I’m about 3 weeks post op. Every time I eat I puking it up with 5-10 mins. No matter what it is, how slow I eat, or how little bites I take I always throw it up! Seen my doc a couple times, got sent to hospital for fluids. Other then that they want to wait and see what happens. I’m suppose to be on soft foods but can’t even keep down the puréed. I’ve tried but it’s the same result. Doc mentioned a few things they might to but again they want to wait and see if it’s just swollen in there or is something is closing or whatever. I’ve tried everything they have suggested but no luck. Please someone tell me this isn’t my new normal! Spending more time in the bathroom then with my kids. Has anyone had this? Did your doc do something to help?

Good luck! Please keep me updated. I have my 3rd week check up tomorrow and I hope they are ready to fix this!
-
Oh geez I hope this doesn’t continue for 2 months!! Did they do anything to help you?
-
Thanks. I have my class tomorrow so I’m going to have to try and see my doc. This is awful!

I’m having really bad anxiety about the surgery. I keep overthinking everything from wether or not to do the surgery down to do I pack certain items or not. I’m 28 years old with two young kids and I’m worried about them and trying to recover with them. What if something bad happens during surgery.. kinda freaking out today! Is this normal??

Thanks guys for the reassurance! I appreciate all the kind words! I’m a little calmer but I’m sure I won’t sleep much tonight! -
Mine is on the 27th. I started my optifast shakes last week and continue on them until surgery. It's hard. I have cheated and had a couple bites of chicken and broccoli twice because my body felt drained and I had no energy. It seemed to help. Hopefully won't hurt me any. What are you guys planning on doing after surgery for meals after all liquids are over? Puréed anything sounds awful. They said try to get in all my proteins with food before supplementing shakes but a blended chicken breast sounds disgusting!! Good luck guys!

Surgery next Tuesday

Good luck!! Mine is on the 27th. I was also wondering what to bring. My paperwork didn't say anything about the cell phone being to close to the bed but it did say to make sure someone had them while we were in surgery so they weren't "missed placed" or lost. -
September Bypass Buddies
shellyb1827 replied to Bariatric_girlie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just started my classes last week, they want to "fast track" me, so my date is now September 27th. All in one week, I have a closer date then I thought, had to get a endoscopy yesterday and now I am getting a roux en y instead of a sleeve.... my head is spinning and getting overwhelmed! Excited and grateful because this has been over a year of waiting but now it's starting to feel real! -
Hey do either of you guys no of a shake that can replace optifast. I have to loose a good amount of weight before they will schedule my surgery and I can't afford optifast, which they recommended 2-4weeks of or how ever long it take me to loose this weight. I know I need a VERY LOW CALORIE meal replacement shake. I prefer to buy it at a store and not online but everything I've looked at have higher calories and carbs. I don't know what the right amount of protein I need verses calories and carbs. I start my classes in a week or so but want to get started now to get a jump start.

So I finally got approved for my surgery after 8 months of waiting. And I already had my 6 months of supervised weight loss done when I started going to the Bariatric center. I was on phentermine for almost 7 months when I went to my first seminar. So I was at my lowest weight when attending around 260 ish. They took my weight, did the seminar. The next couple months I did all my other requirements but stopped taking the phentermine. So I gain most of the weight back that I lost. Now that I finally got approved I was told I have to loose a min of 20 lbs from my seminar weight.. which mind you I have gain a good 20 lbs back on since that weight. So I explain that and I still have to loose the same weight 40 lbs in total min. I start my four week classes in less then a month and depending on my weight I will schedule my surgery. So she suggested to do 4 weeks optifast and I agreed it was best until I heard the cost!!!! There isn't a way I can make that work financially. So my question is has anyone tried anything else similar to optifast that is cheaper but works in the same way. Mind you have already on a low cal diet and exercise. My doctor won't put me back on the phentermine because I already can't sleep well and that stuff made me feel like I was going to stroke out. Please help and let me know what worked for you!! Thanks guy!

So I have another question. I have been looking into very low calorie meal replacement shakes.. I bought a couple waiting for them to come in the mail.. but now I'm thinking the calories are to high for what I need. What should the calories, carbs, proteins be? Everything is so different I don't no what to get.

Okay will do, thanks for all the info!

Thanks, I've never thought to ask anyone for their leftovers. I don't think I've talked to anyone that loves near me yet, but I'll give it a shot! I hear optislim tastes horrible, is it really that bad? I just heard about unjury but I haven't done much research on that one yet.

Well it was suppose to only be 15 lbs, it was their requirement before surgery. but since I've gained since then I have to loose almost 40 now!

Phentermine and VSG
shellyb1827 replied to ChubbyMermaid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took phentermine for my 6 month medically monitored requirement. The first couple months I lost some weight, maybe 15 lbs or so. After that your body gets used to it and I didn't loose much more, maybe a couple lbs a month till the end of my 6 month. But the side effects were awful, made me feel like I was on speed and my heart was always racing. I took it as soon as I woke up and by bed time I was still felt like I was running a mile a minute. I couldn't sleep at all, and I already had issues with sleeping before taking it but it was so much worse. I felt like I was going to stroke out. It caused me to get dangerously high blood pressure. My anxiety was intense. If you can afford optifast I urge you to do that before taking this pills. I simply couldn't afford optifast so my doc recommended the pills. Wasn't a miracle pill. But at the beginning it did stop the hunger feeling.
