When I was in middle school, we were admiring an opera singer's voice. Our music instructor said we'd need to gain about 200lbs to be able to sound like that. Well, I showed him! (Gained the weight, but still don't sound like her!) HA! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

What does your diet look like? Surgeons do differ wildly in the type of diets they recommend. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

Be sure to stick to your diet and take your acid reducers. Maybe try to distract yourself... start a crossword puzzle or something to take your mind off baby tummy. (I swear these tummies are like real babies. Some are easy-peasy, not a moments trouble.....others cry nonstop!). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

Concentrate on your protein, water, and vitamins. Count your carbs. No more than 50 a day (of course run this by your nutritionist!). Stay off the scale! Congrats, and good luck! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

Who had sleeve surgery in Mexico?
Berry78 replied to JR15's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
If you go with Dr. Illan, you need to plan to be away from the family for about 7 days. 2 travel, 2 in hospital, and 2 in hotel before going home. I threw an extra in there for good measure. Be sure to do your due diligence for what the surgery entails. It is a big deal, not to be undertaken lightly. This message board is a font of information. Good luck! Continue following your post op diet. Protein is just as important while sick as when not sick! Your Vitamins will help keep your immune system up. Orange juice won't save you (especially by its self). The acidity may be doing a number on your tummy. sleep, set alarms to tell you when to eat. Drink drink drink.

Anyone tried stomach taping or bandaging?
Berry78 replied to Lala'sthinFtW's topic in The Gals' Room
Yeah, I wouldn't do duct tape for fear of hurting your skin. Not sure if there is room for a heavier liner. Maybe keep looking for compression garments. Some can be very sturdy. Either way, you are beautiful! -
Extended hospital stay considerations
Berry78 posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Ok, so you go to Mexico to get the procedure done, but there are complications and you need to stay in the hospital longer than the package provides. How are these additional bills handled? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App -

Thanks everyone. I got the same answer as it pertains to Dr. Illan. Peace of mind included! -
Questions about bypass in Mexico?
Berry78 replied to whitneyisfab's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am also deciding between sleeve and bypass. (Don't want a mini since they aren't common in the US). I'm pretty set on the sleeve because it can be converted later if necessary. The bypass is one and done, but what if it is more than I need? The sleeve has a pretty good weight loss to complication ratio, and I am willing to entertain the notion of a revision later. The RYN bypass is definitely "one and done". I wouldn't entertain a revision later from that. Good luck! -

How much weight can I carry 4 weeks out?
Berry78 replied to TheNaSMaX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Can you walk along with 5 others as a not-much weight bearing person in the middle? I know this is important, but you need to stay healthy during this difficult time. (I'm sorry for your loss ). Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App -
A 300lb woman and shoes... my story: 11 years ago I gave birth to my last child. A month or so after the delivery I was ready to start working out to lose the baby weight. Very quickly I began having foot pain. Learned it was plantar faciitis. Chiropractor recommended stiff shoe inserts and Aasics brand shoes. I wore those things for 6 years (regularly replacing the shoes with the same $120 model). In pain the entire time. I started messing with horses so decided to switch things up and bought boots. The pain vanished! The horse boots became tiresome, so I switched over to Columbia hiking boots with Dr. Scholl's inserts. Now my feet are really happy. Boots don't knock my feet off the sides of the shoes like sneakers did. The ones I buy are very light weight. I have no trouble wearing them anywhere, even the gym. I have come to the conclusion that sneakers simply aren't designed to carry people that weigh over 200lbs. Hiking boots are designed for people wearing packs, traveling over rough terrain. Anyway, I still like Aasics, and plan to buy some more, but not until I lose 100+lbs. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

Ok peeps, there are enough posts about people needing sleeve to bypass revisions due to GERD, that I'm not sure which path to take. I am planning to go with Dr. Illan in Mexico. I do not have a history of significant heartburn or acid reflux. I sure don't want the surgery to start it! (I live with someone with terrible GERD, and it is awful!) What do y'all think?
