    spasms and nasueous

Please do NOT take alka-seltzer! I heard of a patient that died due to it. The gas bubbles expanded his not-yet-healed stomach and popped some staples! They do make dairy free protein powders. Homemade broths can have lots of protein and taste good. Once you are cleared, try thinned refried beans.

    How is this going now?

    Sleeve and PCOS

It's worth trying a ketogenic diet to see if it would help before going under the knife. Complications from surgery are no joke, and so surgery really should be relegated to a last resort... Especially for a very young low BMI person. What is the harm in trying a diet for a year or two... The surgery isn't going anywhere....

    Somebody Pinch Me

Yes! I feel this way too! And, then there is the added,"be careful what you wish for, because even if/when you get to goal, there will be loose skin!"

    Tone loose skin

I worry about this too for my future. I think it comes down to wearing minimizing clothing. Compression and shapewear. Good luck!

    Filet mignon!

My plan specifically permits steak at 8 weeks out. Beef is permitted earlier as long as it's crock pot tender. Cheese is proving harder on my sleeve than beef. Lol.

    Help with protein!

You are only a week out and were just vomiting for three days. Don't put anything in that's thicker than plain milk. Can you tolerate milk? If so, spend the next two days just drinking that and water. (Personally I don't mind the fat in 2%.. Personal choice). Drink a couple quarts if you want. This early out, it's all about healing.

No, I don't want no SCALE

Ok, so during the first 6 months, as long as you are staying on plan, I give you permission to completely ignore the upward fluctuations on the scale. As you weigh each day, you will find that for every two pounds that go down, it will jump up 1-3 pounds before that. Weight loss is a dance... two steps forward, one step back. It's just how the body works! I agree with Matches. I didn't weigh myself prior to surgery, so gained a ton without realizing it. I now weigh every day. This is good during the weight loss phase. During maintenance, weekly might be enough. I record my weight each Monday, but I write down the lowest # I saw on the scale that week, rather than just what happens to be the Monday #. By doing it this way, I can actually see that for all the jumping up and down of the scale, the loss is pretty linear right now at 6.5 weeks postop.

Has Anyone Had a Second Sleeve?

It really wouldn't help, even if they could do it (which they most likely can't, sorry.) It is common to regain a little. But since you need to lose more, you are going to need to change your lifestyle. Go back to basics. Protein first, plenty of water, veggies, and exercise. Cut out the empty carbs and sliders. You can do this!

    Compression Shirts

Update.. Even though the shirt was comfortable all day, I woke up with sore muscles. Lesson learned: definitely wear your usual size. Still happy with the shirt, I'll just wait until I lose a bit more weight before I try it again.
  11. It sounds like you could go with a sleeve if you and your doctor agree.
  12. Ok, so I'm 40/150 down. I've noticed my EARLOBES have lost weight! What surprises have you experienced?
  13. How long have you had/how severe is your diabetes? Do you currently have heartburn? What is your BMI?

    Filet mignon!

I found fillet on sale at my grocer. About $5.00 each! And they are big, not those tiny medallions! We are eating well tonight!

    My 600 lb life

I caught a few minutes of one episode. Patient was over a year out and had already lost like 200lbs, but needed to lose another 50 before getting some skin removed. Doc thought she could do it in 2 months, and everyone was disappointed when she "only" lost 8 in that time. It showed some of what she was eating, and it looked fine to me! Unrealistic expectations...

Is this the forum for me?

I think it means there is an area of stomach that is ballooned out from the rest of the stomach with a narrow opening. "Blind" means it doesn't go anywhere. This could be a problem if food goes into the extra pouch and doesn't come back out....it would ferment.

Which Foods Can’t You Eat Now?

Strange thing. My first spinach salad (on my plan for 6 weeks out). I ate the salad and some chicken. Everything was fine, but about 30min later, I got the worst cravings. I was shoving more chicken into my face like I haven't done since surgery. The salad had an oil/vinegar dressing and some tomatoes. Maybe it was too acidic or something. Afraid of salad now

    Compression Shirts

So excited! I had some time to kill, so went into an athletic store I hadn't been in for a long time. They now have tons of compression wear. I actually found one men's large long-sleeve heat gear shirt. I was sad they had no xl, but decided to try it on anyway. IT FIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooo excited!!!!! I need the long sleeves to hold my upper arm fat/skin

    Spices

I was allowed spices 3 days post op. Be careful because some can be hard on your tummy. Anything with chile pepper (even if it's not normally spicy to you) can cause problems early out.
  21. Berry78

    Took a chance...

    I bet they'll fit!
  22. Did anything else change in your life? Medication, job, family situation? Illness? Anything? Any chance you are pregnant? Did you introduce a new type of food, even a healthy one? Something has to have changed. Just need to dig... Good idea rte.. Thyroid problems... Very astute!

    Struggling Eating at 8 Weeks

I'm 6.5 weeks out and generally get full on 3oz of food. At this point my surgeon wants me eating meals and moving away from the shakes. So I 'm wondering if you concentrate on eating instead of taking the shakes where you'll be. Shakes are filling and take up hours of the day. Experiment with not taking any shakes for a day or two and see where you're at. If you can't meet your protein goal, by all means, go back on the shakes. Be willing to experiment is all. Good luck!

    Anyone get new ink?

Not sure about the joey in the pouch, but otherwise it's cool! Edited to add... kangaroo kebobs might be tasty! Lol.
