"Ready" for surgery? How much were you able to change before surgery?
njgal replied to Little Green's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I’d also like to add that sometimes the physical takes a while to catch up to the mental. I had a “relaxing” mentally some months prior to surgery but that didn’t change my physical approach to food at all. I continued to eat as before and didn’t lose a single pound prior to surgery. Call it a long goodbye or just a balancing act between the two (mental/physical) but up to the day prior to surgery I can’t really consider my habits to have changed. My understanding of the process as well as how I’m eating certainly did and I think that’s helping me now. (I’m 5 weeks out). Oh, therapy is great, I’m all for it if you have the right therapist. -
How long before others noticed your weight loss?
njgal replied to Polly Pocket's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
1 mo/25 lb out and someone I hadn’t seen in a while did a double take and couldn’t help commenting. People are usually not that much of a blabber mouth with me at work but this gentleman just couldn’t otherwise. He doesn’t know about the surgery. -

Mashed avocado if you’re allowed. Twinge of lemon juice in it. It was actually pretty good. -
Gastric Sleeve: Daily Calorie Intake
njgal replied to Rose400491's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
800-1000 depends on the day. I have a minimum of 64 gr of protein to uphold. I usually get in about 80-100. I’m a month post-op. -
What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

How do you celebrate without food?
njgal replied to _Mini_Me_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tapas place might work as well, easier to blend in... but definitely all of the above. It is for you to make the suggestion and find out what works [emoji4] and congratulations [emoji324][emoji322][emoji898] -

A record of my experience... from start to finish... rants and all!
njgal replied to njgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know it is terribly difficult; it’s the anticipation, right? Just hang in there... 4.5 days makes... hmmm tuesday? Hey! I was a tuesday sleever as well good luck and let us know how you fair afterwards. In the meantime, either try different protein shakes or different temperatures. I heard people like cold and not warm or vice verse? Maybe that’ll do the trick. -

Yay! I just had my 1 month check up and I am through with flying colors! I can eat anything (slowly) and I can exercise anything (taking it slowly) going forward. So onward we go. I’m down to 3 square meals, 1 afternoon snack and 2 protein shakes in between meals. Looks like this’ll be it for the foreseeable future. And onward we go. Really, the only thing I get to complain about now is that I am so fricking cold all the time. My husband keeps teasing me “welcome to the normal side”. But even that has a silver lining; I finally get to wear some lovely sweaters! Carry on everyone! -
What funny thing did you do in preop?
njgal replied to trailtramper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good for you! -
No, but I’m looking for one closer to home. I’ll look into Hackensack, thanks!

Looking for a buddy... I'm pre-op for the sleeve, due to get it done in September. Anybody? There doesn't seem to be a NJ Sleeve Support group
-
So you’ve already had it? Congratulations. How do you feel?

Need Help. Where to find a support group?
njgal replied to Sleeved in DFW :-)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In case you need different info: net intake, ask for ellen. They do skype sessions for both psych and nutrition eval. Ellen is the nutritionist and she’s great. https://www.netintake.com -
Thanks! I got it done in October and am doing wonderful. Hope you’re doing well too. Do you go to a local support group?
-
I hear you completely. Still haven’t quite figured out how to deal with it other then to counter-argue with myself through it!
