Good job with tracking! What do you do when you have the urge to binge or eat bad foods? I've been tracking my food as well it is going well but it gets hard when I really want something because of stress or situations that get under my skin.

It is hard. I have been careful not to bring junk in the house, so that helps. And I'm trying to find good substitutes for when I want something sweet (sweets are my downfall). I'm liking sugar free popsicles.
Confession: My son made Cookies all by himself today for all of us for dessert and I ate one, but only one! Which is amazing for me! They were Peanut Butter, my very favourite! First time having sugar in two weeks and I don't even crave more.

I've been working hard at tracking exactly what I eat and I've trying to eat lots of Protein and minimal carbs. My surgery is a week after yours. I'm supposed to lose 5% - so 13 lbs - and am down 8 in just two weeks! I want to make as many healthy changes pre-op as I can!
Good luck to you!!

I worry about this too.
Leading up to my two week diet, I've been strictly following a high-protein/low-carb diet and meticulously tracking my intake. I have to say that holding myself in check has been easier than I thought it would be, because I really don't have a choice. I have to follow the rules. I'm hoping the same will happen post surgery when bingeing simply isn't an option.

Nice to see several people who will be seeing Dr. Ortiz at the OCC! I'll be there in March and will look forward to reading about your experiences!

Newme17 and MelodySG we're all about the same size. My BMI is also 40. I'm 5' 7" though
I decided to go with the sleeve because it is less invasive and less chance of complications. My surgery is mid- March. I will keep an eye on how you guys are doing! It's nice to find people who are starting from a similar place.
Leading up to the pre-op diet, I'm on an low-carb, big Protein diet and have lost 8 lbs! So happy to be in the 240's this morning!

I have a nose/mouth mask because I can't breathe through my nose at all. You should be able to adjust the humidity levels and a heated tube really helps.

Thank you for posting this! I'm still awaiting surgery, but this is such a good reminder to remember to the real reasons why I am doing this!

Hi everyone! I'm having my lap band removed on 2/13, and for some odd reason, I'm really nervous. The surgery to put it in was the easiest surgery I've ever had, but with the removal, I'm scared to death. Has anyone else gone through the lap band removal before a VSG before? If so, please share your stories with me. My VSG surgery date is 3/16 and I'm super excited for that day and every single day afterward!!!
I'm on the 16th too! Where is your surgery?
I'm having mine at UCLA. How about you?

I'm struggling with this too. I literally just booked surgery today and am already trying to figure out whether I'll tell people or not. My husband and a couple friends are the only people I've mentioned it to so far and they are supportive. My kids will find out (you know, when I'm gone for 5 days and return not able eat food! lol) and kids aren't very good at keeping secrets, so maybe the easiest route is just to be an open book?

Reading this is so timely for me. I'm scheduled for surgery in a month but can't decided what to tell my kids. They are young - the oldest is 12, but old enough that they will notice me not eating lol. Some explanation will be needed! I guess the problem is that I feel ashamed that I need to do it, that I let things go so far....
