Oh, I had a real easy time after surgery. No gas pain at all. I litte sore at the port site but nothing some pain meds couldn't handle. I was up and around real good by the 4th day. I hear a lot of different stories on here. I asked my doc about not haveing any gas pains, he said he's done this so many years that he's real good at getting all the gas out. I hope you have an easy time. Carol

Hi Ali, I'm still getting used to this band. My mind wants more food, but my tummy says "What? Are you nuts???" I end up taking another bite then I pay for it. It comes right back up. It's not the band, I think I have perfect restriction now, It's me, I just want to eat more because it taste good. LOL. But I'm getting it down. I know exactly when to stop, I can feel it, but, well, you get the idea. I am not sorry I did this at all. Best decision of my life. I'm on vacation right now and it's driving me crazy not being able to weigh. I haven't weighed for almost a week. Last weight was 234. I can't believe how fast it's coming off. I am feeling so good, knees quit hurting all the time. Can walk around and have a nice vacation. Let's keep in touch. I'd love to hear how you do. Carol

Patient Ratings for Dr. Myur S Srikanth, MD - General Surgery - Federal Way, WA

I think he used to be in the same office as Dr. Oh, which was my doctor. I hear he's very good. Haven't heard anything bad about him.

So I went for a checkup and maybe a fill on Thursday. I had lost 8.5 pounds in the 4 weeks since I had last been there. To me, that was fine. I was staying full, eating what I'm suppose to, although, I thought a cup of food at a time was good. Dr. says, I'm eating way too much. I should only be eating 1/4 cup at one sitting. Like I said, I was happy with the 8.5 pound weight loss. They gave me another 1/2 cc in my 10 cc band. I now have 4.1 cc's total in my band. Well, now I'm eating that 1/4 cup, but I've lost 8 pounds since Thursday morning. So what do you guys think?? Was I eating too much??? example protein in the morn cheese stick snack cup of chili at lunch fruit for snack salad for dinner protein at bedtime

Went and got a little unfill today. Feeling much better. Thanks for the advice guys.

Thanks for the imput. Not sure what I'm going to do. Right now I can't keep too much down. I think half the time the 1/4 cup is too much. Lots of vomiting, which I didn't do before. This is Sunday, if the vomiting keeps up, I'll call him and see if he will unfill that 1/2 cc. I'm betting he won't, but you never know.

Never had a problem with them. Can't stand the chalky chewables.

I use the ones from Walmart. Taste like candy to me. Never

I was stuck at 250 to 255 for almost 2 weeks. Finally broke the plateau. It was so discouraging. Before the band, this is where I would start stuffing my face and giving up. I stuck it out, did and ate what I'm suppose to, and it finally happened. Goodbye 250's Hello 240"s.

Weight loss and your Cpap
CarolWA replied to dman3998's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stopped using mine when I lost about 40 pounds. Haven't noticed any symptoms returning. Good luck to you. You and I started with the same BMI. Hope you can give that machine up soon. -
I quit using my magic bullet. I found it didn't crush the ice in my protein shake very well. Do you guys use ice in it, and if so, does it work for you? I'm now using a regular blender and it's working well. I do travel quite a bit and wanted to use the bullet, not sure what I'll use now. The blender is a little big to take on trips.

How much support is your spouse giving you?
CarolWA replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, makes you wonder how long you will stick it out. Keep in mind, men don't change. Don't waste 20 years and then regret it later. You sound way too good for him. -
Will this really work for???
CarolWA replied to zeniada's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes it does work. If it will work for you, will be up to you. The band is a tool. It is not the easy way out. And it will not do the work for you. If you are committed to losing the weight and realize that you do have to follow the rules, it will work. I was very determined to get healthier, and I followed all the rules and did everything that the Dr said to do. I am amazed at how well it is working. I could always lost 30 to 40 pounds easily, but I could never keep it off. I would get bored with any diet I was on, and start thinking I could eat normally and be fine. It never worked. Plus I always gained back an extra 10 or 15. This is a great tool and I wish you luck with your journey. -
Hello, I'm new and just starting out
CarolWA replied to barbs47's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The pre op is a little difficult for everyone. But after about 4 days, you will be amazed that it isn't as difficult as you thought it would be. Your body really does adjust. I'm betting you can do it. I had to do almost a month of liquids because I had to postpone my surgery and I wanted the Dr to let me know if there was a canecllation, so I had to keep up with the liquids. Please don't stress too much about that pre op, we all got through it, and like I said, after 4 days, it's not that bad. Good luck on your journey. -
Good luck to you Steggegirl. I was like you, always thought it was just a bad picture. The bad thing was everyone would say "oh you don't really look like that", well I did really look like that, and it was time to stop kidding myself. This is the best decision I've ever made. I already feel soooo much better. Good luck to every one that decided this is the anwer.

Thanks for all the great advice. I can get liquids down, so I'll wait it out a few days and see how it goes.

My first fill was on June 28th. I was due for a 2nd fill on Aug 1st, but since my Doctor is 150 miles away and I was in his area, I had a fill today. First fill was 2.6cc and this one is 1cc. I have a 10cc band. I was losing steadily but I was having a lot of times when I could eat anything and any amount. I was falling back into some really bad habits. (raiding the kitchen sound familiar) Right now, I'm trying to get my supplements down, but having a really hard time. The tiny bit of salad I ate came right back up. I'm working real hard at keeping my pills and water down. So, did I get a fill too soon?? Maybe its just a matter of letting things settle down?? Any ideas?

I need a link to the Labor Day Challenge
CarolWA replied to CarolWA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Leigha -
Does anyone have it?

I did have one time release capsule that I took before being banded. Dr said I couldn't take it anymore. Instead of 180mg in time release once a day, I have to take 1 60mg 3 times a day. I cut it in half and it hasn't been a problem. I also take 2 small capsules with no problem and a huge caplet (osteo bi flex) that I cut up in small pieces for joint pain.
-
Did you ask the dr if it came in a liquid? So many of them do.
-
I remember feeling that way. I was banded on June 1st. Not that long ago. I can not tell you how much better I feel now. It's only been 6 weeks, but the difference is incredible. I have knees and ankles and bones where I don't remember having bones, like my wrists. With the pre op and the lapband, I am down 50 pounds. Without the band, I know I would be eating my way back to 311 pounds by now. Believe me, if you're a yo yo dieter, you've made the right decision. You won't think so until about a week after surgery. But you did. Good luck on your journey! Carol

How many of you had insurance cover your Lap Band?
CarolWA replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Regence/Blue Cross. I was approved within 3 weeks with no problem. I think they figured they couldn't lose with what they were spending on all my other problems. Half from being overweight. LOL
