    Constipation SOS

Some warm decaf tea (or coffee) works great too... anything to help relax your GI a bit.

    PS in your 20's?

Another question! It seems like something new pops up in my head every day, but I just want to get a glimpse on what to expect. For those of you that had been banded and are in the 20ish age range, did you have to get PS after you lost most of your weight in order to get rid of the excess skin? Or did it kinda just bungee back? That's what I'm hoping mine will do anyway... lol. I know it all depends on how your weight was distributed and what a person's post-op weight was too... but any insight you guys could offer me on your experiences would be great!
  4. Hi everyone! I'm going in on Thursday to my doctor (Dr. Halmi in Vienna, VA.. right outside of DC) for a consultation. Basically, once I come out of there on Thurs. night I should have a good idea of approximately when my surgery will be taking place, hopefully sometime in early May. I have researched the LAP-band and gastric bypass for about the past 3 or so years and have determined that the LAP-band is the best one for me. I'm going on 24 and weigh 240 right now, and I personally feel that gastric bypass, although a highly effective tool, would be a bit too much for me in my life right now. Plus, I like the whole earlier recovery time from LAP-band vs. gastric bypass. Anywho! I was just curious if anyone has any suggestions about any other questions that are not frequently addressed that I could bring up to my doctor. They sent me out a TON of paperwork and a info about the LAP-band and gastric bypass, but whenever I research this on my own, I always find something new and new questions that arrise. I know this is a wonderful place to get my questions answered (pre and post-op), but if any of you have suggestions of something that I should directly ask my doctor that may not come up far too often that would be great.... I'm a bit nervous to be honest!
  5. Hi everyone! I'm not quite sure if this is the right forum, but I'm sure its no biggie. I have just made an appointment with my doctor for a lap band consultation. Currently, I am 24 yrs. old at 5ft 3in and weigh 240lbs (109 kg). I have toiled over weight reduction surgery for the past 3 or 4 years. I was just wondering about a few things that maybe you all could help me with before I even go to my consultation. I know hair loss is very typical post-op, and is experienced differently person to person, but I was just wondering if your hair ever comes back? I was a Water polo player back in my high school days and the swim cap that I wore every day sort of contributed to a slight thinning of my hair, especially in the front, so I'm a bit concerned about if my hair will regain its natural thickness once my body has leveled out (protien levels and all that jazz). I was also wondering about pregnancy after the surgery. Have any of you women had children since you have been banded? I do plan on having children sometime in my life (preferably before I'm 30), and I was wondering if the band has any sort of complications with pregnancy. I've done a lot of self research on this, and I really think that this is the right choice for me. I've been the chubby girl my whole life, and I am the only one in my immediate family that has ever had a weight problem. Any advice or comments would be greatly appriciated!
