunger. He said he will get you to a good point by the end of 3 months out from surgery. I’m excited :tt1: and scared :scared2:at the thought I got 3cc after reading the stuff on the board about people getting 1cc and having trouble. It’s all in my head because I feel fine, sitting here drinking ice water. Anyone else get there first fill like me, sitting up and drinking water while the needle is still in your stomach?? Is it normal to get 3cc the first time??
-
My doctor said the max he will put in at any appoinment is 3cc, but if that doesn't do anything you can come back the next week for another fill. What's the most CC's you got at one time, is it in a 10cc or 4cc band? How long does your doctor make you wait until you can get another fill?

Is it possible to be at the sweet spot with just 1 fill ?
LundyLane replied to Doreen Dumelle-Kneller's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Friend of mine has never had a fill - banded May of 2007 and has lost 80lbs -
Why is it taking you so long to just get two fills??? I had mine done on May 28, 2008 and have already had two fills. I would say your still hungry because your not filled enough.....that's my guess.
