My journey started in December 2016. I have had a Upper GI, ECHO, EKG, pulmonary function, Arterial Blood Gas test, chest x-ray, hiatal scan for gallbladder.. I have meet every requirement. My BMI when I started in December was 39.9. I Have seen the pre-op doctor and he said everything looked good. My date is set for July 18, 2017. My liquid diet will start on July 4th. I have saved my money, paid the doctor office for his part, paid the hospital for their part. I am ready to go... NOT... The lady at the Doctors office called me today (June 30th) and said I did not have 2 consecutive years of my BMI being over 35. NO ONE HAS TOLD ME I HAD TO HAVE A BMI OVER 35 FOR 2 CONSECUTIVE YEARS. MY BMI in 2014 was above 35, can't find any records in 2015 ( Diet pill year) that it was over 35 and we have records in 2016 that it was over 35.. She told me today my insurance will not approve unless it is 2 consecutive years.. I think this is something they should have told me upfront BEFORE I went through all the test, spent a lot of money and the anxious waiting.. I am so angry with the clinic right now that I am beside myself. This has ruined my 4th of July weekend. UGHHHH!

I am 5 days post op now and still on clear liquids. Can't stand anything but sf popsicles and decaf un sweet tea. I am managing to get 30 grams of protein in with my jello a day but wondering about going ahead and starting full liquids so I can get my protein in with premier protein

I had mine on 7/18/17 as well. How are you doing?

Today I am 4 days post op and when I drink cold liquid I get an air bubble or air pocket. I guess that's what it is. After it goes on down then the feeling goes away. I'm having trouble getting my protein down.

I am on the pre-op diet of clear liquids for the next 7 days.. Sleeve surgery scheduled for July 18th...But I am having problems with my medications making me sick to my stomach because I am not eating with them.. Any suggestions?

My gallbladder was diagnosed as non-working. I need it out, but think my insurance is going to deny my sleeve surgery. Thinking plan b will be to have both done in Mexico. Just now looking at options.

Would like to talk to someone about sleeve surgery in Mexico.

What clinic and doctor did you use? I live in Mississippi and flying into San Antonio would be so much closer for me.

Did you go to this doctor and clinic?? I would really like to talk to real people that have been to Mexico because I am seriously thinking about this but not sure how to go about it.

Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere. But... Will I need to buy a food scale or just measure in a measuring cup. The nutrition class said I would not be eating more than 1/2 cup at a meal.

SO glad things went well for you. Did you follow the 2 week liquid diet? 1 week full liquid and 1 week clear liquid?? I start the liquid diet on Tuesday , July 4th, ugh! Please keep me posted on your recovery. I am so glad to find someone with the same Doctor. I will follow your journey and progress and learn from someone that has been through what I am going to go through soon. Best of luck on this remarkable journey.

First of all, thank you Sherrie. I thought BariatricPal was to guide one another and help one another in this new journey. I am new to this BariatricPal site, but thought it could help me navigate through the treacherous waters of a beginner. Yes, I will ask my nutritionist when I go back to see her in 2 weeks. But the question came to mind, so I ask anyway. Just wanted to know NOW. Thanks the all input

I have a non-working gallbladder and hiatal hernia that the DR will repair or take out when I have the sleeve done. I am so ready to feel good again.. This has been a long 8 month journey.

I am from Mississippi and my surgery date has been changed to July 18.. Its getting REAL...

I am supposed to go Thursday for my final weigh-in and my nut class. I was supposed to have lost 10 lbs. by then and I have not.. I have only lost 6 lbs. and am so scared they are going to postpone my July 19th surgery. I know when I start the 2 week pre-op liquid diet that I will lose the rest but I am afraid they will post pone because I have not lost the 10.
