Can't seem to find a good protein drink
CarolWA replied to Thunder629's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ordered a sample pack of the nectar by Syntax. I couldn't stand any of the flavors. Was sorry I wasted my money. -
I'm with you. I too, ordered the sample pack. Couldn't stand any of them.

Does anyone have an issue with port placement??
CarolWA replied to CarolWA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats where I kinda thought it would be. Away from the waist and the bra line. The incision is below the ribs, but the port is about 2 inches lower. -

Banded June 7th; Uncomfortable and Evil
CarolWA replied to Finetnredbone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Take it easy. You've just had surgery. Healing takes time and there isn't anything you can do about that. Give yourself the time to heal. There are several months of summer left, and I'm sure there will be more parties to attend, but for now, slow down and HEAL. My surgery was on the 1st of June. I'm just now feeling normal again, and actually feeling pretty good. It doesn't take too much time, but it does take some. I don't know anyone that got to eat within the first week of surgery. What are you eating? Most people are on liquids for at least a week. My surgeon demands 4 weeks of liquid after surgery. Please do whatever your surgeon asks of you. Carol -
4th of July Challenge!
CarolWA replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting to my goal, slowly but surely. 2 pounds this week. -
Easiest surgery I've ever had. Feeling great. Very little pain. More itching than pain. Ate a sf popcicle and was full, and still full 3 hours later. This is great. What a wonderful tool this is.

New with tons of questions/concerns
CarolWA replied to overweightny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've only been banded a week, so there isn't a lot I can tell you. The surgery isn't that painful, I'm a little tired of a liquid diet, but I'll get through it. I really hope at your age and weight, that you do something soon, before problems start. And believe me, They will!! I wish I would have had this opportunity when I was your age. I have several health problems now because of the weight. But, I am hopeing that weight loss will help and I'm pretty sure it will. I love food, but I like living too. And I hope to do it a little longer with a healthier body. That's pretty much what you have to think of, weather you love food so much that you will risk the health problems. A lot of people on this site can still eat a lot of different foods, lots can still eat anything. The main thing is, they have to eat a lot less of it. Good luck with your decision. I know I made the right one. Carol -
Had my 1 week check up since my surgery on June 1st. All is great. Only took pain meds for about 3 days. Never had any gas pains, thank god! I'm so sorry for those of you that had to go through the gas and shoulder pains. Doc says a have a very very small fill in the band already, and I'm to go back the 28th for a regular fill. Bad news, liquids until then. Not even mushies, I was hopeing that I could at least do mushies after another week or so. But I'll survive. I will also do as he says. I always have and it's worked out real good so far. How are other junebugs doing so far. Hope all is going well. Carol

HappyMom is absolutely right. It takes about 4 days and you will be fine. We all did it and we're still here. Mine was 3 protein drinks, sf Jello and sf popsicles and clear strained soup. Love the pops, they got me though it. Lots of water helps. But you'll do it, I just know you will. Think farther down the road, you'll do fine Carol

Mmmm... PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter
CarolWA replied to iwokeupfat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
what flavor protein drink do you put it in? I'm looking for things that give the protein drinks a little better taste. -
Ok, third time's the charm, Right? I was scheduled the first time for surgery on May 6th. Postponed. Second time was May 27th. My blood was too thin, postponed. Tomorrow is the third time. I've got my fingers crossed. I've been on a liquid diet so long now, I've forgotten what food taste like. I have to do another liquid diet for 4 weeks after surgery. At least I'm getting a real good start at weight loss. Wish me luck!

I'm on coumadin. I stopped for 4 days, like the doc said, but I guess it should have been longer. I had the IV started and all ready to go in last Thursday, I sure hope it will work out tomorrow.

What is your goal weight for your height?
CarolWA replied to gingerjane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also 5' 10" and shooting for 175. Spent my young adult life at 150 but I don't see that happening again. I can't wait to see what 200 feels like. It's been a long time. -
My surgery was postponed. This is the second postponement. I'm so dissappointed. I take comadin and my blood was still too thin. They will try again on Tuesday.

Finallly!! I had to do a year with a dietition, so many test, I thought it would never end. Colonoscopy twice, cause the first one didn't work out, lungs, heart, phyc. blood tests. Had a mammo, ultra sounds, nutrition classes. But, it finally got here. I've never had to go thru so many test for any surgery I've ever had. And I've had quite a few. I THINK I AM READY!!! With every thing I went thru, I'm so glad it's here, that I'm not even nervous. My next post will be on the post op board.:smile2: Carol

What type of band and why?
CarolWA replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor says I have no choice. He doesn't know which one he will use until he is in there. Not sure what his reasoning is. -
so when does vomiting become "excessive" ?
CarolWA replied to kels764's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It probably depends on the doctor and a lot of factors. My surgeon has banded between 14 to 70 years old. -
I took Toradol a couple years ago, never had any problems with it.

Renee, My post to you was right under your post. Please re read my others. They are meant for another persons post. They suspended that person's account, so you are not able to see her post. She was rambling on about how we should just eat right and do it her way. I'm sorry that you thought I was replying to you. Carol
-
Oh, I see her account has been suspended. GOOD!!

I was replying to "The Bite Count Diet" Where did her post go??!!

" It is the same results; the only difference is instead of forced portion control..., you are able to control the amount you consume (as if you had the surgery) and feel full (train your stomach to get satisfied with small portion" Don't you think if we could do that, we also wouldn't have the surgery. People on this site, put a lot of thought into this decision. It isn't something we take lightly. I'm happy for you if you've found a way to keep the weight off, however, many of us have tried that road many many times, and it didn't work for us. I'm a little offended that you are here preaching to us, because you found a way that worked for you. I'm sure WW and Jenny Craig and all the other weight plans out there have done wonders for many people. If they had worked for us we wouldn't be here. Like I said, if anything else worked for us, we wouldn't have made this decision.
