Hey all! Everyone is doing awesome! I am now down to 208. I hit my first plateau and it was painful but not as painful as it was in the past (before surgery). It sure is nice to see the scale moving again. Thanks for posting! -

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
kpsc1030 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wonderful! NSV's are the best! Fitting back into clothes always puts me in a good mood. Does anyone else feel like for the first time in years our bodies are normal again? Maybe it is because our body chemistry has changed; I finally feel like finally my body is my friend and not my foe. :w00t: -

Hey all...just got back from my second fill. I now have a total of 3.75cc's in my band. He said I should be alot more restricted...and I hope I am not too restricted. Some days I have trouble getting food down. So anyway hopefully this fill will help me bust through the 200lb barrier. It sure has been a long time since I have seen good old onederland! Hope everyone is doing good this week...hang tough! -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
kpsc1030 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly, I usually drink a glass of water first thing in the morning followed by a protein shake or if I have time I will make eggs with some shredded cheese. Lunch is usually tuna, turkey or roastbeef and 1/4 of an apple. For dinner I usually have chicken, steak or fish with a serving of green beans or a small salad. No carbs meaning no starchy carbs...Potatoes, bread, corn etc. But like I said one day a week I allow myself to have those things just not in excess...I like to call this day "free day", it gives me something to look forward to. Also, if I am particularly hungry one day I might throw in a couple cheese sticks. It definitely hasn't been easy but I sure am not starving! Thanks to me ol' band. Once 75 percent of the weight is off then I can start incorporating the starchy carbs back in. The carbs I believe from what I remember are used to help maintain your final weight. More carbs= lose less...Less carbs=lose more. This diet sure isn't breath friendly either:eek:...but if I have bad breath then I know I am doing what I should be doing. My kids sure don't like it though...Mom you stink! I chew alot of sugar free gum so I can still get kisses! I go for my second fill tomorrow and boy do I sure need it...have been losing the same two lbs for a couple of weeks. -

That is what my Dr and nutritionists have suggested. No carbs until I lose 75 percent of the weight. I have slowly added back in vegetables and fruit. Their point is that you need to try to lose as much weight as possible in the first year. I am a carb addict too and it was hard for awhile but now I breeze right through it. Although, my little secret is that one day a week I do eat something I really want as long as the band allows me too. So far it has worked for me...just don't tell my Dr! It sure gives me something to look forward to as well. Good Luck...I know it is not easy! -

New notorious novembers weightloss spreadsheet
kpsc1030 replied to sistasassy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have faith! I have only lost 5 lbs this last month. I seemed really tight for the first couple of months, sometimes water would not go down. I have not weighed out my portions(slapping wrist) but I have not been able to eat that much. Some days are worse than others for whatever reason. My weightloss really slowed when I started exercising too. Now lately I have been able to consume way too much. Time for my second fill...I hope this does the trick. I am down to 215.8. Officially 50lbs lost. But this weight is what I was for years...so I am expecting a battle to get past here. I am constantly surprised that I have been able to lose weight consistently without feeling deprived. I bet you will see a difference with your fill. -

Hey all Notorious Novembers! I sure am loving my band! I go tomorrow for my first fill and nutritional seminar. I feel like the band is the best thing that ever happened to me. For the first time losing weight seems natural. I am not starving to death and I don't need to exercise like crazy. I do feel my port quite a bit too. Especially when getting up from a sitting position it is a little uncomfortable. But I am able to sleep on my stomach and that makes me so happy!!! Glad to hear everyone is doing so good too. 2009 sure is going to be a different year for all of us! Kp:tongue2: -

Feel Bloated...Having Trouble w/ Getting in all the Protein...
kpsc1030 replied to Mamacita2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am having the same problem, I am guessing it is normal. I had surgery on the 18th and the bloating is getting better and the shoulder pain is going away which is a plus. I am definitely struggling to get in the protein and the water. I try to focus more on the water right now because I don't want to get dehydrated. Maybe someone on here will have an idea on how to get the protein in. I am not hungry at all which makes it more difficult. Hopefully with time this will work itself out. Are you on mushies yet? Kp -
Uncomfortable feeling in chest
kpsc1030 replied to 9pdmnm5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys, I had surgery on the 18th. I too am experencing the same tightness and fullness in my chest. Everytime I take a deep breath in my left shoulder hurts. I just keep walking and taking as many deep breaths as I can. I am taking oxycodone for pain and it does help with that sensation. I am down to one pill a day now and hopefully I can be off of that by Monday. I just started pureed foods today and I am amazed at how 3 tbs fills me up. Still wondering how I am going to get 60g of Protein in my diet a day with eating so little. If anyone has an idea of how to do that please let me know! KP -

pre-surgery random thoughts
kpsc1030 replied to imwiththebandfl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am scheduled for the 18th and I am right there with you. I have had a ton of surgeries but this is my first elective and boy are the emotions different. I will be so happy when I wake up in the recovery room I am sure to be smiling. Good luck to you! Can't wait to hear how you do. We will be on the other side soon! KP -
I too am scheduled for surgery on the 18th. I was also due for my period on that day and ended up starting on the 10th. Don't be surprised if it comes early...it must have to do with the fasting. Which really is a relief for me I wasn't happy that I would have to deal with that right after surgery. Things have a way of working out! LOL! I am on two protein shakes, plus 2 servings each of sf jello, popsicles, and broth. Then I can have a 4oz protein and 1/2 c. veggies for dinner. I have followed that diet to a tee. Definitely the first 3 days were killer. Now I keep thinking why in the hell couldn't I do this before? I feel so much better now! Anyway hang in there...I am right on the same timeline as you. Keep your eye on the prize! I get up and walk for 30 minutes every morning and I am having no problem sleeping at night....I practically pass out. Good luck with you surgery! Mine is scheduled for 1:30...I can't wait to be on the other side finally! KP

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
kpsc1030 replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Question for those on the pre-op diet...anyone notice really greasy hair and skin? I have never had this problem until I started this diet. I have always had normal skin. Not sure what would be causing it since I am hardly eating anything. Maybe the vitamin supplements? TIA KP -
okay I have exactly 7days b4 surgery and not doing well....
kpsc1030 replied to nikki_b335's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the pre-op diet as well although I feel pretty lucky because it is not solely liquid. I have been a real "B" to everyone around me the past couple of days. I have cheated a couple times in the first 2 days but I did it with sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles. Now that I am on day 4 I don't feel the need anymore. The few first day are terribly hard but you do get to a point when you are not hungry. I honestly don't know what hunger is anymore. All these years I thought I was so hungry and now I realize that I wasn't. This has been a real eye opener. Just suffer through it...we are in the same situation. It does get easier! I have found that cooking helps pass the time for me...it is a strange feeling now to cook and know I don't get to eat it. I feel empowered! Try to find something to pass the time...it will help! Good Luck!~ KP -

Hi and congrats all November bandsters! I am scheduled for Nov 18th at Silver Cross hospital in Joliet, IL. I go to the 3 hour class on Oct 20th. I am nervous and excited too. Hopefully it will be a smooth process...the closer it gets the more anxious I am. I know it is not going to be easy but look forward to the journey!
