    Deep "Dive"

Yep. Sexy time has changed. I think I'll beg for pre-showers for a while.. (yes, I'm female, but I can smell myself and him a lot more).
  2. I used the spirometer until I could consistently get the ball(s) where they need to be (around 4 days out for me, but might take a week for someone that isn't out moving a lot). If you hear snap, crackle, and pop in your breathing, it means there is still air trapped in your lung tissues. Infected incisions will have increasing redness, warmth, possibly bad smell and drainage. Also keep an eye on your temperature. Temps above 101F are cause for concern.

Living Life 4 Ounces At A Time

I know keto will work as long as you stick with it. For me, I know I couldn't stick with it long term, so I'm starting with a moderate approach. I guess I need to ask my nut, but I am looking forward to getting in 6 or 8 oz at a meal. Then I can actually fit veggies in with my protein. (More than a spoonful, which isn't worth the cooking!). 3oz protein, 3oz nonstarchy veggies, 2 oz starchy.. that is my long term goal (4 meals) (I'm female..a guy would need 4oz protein at a time).
  4. You sound like there is still a lot of gas. Stand up while you drink, and walk a bunch. Do you have the spirometer? (Lung exerciser) How has that been going? My lungs got rid of most of my excess gas. You need to sleep. I liked having a bunch of pillows surrounding me the first week.

    Walking

Solid foods increase dehydration and will do the opposite of what you want. Drink drink drink! Milk, if you tolerate it, will give protein and fluid.

    Bathroom problems

Try an enema. Be prepared to stay in the bathroom for 20-30 minutes, but then you're done.

    Walking

I get those symptoms when I work too hard and my heart rate gets too high. Of course I'm breathing super hard too. Does this sound like what might be happening to you? How much walking did you do before surgery?
  8. Before surgery there was a running joke in our house. "You don't own the Colonel, you only rent it". KFC frequently sent us running to the toilet. Fried foods are often difficult.... No worries! Just to cover the bases though, be sure to examine the other ingredients to see if there was anything else in the cakes that you hadn't had before. The fish was fresh out of a can, right?
  9. Yes, it is unfortunate that newbies are exposed to bickering. I see how it is offputting. But, have faith that there are good providers. I flew down to Mexico, trusting a lot of positive advertising on this site, and was not disappointed. I have a friend that saw a different surgeon, and also had a good experience.
  10. My doc didn't approve, so I found another. Best thing that could have happened because my new doc is sooo much better! This happened once before. I became pregnant for another couple. The OB doctor didn't approve. Found a new doctor that was so supportive and I received much better care. Try to find a new doc before getting the surgery so you can get care when you get back if needed. (I did and was glad since I needed to be seen within days of coming home). Good luck!
  11. I flew the day of surgery... 6 hour flight with no water or anything. Super dehydrated when I got there, but it was do-able. On the flight home I was on clear liquids. Water, hot tea, apple juice, etc.
  12. Remember your dream of going abroad for your studies. It can still happen! You have run into health issues, but schools aren't going anywhere. Get stronger, and find a way! You can do it! It is a great big world out there. So many opportunities! I know you have the strength to go and find a new path, because you have been so brave on this one.
  13. I am a month post op and am on soft foods. What seems to be the case for me is I can eat up to 15g of protein at a sitting. My protein goal is 70g for the day. 5 sittings brings me up to 75g, IF I get 15g at each one. I don't. Some sittings are only 8g. So, I need to eat 6 times a day. Before noon I might get one solid meal, but mostly it is just milk, coffee, vitamins, and fiber (26g protein). After noon I usually have a can of tuna, an egg, cottage cheese, and yogurt. Takes until bedtime to get everything in.
  14. I think they are frequently fried. Maybe that was the problem?
  15. Sleeve is a good choice unless you already suffer from GERD, or have severe food addiction.

    Leg lift approval

Congrats on hitting goal! Good luck with the insurance company!
  17. I scheduled mine for about 6 weeks out. That gave me enough time to get my passport (can take up to 6-8 weeks), airplane tickets, prepare myself and family, do the preop diet, get a few preop tests through my family doctor (not required), and really just wrap my brain around everything.
  18. I agree, the sleeve sounds like a good fit. I'm a month post op with my sleeve, so just barely started eating soft foods. But in my experience I feel full sooner than feeling the need for anything to come back up. So eating feels normal.. just with the reduced amount.

    Getting sleeved with a baby

Yes, I breastfed 3 children for a year each. Transformme is the perfect example of why to wean. She is having major hormonal fluxuations... One day she's crying, the next she's venomous against any naysayers. Sure. As though those hormones won't end up in the milk... She is correct. Do what you want.

    Getting sleeved with a baby

Keep in mind newborns are less than 10lbs. Older babies are significantly heavier. Be sure to clear infant care with the surgeon based on your individual circumstances.

    Getting sleeved with a baby

Ultimately, it's probably best to just let it go. 4 months is better than none. Babies do fine on formula, and with dehydration and malnourishment as a possibility for you, breastfeeding right now isn't ideal. Do yourself and your baby the favor of taking care of you right now.

    Blood Clot

So happy it was clear. I also had tightness in my calves for the first week or so. Mine just felt like overuse. I think that is common, but you just got it extra bad. Don't feel bad about going to the ER, even if it turns out to be nothing. Most bariatric patients will end up there at some point (for fluids, if nothing else).

    First ever Monthly TMI Post!

I also had the yeast overgrowth on tongue. I'm a month out and it is clearing on its own. Great post!
  24. When I graduated from high school in 1996, I weighted 215lbs, and wore a snug size 18. Probably a 20 would have fit better. Today I am 270lbs and am a snug 20. Craziness!
