    so whos working out?

Sooo question. This may sound silly, but when is it okay to start doing some serious ab workouts? I go to the gym every night but have been very timid to start the Ab classes.

    Introducing....Me!

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone after a few months being the shy girl (LURKER!) I am so amazed with everyone's willingness to listen, tell their own experiences, and support each other. I think it's incredible and I can't tell you what a difference it's made during my own journey so far! I was banded on 12/20-doing great so far and down 24 lbs (including the 2 week pre-surgery diet of course.) So Hi everyone! I look forward to chatting with you all. -Smiles

No fill yet for me...6 weeks and only if I'm not still losing weight. Sounds like a challenge to me..obviously Dr. doesn't know who he's dealing with. LOL

    Protein.. Suggestions needed

I add unflavored protein powder (from GNC) to almost everything: cottage cheese, eggs before I soft scramble, refried beans, soup, mashed potatoes, chicken salad, tuna salad, EVERYTHING. 22 grams a scoop and I can't even tell it's there -smiles

post op diet - week 2

Hi! I just finished this phase! Here's what I lived on: Dannon Light and Fit vanilla Yogurt (added vanilla Protein Powder to it.) Campbell's Soup at Hand: Creamy Tomato, Cream of chicken, and Velvety Potato (I added unflavored Protein powder to these as well-never tasted it!) These are a great portion too-I could only eat half at each meal, so saved the other half for the next meal. Protein Shakes (I started with Boost, but it's so yuck I went to GNC and bought vanilla flavored protein powder and mixed with skim milk.) Carnation Instant Breakfast (low carb variety) Propel Fitness Water (kept me from being so hungry, and it's sweet so felt like a treat!) Jello sugar free instant pudding (only as a once in a while treat-because I have no self control, ha ha!) By the way, I also added the vanilla protein powder to this. Good luck-it's a boring phase, but hang in there, let yourself heal. You'll notice that I added protein powder to everything-my dietician says this is sooo important, so get your protein with the powder if you can-you can mix it into anything! It'll be over soon and on to MUSHIES!!!
  8. Thank you so much for the reminder!! I was banded 12/20 and am starting to get a little pouty because I'm hungry all of the time and have not lost what I expected to lose after 4 weeks on a "liquid" diet. My hubby keeps telling me "you didn't put it on in three weeks, don't expect to lose it in three weeks!" Guess we'll have to hang in there together until we're nice and healed, and then get down to business!

Did anyone do a bowel prep before surgery?

Hi Emily- I just had my band put in Tuesday (12/20.) True to the tale, I had an incredible pain in my left shoulder. I walk and walk and walk some more-always feel better afterwards. My nurse gave me an ice pack for this after surgery-which worked wonders, and told me to alternate with heat when I got home. Still walking and pain only comes and goes...now if the pot belly from the gas would go too. lol! Good Luck!
