People love to be told they're right. Just say "Thanks, I'm working with my doctor on it." I know I have been surprised by others' weight loss, and get concerned.

Feeling sick every time I eat or drink
Berry78 replied to Lovelyladybee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There is a rare person that can have acid trouble after bypass. Ulcers are more common. Mention it to your team... Could be something completely different... -
Outside, you mentioned if you eat your veggies with your protein that you get hungry soon after.. Almost like the salad makes the meat slide through. Pizza might do the same thing...

Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition & Weight Loss Prediction?

It would be awful nice to know whether I should use an oil/vinegar dressing or just lemon juice. -
Did anyone take their child to Mexico?
Berry78 replied to msdr1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It could work. The best plan would be to have them at the hotel while you are in the hospital. Recuperating in the small hospital room with a toddler would be a nightmare. Talk with your coordinator about whether they could stay in the hotel and have the valet take them around for the 2-3 days you are hospitalized. Then you join them upon discharge. -
I just ran my plan through a calculator. Looks like I'm getting around 1100 calories, 45g fat, 70g carbs, 70g protein. Lots of places to make tweaks when this early weight loss stalls. The most concerning thing is the lack of potassium. Multivitamins do not supplement that nutrient, and I'm only getting 1/3 the recommended amount. Even adding 2oz potato didn't make much difference.

Well, I don't mind fat, so I use 2% or even 4%. Personal choice. I figure if I start struggling with weight it gives me some wiggle room.

(Hugs), everything will be ok! Many people need to have their bands removed, and it is possible (usually) to get a gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy instead. Both of those surgeries are permanent, so this would never happen again. Many people do experience weight regain after band removal, so it's good to keep to a limited diet once you are eating again. I notice this is your first post. Welcome!

My day: 1. Coffee/1 cup milk/vitamins (18g protein) 2. Spinach/fruit smoothie 3. 4oz cottage cheese (15g protein) 4. 1 egg/ .75 cup lentil soup (15g protein) 5. 1 ounce nuts (7g protein) 6. 2-4 oz meat (14-28g protein) I usually only get the first 2 in before noon, so it is pushing to get everything else in before bed. I'm 8 weeks postop.

Girlfriend is having major numbness
Berry78 replied to kiechiro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If she isn't at the hospital, you need to take her back. They need to keep looking for a cause. My daughter developed a mild case of paresthesia as a drug reaction. It was a diuretic that could disrupt her electrolytes. She was fine after getting off the drug. ER, now if she's home. -
Filled Up! 8 weeks post op
Berry78 replied to Irish Girl in NW's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If a lot of people experience this between 6 and 8 weeks, it might be a natural progression of the healing sleeve. I'm 8 weeks out today, and I 've only experienced decreasing restriction. Sure, a chunk of solid meat is super filling, but soft foods continue being easy. I ate a full 4oz of tuna salad for dinner tonight. -
You could try going back on the antacid and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise, make sure you are getting 3 meals and a snack, solid food will be more satisfying than the shakes.

Filled Up! 8 weeks post op
Berry78 replied to Irish Girl in NW's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Be sure to mention this to your team. Not saying there is a problem, but increased restriction can sometimes mean a stricture is getting started. If it's only been a day or two, you don't have to rush to the phone. But if the increased restriction continues its worth checking out, particularly if it impacts your ability to drink. -
Low grade fevers for 5 weeks? Do you have an elevated white count? How is your thyroid?
-
Ok, tell her you thought about what she said about grazing, and realized 6 meals really is more than you need, so 3 meals and a snack is working just fine. As for the book.. Just slog through it, and hopefully by the end there will be a couple memorable stories or examples in it. You just have to memorize those examples (1 or 2), and focus on that. I asked about the reflux for me.. Was wondering how long it takes to show up

If it helps, I don't think wild horses could make you go under the knife again after this one (Hugs) you are going to do great! I bet things will go better than last time since you aren't as heavy! And just think how much easier a time you'll have moving around once you're healed. Be prepared for your pubic area to be swollen for months afterwards because of the disruption to the vascular system (hinders drainage). Before the surgery, make sure you have a very reliable thermometer, and get in the habit of taking your temperature every day. That way you know what is normal for you. You need to monitor temps for a month after surgery. (it can take surprisingly long for infection to show up). Do you have someone that can take care of you and the house for a few weeks?

Text messsge changed my life .....the agony!!!
Berry78 replied to Dknal2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I swear, when you're stopped in a road, indecisive as to which path to take, it can be such a relief to get a push in the right direction. It may seem strange, but I recommend sending that other woman flowers. She has done you a very good deed. -
A lot of docs can receive texted or emailed pics. See if they can take a look.

With your starting weight, 10 days just wasn't long enough. My surgeon would have had you on a 21 day liquid diet. Not your fault! Just be sure not to cheat anymore
-
If the book is standing in the way of your revision.. Just do it! How many meals a day are we talking? These are all little battles... Fight through each one, and you'll be golden! How many months did it take the acid to show up?
-
You are so inspiring! Our stats are similar, except I'm just 8 weeks out today... nowhere near goal. I can only dream of looking half as good as you! Hope you don't mind my asking what size jean you are wearing...

Periods post op are not going to be regular for many women. This means ovulation will be nearly impossible to predict. Which means pregnancy is possible. It also means that random spotting can happen and not mean anything. Pregnancy is contraindicated foe a year post op. Assuming you aren't pregnant now, please be more careful going forward

vyvanse to reduce binge eating?
Berry78 replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
Preop you have to be careful with the stimulants if you already have high blood pressure (lots of people that are looking at surgery do have high blood pressure). Ideally peeps learn new ways of living with food addictions, rather than depending on meds. But, this is something to be worked out with your doc and therapist. -
Oh my gosh, Sharon! It sounds like you need a second opinion. In the meantime, drink 1/2 to 2/3 of your calories. Keep trying solid food, but don't depend on it for your nutrition.

Possibly traveling alone. Tell me your experience please.
Berry78 replied to Here_I_Go_Again's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Ditto everything Marinagirl said. I was happy to be alone so I wasn't kept up by my hubby's incessant typing on his laptop. He would have been so bored at the hospital, and somehow things would have been about him. Finally I got to have 4 days to just myself, and it was all about me.
