  1. Hypoglycemia IS scary and dangerous. I live with a diabetic that experiences it. I don't know if the bypass might make it worse, but seems like the mandatory protein/frequent meals might make it better! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
  2. It really sounds like dumping... in that negative reinforcement will help keep your diet in line. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

  6. Personally I would wean before surgery. Too many potential medications, hormone release during weight loss, malnutrition, etc. I nursed each of my kids for a year, then did me-stuff after weaning. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

    Calf Pain

Just wondering... in the day or two before the pain started, did you fly anywhere? Go on a long car trip? Anything unusual? It would be nice to know if this is only a complication from the surgery, or a combination of factors. How long do you stay in the hospital? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

    Advice please

At only 3 weeks post op, you will possibly still be sore and tired. You'll be well off to say you had a hernia operation and you have to take it easy. Explains your diet too. Make sure to bring a pillow in case of coughing or laughter! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

    Leak

Line up 200 patients, and 1 will get the leak. 2 will have blood clots. 6 will get an infection. 50/50 chance that 1 will die. 96 (!) will get worse heartburn. Statistics off the top of my head... #s could be a bit off... But, the point is that there are risks, but they aren't overwhelming. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

    How did you decide

I just woke up one day a couple weeks ago and just knew! I have no idea where the idea came from.... I WAS thinking about being embarrassed to go to a family reunion. I never thought about or knew anything about the surgery before (not for 20 years, anyway). Still debating between bypass and sleeve. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

    Fever when got home

I did a quick search, and others have had that happen. If the fever gets over 102, go ahead to the hospital even if you feel ok. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

    Fever when got home

A fever in general isn't usually worrisome until it gets over 102F. But, I have seen serious conditions with lower fevers. I think just monitor yourself... don't take any fever reducers. If you start feeling bad, don't hesitate to go to any hospital if you can't make the preferred one. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

  25. I was just thinking about this myself. I have generally weighed myself once a year for the last decade. Why change it up? Well... maybe I'll move it to once a month after the surgery. (Fingers crossed). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App
