Seriously so excited to be getting to this part. I'll be starting classes Mar 7th via Kaiser Englewood. Just curious is there is anyone else out there as well. I know its a long shot! -
Diflucan pre op?
sabrina14339 replied to sabrina14339's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No, I'm pre op. Don't want to take anything that can delay my date. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app -
I am scheduled for bypass on the 6th. I have an itchy situation going on down there. My primary has prescribed me diflucan. Has anyone taken this is close to surgery? I do have an email out to my bari team but they likely won't get back until tomorrow...and my bits aren't happy. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app

Frustrated with Kaiser

That's different. I'm talking about during class. Two weeks before surgery you go on a semi liquid liver shrinking diet. I was never told I had to lose weight but the expectation is, if you do it, you will lose something. I imagine not losing would be a sign that you didn't complete it. Heads up, Colorado does not require you to lose weight. You weigh in the first class and are told not to gain weight. If you do, the surgeon may not take you. They weigh you again on your last class and day of surgery. A woman from my class told me on the day of surgery the woman before her weighed in 2 lbs heavier and they cancelled her surgery. California is stricter than Colorado. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app -
Colorado - Kaiser - Starting classes next week!
sabrina14339 replied to sabrina14339's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We had 6 weeks, one class a week for about 1.5hrs. No one mentioned to me a remote option and I live in the Springs. I guess there was another class where people conferenced in. I did a make up class that way and it was horrible. I recommend in person They have the classes at 3 different locations. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'm also Kaiser CO. I have my surgery booked July 6. I can tell you right now you won't be August. After your last class is done (and you see the psych again, but this is typically done during your last week), you'll wait a week or two to get a call to schedule your consult. That is typically scheduled a week out. Once you see the surgeon, they give you your date. Which surgeon you see may impact your wait time. I got Rahem and my surgery was scheduled 9 weeks out. Others in my class had the new guy, Johnson and got in earlier. Who knows, by the time you finish it may all equalize. I'd plan on surgery being 6-8 weeks after your consult, so 7-10 weeks after your last class. Oh..and if you are an ex smoker, plan on taking another nicotine test after classes are complete that will add 2-3 weeks to the process. Let me know if you have any questions though. I realize I sound like I'm raining on your hopes...but as someone who just went through the frustration, I want to help really! Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app -
Are you allowed any food on yours? If so, maybe you should eat it around lunch to help get you through the day. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app

Perhaps you should look into better shoes with the support for your particular foot type? I have super high arches and had PF bad. I only buy shoes with great arch support. -
Returning to work after sleeve surgery
sabrina14339 replied to Apple1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I really think it depends on you and your job. If it requires heavy lifting..or any lifting, then you may need longer or modified duties. Im told the harder part is feeling tired from not eating and adjusting to new rules, not the healing itself. -
Colorado - Kaiser - Starting classes next week!
sabrina14339 replied to sabrina14339's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks for that feedback! Im debating sleeve vs rny myself so Im hoping the classes and surgeons can help me decide. Its great hearing you had such a positive experience -
There are a TON of groups with the same name. How do we knew which is yours?

Just wanted to check in. Hows it going?

So, my doc requires a clean screen to even start the process. Im sure I will be tested again pre op. I have heard some docs will cancel as it increases risk of surgery and healing. That being said, how fast its out of your system depends on you...age..metabolism..how much you smoked. It coyld be as little as 3-5...or as long as 2 weeks to a month. I had a urine test...drank a lot of water, took niacin and cranberry tablets, and did not smoke for 16 days and was clean. I was a light smoker and was probably clean eaflier than 16 days but I did t want to risk a dirty test as it would have delayed me another 30 days. Good luck!!

Thigh numbness 2 days post op
sabrina14339 replied to Jamesarwin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive also had this (not had surgery yet). Outer thigh, stinging, numbness, painful to touch? I was tested up and down for everything. No clue. Just "one of those things". Just neuropathy. Had me on a couple meds for a bit then it stopped. -
Money money money
sabrina14339 replied to sleeveme17's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So the total cost will likely depend on your experience. They likely cant tell you with 100% certainty. Will you stay one night? Have complications and need more care? Tataworld 605. The 1700 is likely your insurance max out of pocket cost. That includes the deductible of 250 and the 20% coinsurance. If that is your max out of pocket, you will pay no more. You may pay less, but not more. -
I wish I could offer you words of comfort, but instead I share your situation and fears....why does RNY feel so much scarier?

Feeling defeated
sabrina14339 replied to vegas_mimi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! I have 16 days down myself. I am technically able to go in and test tomorrow but I'm really debating it. I can't start my classes until I test clean, so I want to hurry and get it done. But if I fail, I have to wait another 30 days... -

I'm 12 days with no smokes and I get you. From what I read, even though vaping may have zero nicotine, it contains other chemicals that effect you the same way (blood, oxygen, healing). I second the suggestion of asking for chantix
