Does anyone know if I can take Excedrin migraine? I've had chronic migraines (more headache days than headache free days) and I've had one building up all day. Prior to surgery I had an ulcer so I wasn't able to take it (although I did anyway a few times) but I didn't get any that I couldn't handle.... This one is getting bad and I'm starting to lose vision in my right eye. Sometimes when they get this bad I've had to be hospitalized. I don't want to hurt my sleeve or risk bleeding but I can't afford to be hospitalized right now either. Help! What do I do? I should mention, I'm only two weeks out... That's what I'm thinking too. I haven't found anything else that helps. I think I've had them for 6.5 years now. I'll call the Dr tomorrow to see what they suggest. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone else afraid this is temporary?
shan84non replied to ryan_86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only a few weeks out from surgery, nowhere near my goal but I think that if you can go your whole life without ever eating any "bad foods" again... Good for you, but for me, I know I'll eat some bad things, but I won't let it take over my life. I enjoy food, I love cooking, I love trying new things and I did this to get healthier to live longer for my kids, but I won't be me if I don't have a small love affair with food. I will learn to be a food lover who is capable of eating in moderation. I will always monitor my diet, exercise and weight... And I'll make changes as needed but I don't plan on denying myself of certain foods forever. I've made a physical change to help myself make a lifestyle change. Severely Missing Food
shan84non replied to jro5360's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with you. I know it's mental and I know in no time I'll be able to eat with my family and friends but I feel so excluded lately. I'm 2 weeks out but did liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery so I haven't been eating for a month now and it's just wearing on me psychologically. I don't even have a craving for anything and I've felt full the whole time since surgery... Can barely get anything down because I'm always full... Dr says I have a lot of swelling so that's why. I just miss the social aspect.... And people at work are always making comments about me not eating which makes me feel worse about it. My coworkers are huge foodies and usually order food everyday and have big lunches and they've always got donuts our some baked goods someone made and brought in. I was worried all that temptation would kill me but honestly,i don't want any of that.... It's amazing. At home it's a little easier... My kids don't fully understand although they've been as supportive as possible at ages 7 and 9. Sorry, just kind of rambling but it's been a rough day and I don't have anyone to talk to who understands. The other thing is comments from my friends and coworkers basically saying I can never eat certain things again. I will physically be able to eat most anything in small amounts, I probably won't eat anything like I used to, but why is that a bad thing?! That's what got me into this situation in the first place. I'm new to these forums, found it in my search for answers on how to cope this first week post op. I had the sleeve done Monday (1/23/17) and was discharged yesterday. My problem is that I received a lot of conflicting information in the hospital. Some said Protein first, must get 60 grams a day at least. Others said Water is #1- even if you can't get all your protein, make sure you get 6-8 cups of water. My surgeons nurse told me to listen to my body and stop when I feel full... The problem is that I've felt full the whole time... My mouth gets dry but even 1 sip of anything makes me feel overly full to the point I almost throw up. In the past 2.5 days I've had about 8 oz of water 3 oz of a Protein shake and 1/2 of a sugar free popsicle. I don't know what to do... Maybe it's just that the swelling needs to go down? I don't want to have too much and cause a leak but I also don't want to dehydrate and need to be readmitted. How did you do it and does it get easier? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My recovery has been horrible
shan84non replied to Brianajubert's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on the 23rd also. It may be that the juice was too sugary. I tried apple juice and had the same issue so now I've just been drinking Water and tea. I bought unflavored Protein powder to mix into things because all the Protein shakes were too sweet for me. I did liquids for 2 weeks before surgery so after almost a month of thick, creamy sweet stuff I thought I would die! I'm on pureed food with limited soft foods now. Nutritionist said I can have scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, fish, tuna, stuff like that... As long as it can be easily mashed with a fork and chewed really well. So far, I think the liquids definitely sit better but luckily nothing can come back up yet. I think maybe calling the Dr and explaining that might be a good idea. You shouldn't be puking up everything. I think so far the part I'm struggling with is that I don't ever feel hungry. So I have to keep track and even set a timer or else I don't think I'd get in any calories. Even when I do "eat" outs such a small amount I feel like I'm not getting enough protein (and I'm not) but I'm doing the best I can... There's just no room in my tummy. Anyway, hang in there. I do think it'll get easier. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
How do you fight the hunger at night? I'm only a week out so maybe it gets easier but I've found myself being awake half the night with intense pain in my stomach from hunger... I try to ignore it but it's just keeping me awake. Do I really need to plan to wake up in the middle of the night to have a bit of a Protein shake? I'm so exhausted, I just want to sleep through the night! I've read a lot of posts about people second guessing their decision in the first few weeks post op and I'm definitely right there... I am so miserable. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

He prescribed me prilosec but I can't take it... I've thrown up from trying to take the crushed pills. I wonder if the meds can be given to me in a liquid form. I'll have to check. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm trying yo get as much Fluid as possible but honestly, I've only been able to stay awake for an hour or so at a time. Today I've been so cold and noticed I have a slight fever. Went up to 100.8 earlier but down to 99.4 now. Also just the sharpest pain in my rib cage if I try to take a deep breath so I just have to take shallow breaths. That pain flares up with every sip I have too. Not sure it could be gas because I've had no problem passing gas. Oh and diarrhea all day-to-day just bile- probably 10 times. Sorry if that's tmi. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had my sleeve done 1/23. I'm amazed at how much pain I'm still in and how hard it is to drink anything. I have felt disgustingly full since the surgery but can't even seem to drink Water. My heaviest was 269, started at 263, pre op was 247 and at 3 days out I'm 244. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How did you get through pre-op liquid diet?
shan84non replied to CocoNina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Honestly, I'm not sure if my motivation was the healthiest but it worked for me... I stepped on the scale every morning and that motivated me to keep going. I cheated twice and on those days I either didn't lose anything or gained a pound or two. It made me feel awful and was easy to stick to the diet after seeing the results. I lost 15 lbs during the two weeks. Plus I got really excited about fitting into some of the clothes that didn't used to fit me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
