  1. Greetings from a Deer Hunter in Wisconsin

  2. Hi Bansters, I am seriously considering getting banded. One area of concern/question is what happens 3,5 10 years out? Once you reach your goal weight do you loosen up the band? Do you eat different? Does life change (from a food intake perspective) once you have reached the goal weight? If so how? I don't see these questions being discussed too much here. It seems like this forum is a place to come when your in the process, but once your "done" you stop talking about it. I hope to hear from some long time vets! Thanks Archer

    Unity Health Insurance

It is the HMO plan through my wife's work. Ironically, she works at the Hospital I would have the proceedure done at. I need to dig into the policy more.
  4. Does anyone know if Unity Health Insurance in southern Wisconsin covers lap band proceedures?
  5. :huh2:Hello everyone, I am just starting to look into Lapband surgery as an option for me. I happened to be blessed with heart disease (six bypasses at age 38), sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes. Weighing in at 270, 5’8”. I am currently taking a lot of insulin (160 units of nph and 50 regular each day) that I can not lose weight at all. I have done the diet and exercise bit. Spent a ton of money on a personal trainer and I am/was the most fit 270lb person I knew, but could not drop the weight or keep the diabetes under good control. So my exploration into LapBand surgery has begun. I would like very much to hear from others with my similar conditions who have had the band “installed”. How has it changed your meds, diabetes, apnea and cholesterol etc. I am searching and reading the site (that could take a year in itself). Any feedback from others would be appreciated. Thanks Archer

    Cutting back on meds...

Jack, How much of a juggling game is it after post op with the meds? Was it cold turkey stopping the meds or a gradule decline. It would seem with the diabetes you would have to test your Blood sugar quite often and adjust on the fly. I am not banded yet but have similar med issues and I am curious how it will be impacted. Thanks
  8. Thanks Sharon! I live in Madison Wisconsin and would love to hear from anyone who has had their surgery at UW Hosptial or lives in the Madison area. Go Badgers! Archer
