  1. Thank you for utilizing correct spelling and grammar. (It wasn't I, however, that was complaining about lose/loose. As a mother of two brilliant, yet dyslexic, children, I tend to overlook such trivialities).
  2. Amazing transformation! Thank you for running for such a worthy cause.

    Difficulty eating.

Contact your team to make sure everything is ok, physically. Strictures happen (scar tissue pulls everything too tight), and when they do, they need treatment. Hope they can help you get sorted!
  4. I love you too, Fluff. So funnny!

    Stevia....yay or nay?

https://www.rxbar.com/whats-inside/our-products I tried these. Pretty good! My vitamins do contain artificial sweetener and protein powder. I add them to coffee each morning. I tried vitamin pills but they didn't agree with me. At. All. So, yeah. We all have to be flexible to find what works for us.

    Stevia....yay or nay?

Aww, thanks, Fluff! I actually just drink regular milk, but Fairlife is a great alternative, particularly for those that are lactose intolerant or that want more protein/lower carbs.
  7. *Stream of conciousness* In second grade, a heavy classmate called me fat. It hurt my feelings enough that I told my teacher. In middle school, I wasn't teased much about my weight. My hair and clothes, however, weren't exempt. Kids stole my skirt in gym class and hid it for a while..... I had been given a dress by a church friend, but it was too small, so I cut the skirt part off to wear. The raggedy top caught the kids' attention. (They wouldn't have seen it, except for the requirement to change clothes). Bug under the microscope. Hate it! Live with my MIL that talks about peoples' looks ALL THE TIME. Zits, wrinkles, waistline, etc. etc. No one did that in my home when I was a kid. What IS normal? Sure, everyone knows it's rude to talk about others' flaws, but is it normal to even notice? I never did, unless it was something as glaring as a missing limb... Is it me that is unusual? I do have 2 boys that have Aspergers. I wonder whether I have a touch of it myself (or if I'm normal and my MIL is the weird one). Mysteries of the universe... *snaps out of reverie* Anyway... that's as far as I've gotten with my thinking. Obesity helps us, as adults, fly under the radar. It takes a certain change of attitude to accept the attention that weight loss brings. Our best defense it a good offense. Be ready to say "Thank you, I have been working hard. And how about those Yankees?"
  8. How are you handling clear liquids?
  9. You need to sit with yourself in a calm environment where you can think. Try to figure out why a compliment triggers you to change your behavior. I think I do the same thing, or at least used to, but I'm not sure if I ever figured it out. Weight loss comments are not affecting me now, so I'm going to have to do some thinking on this topic myself.... If I come up with anything, I'll let you know...

    Hernia at One Year

Wow, I looked this up, and it's a complication from laproscopic gastric bypass in approx. 1-4% of patients. For anyone else reading this thread.. an "internal hernia" is referring to a loop of intestine getting caught in between the other intestines, not in the abdominal wall. The symptoms are abdominal pain that typically radiates around the back, and the pain can be constant or intermittent. Vomiting frequently happens as well. They always have to do surgery, or the affected intestine could die from lack of blood supply. There is no specific timeframe in which this hernia can occur. It can happen months or years after the bypass. I'm so glad they caught yours and got you sorted out!

    Stevia....yay or nay?

My goal has been 70g from the start. 4oz Cottage cheese 13g 4oz beans 8g 1 egg 6g 4oz meat 25g 1oz nuts 8g 1.5 cup milk 12g And for good measure, my vitamins have 5g in them too. So that's 77g. Wiggle room in case I don't eat all of everything.

    Stevia....yay or nay?

I haven't ever needed protein shakes to meet my goal. BUT, I'm not sensitive to dairy, so was able to rely on that during the healing phase. Meat, beans, nuts, eggs and dairy meet my goals now.

    Hair loss

http://drnichter.com/hair-loss-after-surgery-explained/ There really isn't anything that we can do, except keep up with our nutrition so when it's time to regrow, it can have a healthy start.

    Hair loss

Hair loss usually starts at about 3 months postop and lasts until 7-9 months postop. It'll start regrowing at about 12 months postop. It's the operation its self that causes the loss. Anyone that has major surgery or illness might lose hair in a similar fashion.
  16. This is only 11oz. You need to be getting a minimum of 35-40oz (1200cc) a day or you WILL be getting severely dehydrated. It only takes 2 days to become dehydrated, so you may already be there. You may need to go somewhere to get fluids in an IV.

HELPPPP ME :( I cant stop itching

10 days is way too long for a BM. Please use an enema, suppository, milk of magnesia.. something to get things moving.

    Excessive Skin/Overhang etc.

Some people can lose quite a bit of weight without much excess skin. Others have tons. It's hard to predict who is who, but, if you have more than 50-70 pounds to lose, chances are good there will be excess skin. You can try to "fill up" the skin with muscle, but that only goes so far. Plastics or a "devil may care" attitude are common solutions.
  19. This is where saying something like.. "the soup is great, my tummy just doesn't feel the greatest right now" would take care of it.
  20. Sounds like you have a plan! When it comes to white sugar and flour, I actually don't think those foods, themselves, are the problem. (Wheat isn't the same grain it used to be, so I'm not really sure what to think if that.. could be a problem). But, big picture, by avoiding those two foods, you're avoiding all the high calorie, chemical laden, processed food-junk in the store. I guess we should add corn and potato chips to the pile as well. (I can see it now... "corn chips don't have sugar or white flour, so they're ok!" Lol) To start, I find it easiest to eat the same things each day, so I only have to create a menu once and I'll know that I'm hitting all my protein, carb, fat, and calorie goals. Once that menu is second nature, then it can be tweaked if you want.

    Scared to eat

Stalls happen to everyone, and not eating will make it worse. Keep in mind this journey is about finding your health, not starving yourself! Your doctor gave you a diet to follow. Please do so. Even though you don't need as many calories, you still need protein and vitamins, etc. If you are having thoughts of hurting yourself, please contact your doctor or go to the ER.

    Vitamins making me nauseous

I had to try different ones to find what I can tolerate.

    What is going on??

Surgery often starts periods early or late. Make sure you are getting enough to drink. Milk-2%, if you can tolerate it, can be helpful. Has sugar, protein, and fat.. AND counts as a fluid. If you keep feeling bad, call your surgeon.
  24. If you are 100 pounds overweight, you are not really expected to lose 100lbs after surgery. Average loss is 65-75%. You've lost on the lower side of average. If you want to continue losing weight, you'll have to track and count everything and see if there is something you can change.
